Just ask them to check the brakes, which they do themselves at the 40k service. In my case they did something as "Caliper Pin Greasing", and charged Rs. 250 for it.

Noticed the service light was not switching off after I turn the ignition once. It does not glow once the car starts.

What could be the issue here ? Nothing was done on the car lately except fill fuel from a new bunk.

Jaggu: Any inputs on the cause ? I want to be a li'l informed when I take it to MASS tomorrow. And I hope that there is no problem in driving the car around for a bit till then ? The service light does NOT stay on after I start the car.

Eddy: it means ecu has registered an error code (minor), connect the obd scanner and check. It's difficult to pinpoint otherwise but nothing serious you can drive around.

I am going for 30k service,What are To-Do list for 30k Service, On 20k service i got all the filters replaced and used the oil-flush,should I repeat it on 30k Service?
What about AC service?Though I did the DIY cleaning of the fan behind the glove box.

Rattles are coming from back doors and boot lid.All though car's door are damped, even then scratchy noises are coming.any pointers to resolve these!

Check with the service advisor regarding the EGR system cleaning. I think it is at 30k

Exhaust Gas Recirculation. See: Exhaust gas recirculation - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

My Swift VDI has clocked 34,500kms. In the 30k service, I wasn't told about getting the EGR cleaned.

I thought this was a sealed unit and couldn't be opened ?.

Regards
Ravi.

I'm not sure if its part of the routine 30k checklist, but my service advisor had said that it is recommended at 30k. Personally, I'd prefer getting rid of it all together. Just waiting to go past the warranty in october, then the EGR and the crankcase ventilation will be taken out of my car.:D

The EGR system is a little difficult to access, so the service may take longer if you're getting it done. They probably wont push for it if your car is performing well and giving good mileage.

Guys, 45K service completed

Issues before Service:
1] Only left front wheel locking under hard braking
2] Reduced acceleration
3] Starting problems

Now the car just feels super smooth, and acceleration has surely increased. Brakes have been overhauled and washers replaced(leak in braking system). Overall very happy with the job. Total Bill 1706.

EGR is an essential component in reduction of NOx. On removal of EGR the car may not pass the BS III emission norms.

Hello All

I have a problem to which i need some advice from you all. I own a swift VDI which has done about 9500 Km. Recently i gave it for 10k Service and when i checked on the performance of the car post service, i found that the surge of turbo at around 2000 rpm was missing and the acceleration was more linear. I complained about it and the technician hooked up the diagnostic tool to the ECU and showed me the reading of Boost pressure. If i recollect it right, it was around 101-102 psa (i hope the unit is right) @2000 RPM and around 120 psa @3000 RPM. To validate my complaint we checked the same data in another VDI which had done around 40k Km and the boost pressure was almost the same as mine (marginally lower by 1 or 2 psa). I was still not convinced and i asked them to replace the air filter with a new one. It was also done and now the results are a little better. The surge does happen, however with less vigour and at around 2500 RPM. There is no turbo leakage suspected, No issues with accelerator sensor, air pressure is maintained at 32F and 30R (all these suggested for a similar issue reported previously). I need to also make a note that my old air filter was not terribly bad or anything and it was in a OK condition. Can you help me understand the problem here a little better and any pointers towards resolution would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for your time.

Regards
Bala

@bala80: check the engine oil level after overnight parking, if its more than full mark, reduce the oil level.

I run higher pressure of 34 and 32 psi on F & R tires.

Been having similar problems as bala. will update once the problem is solved.

Jaggu, what is your tyre size.
I have Michelin XM1+ 185/70/R14 tyres & I keep 33F & 30R,
For Swift Dzire VDI/ZDI models Maruti recommends 32F & 29R.
I keep 1psi higher than recommended. I mostly do highway/high speed (120+kmph) runs. Is this tyre pressure ok ?
