I am facing one issue with my car. There is boom sound coming from the back side of my car. When I took it to the MSM they told me that the stock JK tyres are the culprit. then I took it to the wheel alignment shop, they confirmed that there is some issue with both the back wheels. and they informed me that this is mostly because of the bearings of the wheel. then I took it to another dealer ship, and the SA confirmed that there is an issue with the back wheel alignment and spindles in the back wheels are having some issue and need to be replaced., and he informed me that this issue was evident in the earlier swifts, and the company corrected the same. If again such issue comes in the later models then the wheel alignment readings need to be reported to Maruti. so he took the reading from the wheel alignment machine and showed it to the Maruti people. Now the SA informed me that Maruti people agreed to it and my car's back wheel axle need to be checked with another swift and if needed then replaced. Can any one of you explain me the issue in more detail? I am really getting confused,

Booming sound is the first sign of failed wheel bearing, though unclear from explanation, what the dealer is reporting might also cause the same. As long as they confirm and then move to replacement i think you are fine, and it should be covered under warranty. Also please ensure you open job card and track all the visits/work carried out.

how much has your car run?

My car has ran ~12,000Kms. They will be replacing under warranty. that's what they informed me during my first visit. I don't have a job card for this visit. But I will make sure a job card for the next visit. But can you explain why the wheel bearing should fail with in this kms? I have taken well care about the car. no rash driving etc... what more details are you expecting from me for a detailed diagnosis?

Wheel bearing can fail if water has seeped in OR if major impacts have happened on the wheels. Hamerring the rim to correct a bent while it is mounted on the axle is a good way to spoil the wheel bearing.

Since the sound is a know issue according to dealer, might not be a wheel bearing issue and for the time being i suggest you go with the dealers advice. As long as its free replacement you are safe, only if they are planning to resort to some jugad work like what happened in "Swift steering to left" thread you need to be cautious.

My Swift's done around 38.5 K and I want to give it for the 40 K service. Went through some of the recent posts and did get a lot of info but wanted to cross check.

1) Is it necessary to do the front suspension overhaul or retorquing the suspensions nuts?
2) Are Brake Pads to be replaced? Lately, I've been feeling that the brakes don't bite in as before.

And my main concern is that I've lost that turbo whoosh. I hope it's just a case of a very dirty Air Filter, I have a Greens Wind and it's run 10 k so far without cleaning. Could this be the reason? I hope Green Cars does a good job with the cleaning coz I'm really missing that feeling.

If anyone's done their 40 K service, do help with the details cum cost.

Hi i face a problem when i apply brakes and when the car comes to halt.there is a krrrrr sound from front suspension.

I guess due to rain the small mud particles would have entered in to the suspension shocks. i think it would disappear after a water service

Mud particles can never enter the dampers(what you call shocks), that is the not the cause of the noise. This usually happens when the disc brake rotors are wet/dirty, solution is to get them cleaned/dried by running compressed air.

Suspension makes thud sounds only, never a krrrrr sound.

RNS guys gave my dad some hogwash like this. But I am guessing the sound is from the spring that bears the additional weight of the diesel engine.

I have heard the sound on my Swift when the brakes are pushed too hard to stop the car. The sound seems to come from the discs in the front. But the braking ability seems to be unaffected. Never got an oppurtunity to pump the brakes real hard. So not sure about it happening again. Will try some quick braking stops and see if the sounds turn up again..

Nope, intercooler cleaning is required. Lot of oil gets deposited in the intercooler blocking the flow of air. Just open the intercooler and check the pipes, you will find a lot of oil in it.

I just got my car back from 20k service. Bill is 9,863 :Shockked:. 2500 for brake pads & drum brake cleaning. That still is 7k for a service and definitely very expensive. It seems to be in the Fabia league?
