I just accept whatever the service centre pours down the Marina's throat! Except for its 7500kms service (where they seem to have used Castrol 15W40 oil), all it ever received was HP 15W40 oil.

If you have the time, just check the link below.

mine uses GTD, irrespective of model. recently bhpian jkdas had found them using it into his safari despite it requiring a higher grade ( he eventually got it changed to the correct grade for free after following it up)
and since the difference is not much, thought i'd get delvac, since its seems highly recommended here

Hello guys.... 15500Kms Done.

Small Issue:
On 17-dec night, left head light bulb stopped working. i thought i will drive with 2 fog lamps and the right bulb. On 18th night - even the right popped dead!!! damn!!

Had to drive from EC back to BTM with just 2 fog lamps.

I drove into Concorde Motors (near forum mall) and those guys took out the bulbs before me - and I could see both the BULBS ARE OK. NOT FUSED!!!

After 10mins of doing all sort of things they told me 'sir, is it a after-market 90-100WATT fitting' - something wrong with the wiring or "CUT-OUTER". So issue still persists, I have to drive down to Hosur-True Sai works, they showroom from where I got the car and the wiring done.

In case anyone knows what may be the issue, please let me know.

very strange issue + solution

as said above, Concord in Blore told me bulbs are Ok (visual check) and I had to go to Hosur, True Sai works (the showroom)

yesterday, after 2 hours and checking all the wiring and removing the head light assy for EARTHING doubts - final obervation is, the existing bulbs were 140/135Watt on a 100/90 wiring system, so after nearly 6 months the 2 GE bulbs stopped working. I noticed the bulbs worked on a DIRECT to a CAR BATTERY check, but not in the 100/90 wiring!!

Got 2 new 'WURTH' 100/90 bulbs and problem sorted out now...

Really strange!

140/135W!!! I am hearing that for the first time. That is more than double the legal limit here.

And I was happy with my OE lights in the City for the post dinner drive to Hosur on the 7th! Most of the times I was on dipped beam too!

update

Car given for the 3rd service @ 17,800Kms. Going for a long drive - so making sure its in top condition.

Issues explained to TASS

1) Valve door oil leakage - no 'significant' drop in oil level, only that the engine bay can look dirty with all the dust on the oil.

2) While doing a FULL right lock' turn - there is a KAT-KAT-KAT-KAT noise from left front wheel.

3) Since this is a '20K' service interval - getting Engine Oil, Gear Box Oil replaced. Air filter + Fuel Filter replaced. Adding 'bardhal' engine oil additive.

4) Accepted to get the engine bay 'polished' AKa 'Lacquered' Aka 'Laminated'. What words..!!! Rs.1000 for this work..!!

5) Getting the wheels balanced and rotated.

6) Estimate @ 5K, I will get the car tommorow.

5054Rs

Well, the 3rd service got over.

Few details

1) Total bill was 5054Rs. Includes
  • Engine oil (6Lts), oil filter - 1, diesel filter - 1, gear box oil - 3~ lts
  • Wheel alignment (free)
  • Wheel balancing (75 * 5wheels)
  • Wheel rotating (removing each tyre tube from Rim and reversing the thread for even wear (i trust them..!) 300 Rs
  • Cleaning - ONLY part a TASS is good at, I must hand it to them - very nice job.
2) Now the warranty part
  • The Valve door (or the top of the engine has a rectangular metal cover) had a broken Oil seal. The whole Seal SET including the gasket was changed for free.
  • This problem HAD led to a very dirty engine (exterior) all engine oil and dust on it!!!
  • Got 'lacquering' done for 1000Rs - now engine bay looks much better and all shiny.

Please post the full details when you have the time. Even counting the 'lacquer work', the amount is a little high. The higest I paid was Rs 2945.57 for the 45000kms service in November.

Does the 75 per wheel include weights? The charge is high.

The usual 'wheel rotation' is the one where the wheels are shifted from one position to another. The above is new. Of course I have done this to compensate for uneven wear in one tyre, but not like this.

The oil and filter parts seem to be fairly priced. Out of the extras that you have asked for / done, I would not have done the Bardahl treatment.

The balancing is usually Rs 50 + weight. Here it is a flat amount. Moreover if you are in the habit of rotating the tyres, you can do with balancing only the tyres going to the front.

The rotation as mentioned here as a procedure is new to me. Were the positions of the wheels changed also?

Thanks for putting up the bill.

You don't really have to sent a PM to point out the message you have put up.

I also agree, just that for 500, I let it pass (hoping for a cleaner engine)

Yes, I also fought with him (before creating the jobcard, eventually gave in because the only other guy having this machine is a MASS and I personally saw him screwing up my friends NHC alignment settings. So I had to shell out the extra 125!

Yes, rotation of position (front left - rear right, etc etc) + changing --> track to <-- (imagine) he said this is for even wear (whatever)

These are the things which earn the service centre their money. I do wish it gives you a clean engine. I never ever accept anything which is not in the service list coming with the car.

I am a little confused here. The balancing per se won't involve alignment. Or is it wheel alignment and balancing? If so, the charge is fine. Most modern tyre shops do have alignment and balancing and may be cheaper than at the service centre.

Again I do alignment / balancing only if I feel there is an issue.

Ok. Then I never do a rotation!

This is a subscribed thread for me and so shows up whenever there is a new post here. Unless I am out the whole day, I usually check the subscribed thread atleast once.
