Re: Rocket Hatch - Dark Grey GETZ CRDI. EDIT: 1 yr, 15k kms + report.

A few minor issues have cropped up in my car. Some of them were repeat issues from service.

1) Click sound from the clutch, specially in bumper-to-bumper traffic. After careful observation, I found that the sound comes only when the atmosphere is hot. The sound never comes at cooler times

2) AC not cooling as it used to. Earlier setting of 1 is max what I used. Nowadays even 2 @ max doesnt cool as well. Been complaning of it for a long time.

3) Rattle from Steering rack when right wheel goes through a bad patch and steering wheel is turned even a bit. My Fiesta had this problem long time back and the steering rack had to be replaced.

4) Rattles from Seat belt near the top. The click is a big irritant.

5) Steering wheel vibrates in low speeds and high speed braking . No vibrations when accelerating or travelling at high speeds

Will be taking the car to the service centre this weekend. Haven't been getting time to take it to service centre as yet. On a positive note about the A.S.S, they called me up and offered to come and take the car for checking, but since I had use for the car, couldn't hand it over.

BTW, the Getz has crossed just 26k and will reach 2 yrs in August. This is very heavy running for me, considering my previous car; ZEN; just covered 27k in 4 yrs.

Krish

1) I don't think its the clutch.

2) Remove the AC filters behind the glove box and check. If the AC is back to normal then you need to clean them else you will have to get AC gas refilled along with condensor cleaning. I got the gas refill done at 80k kms so 1st check the filters.

3) If under warranty get it replaced.

4) Remove the plastic cover. Tighten the bolt and grease it.

5) Get the front wheels balanced.

I also upgraded from Zen which did only 52k kms in 8 yrs and the Getz has already crossed 80k kms in less than 3 yrs.

Diesel head.

Re: Rocket Hatch - Dark Grey GETZ CRDI. EDIT: 1 yr, 15k kms + report.

Prajesh-: Thanks for your replies

I took the car to the service station. In the meantime, during last Sunday's highway drive, a stone had hit the underside of the car. I got that checked at the service centre. There is a pretty huge damage to the cross member and will have to get that replaced. So yet another insurance claim up :(

As for the other problems

1) They tried lubricating something related to clutch pedal, but noise is not gone.
2) Removed AC filter, cleaned them. The cooling has improved a bit. Will have to check again
3) They will try changing the damper settings. But for that the cross member has to be removed. So will do along with cross member replacement.
4) Will try what you mentioned.
5) The vibrations vanished all of a sudden. All back to normal in this front, though nothing was done about it.

Fellow Rocket owners-: Please let me know if you are getting a click noise when depressing or releasing the clutch pedal. Its a sound inside the cabin itself.

I've given my car for checking it (and steering rattle issue) and the SA has called me telling that its normal and he checked in another CRDi today. I plan to take leave tmrw and spend my day there to see if its normal/an issue which needs replacement.

Re: Rocket Hatch - Dark Grey GETZ CRDI. EDIT: 1 yr, 15k kms + report.

All issues; except clutch click noise have been resolved.

1) Cross member changed under insurance
2) Dampner settings adjusted in steering col and noise has vanished. Steering has also become a wee bit heavier.
3) Seat belt noises have reduced.

So its back to normal. The click noise from the clutch is there in almost every Getz (Petrol/Diesel) as I checked it in the service centre. Not a concern.

Will have to wait and see if the sound increases or not.

The Getz will complete 2 years this August and it'll be time to renew the insurance. I generally like to start searching early to get the best deal.

Do you guys know which all companies Hyundai has a cashless claim tie-up with? My current policy is with Reliance General Insurance.

Trident has with Bajaj Allianz. Very much hassle free when I had to avail for my car.

Congrats on completing 2 years, now you are out of warranty, any mods planned?. I've had a above average experience with Bajaj Allianz but still I would recommend them.

Re: Rocket Hatch - Dark Grey GETZ CRDI. EDIT: 1 yr, 15k kms + report.

Not yet completed 2 yrs but still, THANKS for the advance wishes

No plans for any mods as I'm very very happy with the stock performance and have not yet fully exploited that. I'm strictly a no-full throttle person except on the race track.

I tried a quote with Bajaj Allianz but their quote was too high. I'm going to the Hyundai branch and talk personally to the insurance guys there. Will see how much of a bargain I will get.

That would be a better bet. Lemme see if I can dig up the contact of the Hyundai representative for Bajaj Allianz.

Re: Rocket Hatch - Dark Grey GETZ CRDI. EDIT: 1 yr, 15k kms + report.

My Getz CRDi has seen very less usage in the past 1 year, within me being abroad. My father just called me to say that the accelerator pedal felt a bit hard. And since next week I'll be driving the car to Bangalore, he went to get it checked at HASS.

The personnel there told him that its a accelerator sensor problem and needs to be replaced. Cost is Rs 9041/- . Has anyone faced this problem on their Getz CRDi/Verna CRDi (1.5).

Would the sensor really have gone bad, or should be a matter of replacing a cable if there is one? If the sensor has gone bad, with the A pedal work normally with just a bit of hardness? There is no jerky acceleration of inconsistent response to pedal inputs

I think HASS is taking you guys for a ride. If there is a problem with sensor, you would normally see issues like RPM inconsistant to padel input.

Pedal being heavy/ hard could be due to very less usage as you had mentioned. I think it should be easily fixable by a bit of cleaning of pedal hinges with WD 40 or even petrol/ diesel. Afterall pedal is attached using some hinges/ bolts/ pins etc. Most likely they need cleaning and you should be good.

Krish
Don't understand what is an accelerator sensor. Ask your dad to clarify with SA or get it checked when you are back.
Is it the Accelerator Position sensor (APS) ? I doubt it because the cost of APS is not that high.

Very simple, change your A.S.C , it works best at times

Usually our Getz CRDi gets serviced at Advaith Hyundai, but they have got a little lax off late, and i decided to change it due to 2 reasons, one being the former and second being the location, the new one is close to my place. LAKSHMI HYUNDAI.

Brand new facility on the B.I.A.L road, bang opposite Columbia Asia Hospital , Next to Cauvery Medical Centre.

Got it serviced for 35,000 kms periodic service + Clutch plate Change + Pressure plate replacement + Releaser Bearing replacement . Bill touched Rs 21,000/-, but got some discounts and had to shell out Rs.19,004/-

Overall, a very good job done and delivered On time.
