Did this resolve the metallic noise at idle you were referring to earlier? Or is that still around?

Few bolts were loose and rubber mounts of exhaust were broken. The sound is gone after tightening of the bolts. I need to replace the rubber mounts of exhaust.

Cetane Booster

Engine is smoother, cold start is faster, and I love how the engine revvs . I use Cetane boosters if I couldn't fill in IOC XtraGreen.

Take a bow Sir, you are an inspiration to all the petrolheads because it surely takes grit to keep a car post the 10-year mark in India.

To be this car is symbolic of one of the golden phases of Maruti and a prime example of what the giant can produce if it really gets going. Even 10 years down the line the car yet looks modern and I am sure it has all the amenities that one would require for a comfortable commute.

Looking forward to reading more updates on this beauty!

There are few of you who really dont need a home, when you spend so much time driving your S cross, Balenos, SX4, Ertigas and so forth. This is some crazy numbers especially when you have 3 cars in your garage. Most of us find it difficult to reach a Lakh with just one primary car.

Great going Doc, wish you and SX4 many more KMs & years of fun & pleasurable ownership. Sometimes I feel we dont give Maruti enough credit to give us cars like SX4, S Cross 1.6, Brezza and Kizashi. We beat them down with our tin can memes and stereotyping.

True that!!

I still like the front design of SX4. The car has 2 airbags, ABS, Steering audio controls, and Auto AC. I need to get auto dimming IRVM and touchscreen HU with reverse camera

I just calculated and SX4 would have clocked more than 4 lakh km if it was the only car in garage

Edit: 7 cars in garage. 800 and Ambassador aren't running on roads anymore.

Hi Dr Naren,

Have been reading your posts on your SX4 and S-Cross for a while. Great to see 1.3 lakh on the odo.

Here is mine (2010 1.6 VVT ZXi) due to celebrate her 11th birthday in December.

My 2011 Maruti SX4 ZDi | Remapped by Wolf Moto | EDIT: Sold at the 12-year mark-75c4bbe7f66c444ab869df385c67c81f.jpeg

The SX4 definitely stands out from the Marutis of today in terms of quality (still behind my Polo which you can see chilling in the background) but much better than a Baleno we bought recently.

Questions to you:
1. How has your experience with the suspension been? Having moved around a lot and driven over pretty bad roads the suspension has now become very bouncy and creates a knocking sound. Have you had any issues with yours so far? I am considering a suspension overhaul in the near future.

2. Where did you source those headlights? LEDs with reflectors don't work the best for H4s as the high beam is pretty weak. Would definitely love to upgrade to projectors to improve night driving.

Also planning Hyd - Leh - Hyd next year in this car. Got her up the Rohtang Pass last year with no hiccups at all :

Lower arms, stabilizer link rods, and strut mounts are to be watched out for. I had changed them.

I have AES H1 bulb projectors. I won't recommend it. Better to go with D2S bulb type projectors.

re: My 2011 Maruti SX4 ZDi - Remapped by Wolf Moto. EDIT: 11.5 years & 1.34 lakh km done

My SX4DDIS lower gear sync rings failed again at 150,000kms. I had replaced them at 88000kms and i believe the same old part number of rings was used, MASS didn't upgrade the part to new one.
I got the new part number from Leoshashi and ordered the same, awaiting the parts to renew the gearbox again.I would also be changing the clutch plates and pressure plates so that i dont have to touch the gearbox again for another 1lakh kms.

Besides this i am also replacing rear shock absorbers proactively with MGP again. No other expense and the car continues to make me smile everytime i drive her.

Did you try the gear oil additive from Liqui Moly ? It worked like magic in my SX4. The shifts are damn smooth and I didn't have to open the gearbox again to change the rings .

Yes been using the liqui moly additive ever since I changed the rings. I have already purchased two more tubes and kept ready to use when the gearbox is opened this time for ring change.i guess one of the reason it lasted all this kms was due to the additive.

The car is back with the new Hub and rings. Used Motoil 75w90 along with two tubes of liqui moly gearbox additive.
Clutch and pressure plates was also changed, Post all this the shifts have become smoother and car is eager to pick up speed.
Next in line is a bigger IC.

Hi Dr.Naren,
Is the Technix brand a reputed one? What made you choose these? Share your experience with these mounts as am planning to swap the OEM ones in my Civic. Thanks!

Technix is a known brand. The price was significantly cheaper compared to Maruti OE part. No issues faced with the technix mount

New Update!

High Pressure pump developed a leak,my gearbox would get wet with diesel every-time i drove around. I decided to remove the pump at home at send it for service to replace all seals etc to kolhapur.
Its good to service the pump at such high mileage to ensure it doesn't fail unexpectedly. Also i wanted to check the plungers as the starting fuel delivery was low in my pump leading to very good mileage. But not good for the engine, so decided lets send the pump for a check up.
