Its good to service the pump at such high mileage to ensure it doesn't fail unexpectedly. Also i wanted to check the plungers as the starting fuel delivery was low in my pump leading to very good mileage. But not good for the engine, so decided lets send the pump for a check up.
I had faced minor leak from high pressure pump couple of years back. Maruti replaced the O-ring and no issues to date.

This is the part

Thanks doc,
This part was already replaced by mass but the leak continued. The seals inside the pump seems like the culprit and hence the plan to replace all seals and overhaul the pump.
Mass wanted to replace the pump which costs around 32k plus labour. I think this is not required for a seal inside which are available as a seal kit and cost about 1000 bucks to replace the entire set.

Major Update!

Got the injection pump overhauled, the idle and starting fuel rates were low, replaced all the related components and its as good as new. Sourcing of parts took some time as they were not available of the shelf. No diesel leaks etc as was the problem earlier.

I also replaced the complete timing chain kit,oil pump, tensioner, all related oils, coolant, filters etc etc. This was like a major service done and the car is as good as new. Good to go for another 2 lakh kilometres.Oil pump replacement was suggested by one of the workshop managers so did that also.
The first timing chain kit was replaced at 88,000 kms and i did a early timing chain kit replacement this time as i plan to travel extensively so wanted to be at peace of mind.

Post the clutch and pressure plate change i started having juddering issues in 1st gear and while reversing which were a major irritant in traffic.

I reached out to the garage that had done the work and i was informed they would replace them as they have had issues with defective clutch set from maruti.

Since i was busy, i got the job re done yesterday. We checked the flywheel it was fine but as precaution we replaced it. Post the change there is no more juddering in 1st and reverse gear.

The defective clutch set was given back to MGP store.

MAP Sensor Failure.

Had been to belgaum for some work, while returning back the car started showing the service light along with loss of acceleration.
Drove it back to goa and checked the code via torque it was showing as P0106 Boost pressure/Barometric/Performance issue.
Removed the old sensor, cleaned it with throttle body cleaner and installed but no improvement.

Bought a new sensor over the counter at MGP and replaced it at home, after clearing the codes it was again throwing the same code. After some drives the service light went off and check engine light came on. The car performed normally with slight lag. I drove it for an hour and again switched off and restarted the car and the check engine light went away.

To be on safer side i had it checked on SDT at MASS and it showed the error P0106 in history. Again we cleared it and the car was back to normal.

Cost of the sensor 1124.00.

The nearest Maruti dealer has thermostat in stock. I was being told there are 2 types, one with metal body and other one with plastic. Need to confirm on this.

I got the thermostat replaced at Maruti. The updated part was installed which is full plastic body. The metal one is known to rust and develop coolant leak, hence discontinued by Maruti. Total bill was around 2.5k.

Update:
Multiple SVS and check engine lights that would reappear every few days even after clearing the code via SDT.
Cleaned MAF sensor it made no changes and the check engine light would come on and car would go in limp mode.
We checked the wiring and it seemed ok,finally we replaced the MAP sensor again, post which the light hasn't returned.

It was concluded that the map sensor installed probably was defective.

Hoping to see no more of MIL and SVS lights again.

The horn was also very low.
Three year din 74 Exide battery just failed without giving any warnings.
Replaced it with a amaron pro, costed me 10k after exchanging old battery. Batteries have become damn expensive.
One good thing I notice is the car behaves a bit different post battery change. I guess a good battery is essential for all sensors to work to their best.

re: My 2011 Maruti SX4 ZDi - Remapped by Wolf Moto. EDIT: 11.5 years & 1.34 lakh km done

I am looking to buy a used SX4 Diesel as my first car. Family was insisting a new Harrier but decided to spend some years with a cheap and reliable option, since I'm only 22 and have been driving my Friend's car occasionally for a year. Had a look at TDi's too but the 1.6 had injector failures. Keeping a budget of 2.5-3 lacs, found a 2012 SX4 Diesel at 85k kms with 1st owner, in Mumbai.

Had a few questions:

1. What all parts should I look out for while checking the car

2. 1.3 DDiS is reliable but should I carry out a major service after I get my hands on it

3. What parts should be replaced, and how much money should be set aside for this

Usage will be 80% highway and 20% city, since I prefer Local trains within Mumbai, thanks to the traffic and potholes. Will be using it for around 3 years until I replace or get hands on a new car.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Since the car is 10 years old and has run 85k kms, timing chain replacement should be on top of your list. Do a full service (replace all filters and fluids) and also check the condition of brake pads. Replace the tires and battery if required. Clutch overhaul can be considered after driving the car. I would say around 50-60K in expenses. Again, depends on the condition of the things mentioned. Try to bargain and see if you can bring down the prices by 30-40k.

Edit: One thing i forgot to mention, since the car is in Mumbai, check the overall body condition. Look out for rusts on the under body and door panels.

Please refer to this link for the car I'm looking forward too. I have been give a quote of 3L.

https://www.olx.in/item/maruti-suzuk...iid-1697667418

Mainly, it's the things which you've mentioned should be looked after and rest it will suffice with regular service for another lakh kilometers (clutch overhaul if required).

Also at what price should I be closing the deal?

I would suggest to get ZDI variant (mainly for airbags and ABS), won't be much of a price difference in used car market.

If the suspension parts are not replaced, better to get a complete overhaul done

ZDI isn't available much in market. Came across two and both weren't in top shape so had to settle with VDI. Seller is asking 2.75L as final. Insurance expires in mid next month.

Tyres and Battery are new. ODO stands at 87172 kms. Planning to do a major service and rest seems good to go.

What would be the cost of suspension overhaul?

Also keen on changing steering wheel with audio controls and get a center armrest. Audio system and head unit will decide later.

Planning to go ahead. Any inputs will be appreciated.
