Wow. I didn't know you still had the Tucson. It's a machine and at some point putting money, time and effort into it will not be worthwhile. It looks like you've crossed that threshold.

How many KMs on it now?

About 150K now.
Yes, threshold was crossed, and I am heading over to lucknow to see whether I can bring it back to delhi and scrap it here, or whether it will have to be done there itself. Pity

Now to begin the search for a storme 4x4, which is going to another mission in itself.

SO I drove the car back from lucknow with anew water pump which cost me about 3k.
Now to begin the task of scrapping it.

The mechanic told me that the pump and the head gasket failed due to thermal shock. The cap must not have been tight, and the long drive probably shook it lose to allow the water to evaporate. After that, when the engine heated up and only let it cool down halfway before pouring water caused the head gasket and the pump to let go. Drove well at a constant 100 kph from lucknow to noida, with a couple of stops.

I have spoken to Cero, and another scrapper. I have also heard that Cars24 is in this business? Maybe i will have a word with them as well.

Took delivery of my Hector today, and bid goodbye to the most capable car I've ever owned. Unfortunate that she didn't find a new home......

What happened to Tooky-san? Did it meet its grave after being beaten up by Hulk?

In a way. It met the dirtwads of the NGT. It was, now, 15+ years on Delhi registration, and neither hook nor crook worked

. It's being scrapped. :(
