hmm, its there in the press release, but not in the brochure or website. If i were you, I'd get it confirmed in writing that it had central locking, or at least some kind of assurance

If you have the service contact's phone number, do check with him.

Your Idle speed control seems to be misbehaving. The Idle RPM should be around 850. and could go to 1000 with AC on.

I don't have access to a DICOR to check the RPM.

Is there anything in the manual regarding this?

The more torque of the DICOR may not need a increase in RPM to run the compressor, but the 950 RPM idling would eat into the mileage.

For your running, the average seems to be fine.
Rajesh - remember this post by you in "cnaganathan" Indigo XL DICOR thread??

My RPM from DAY1 is 1000 with or without AC... is that a problem?

am worried now... of course after nearly 12K Kms I dont have a big issue - I always get a FE of around 14.5 (city/ac) to 18-19 (highway sedate drivings)

let me know sir...

Hi Santosh,

> My RPM from DAY1 is 1000 with or without AC... is that a problem?

Well as far as I remember from group discussions, the TDi idling RPM is 850 and 950 (1000max) with AC on.

Take a look at the message below:

Yahoo! Groups

Though something similar was done at the group meeting in Bangalore, I in my foolishness did not take a look at how this was done. This is DIY.

If this is corrected, you could get even better mileage!

hey Rajesh guess what...

are you a engineer (nope - coz you are a doc, me neither, a commerce guy) - my point is...

ALWAYS measure any scale from a PERFECT 90' vertical eye sight...

since the ODO meters are slight slant towards the front glass - any layman would get a wrong reading!!

So I leaned over and took the reading - guess what, 850 (W/o AC) and 900-1000 (W A/c & alternator fan running)

Problem solved !!

Why the sudden doubt? I am a doctor turned businessman. I am a zero in most of the technical things.

I doubt there is a significant change in the console. I can see these readings without taking any special effort!

> Problem solved !!

You solved a non existent problem!

Rajesh Sir... here you go.

I tried the whole of last week - NOT to cross 2000RPM, and in effect start the TURBO into 'boost' mode. Basically, I tried to drive very sedate - full AC though! and got a very good mileage of 16. This is all in 1-2 gear traffic over 400+ Kms.

Good for you! See now you know what it is capable of! It just won't happen with me since y in town drives are short and slow. The roads I use and the speeds possible will be like any Metro!

I am happy with what I am getting from both vehicles of mine.

All the best for you and your CS!

1st puncture on a owned-car

2 inch nail and what can i say... pulled out the warning triangle and got down to business!! after 15 mins and a bruised ego, i stared at the nail! sticking out of the tyre, DAMN - drove to the only decent tyre shop in 'hosur' and got a MRF tube for 450Rs.

Question---

Are tubes so expensive? 450 for a tube!! And will a 175/80-R14 do justice inside a 175/65-R14 tyre? What problems can I face?

The only time I bought a tube of that size was in April 2006 and it was 290 then.

Won't it be better if you could possibly use the same size tube? I don't have any idea about the tyre tube business. This is a bigger tube than what is needed.

13200Kms Update

Since it was 5K Kms since 1st service, I decided to get the wheels rotated and alignment checked. I was lucky, front left pull (slight) was there and get sorted out. Must be the 'great' bangy roads. Also got cat-con cleaned and oil level checked. Full body water wash and vacuumed, cleaning is only thing TATA does good (LOL).

Severe clutch play was there before I went in there - got that sorted too. (Bangy roads again, 1-2-3-2-1 (gears) within 500 mts - for 10Kms avg a day made this!!

After settling the 600Rs bill, I spoke to the TASS service manager about a slight clutch jerking feeling every time I change gears. He told something about 'EGR' - exhaust gas recirculation valve checking and adjusting next time i come in for 2nd service.
-WHAT does the above mean, Gurus?- He told its just a open-clean-reset-refit procedure and doesnt cost must. But should I do it at this low-mileage car?

--------------------
Yesterday, 20th nov near Elec city enterance (heavy traffic) - ONE MORON in a silver Wagon-R, (who was rash as noted by me till the time) - banged me from behind. "NO DAMAGE" though. just one reverse-sensor popped out and I pushed it back in. Reason given by him - 'saar, i was seeing left to overtake and did not see your car in the front!!!'. I noted he had 'BLACK, REAL BLACK' TINT on his front windscreen, told him to rip it off and drive safe, shook hands and drove away.
