Oh its a Legend for sure

Tsk you are right about the AC thingie, although this is the wrong thread. i20 CRDi (asta) and asta(o), having driven both, i didn't find any problem like that.

Chevrolet Cruze LTZ vs Hyundai Getz Prime 1.5 GVS CRDi | Car Comparisons - CarWale.com
Here are the BHP per ton for both the cars. I have thrown in the Torque numbers too.

Cruze:
98.68 BHP per ton, 215.13 Nm per ton
0 - 100: 9.6 seconds, 0 - 150: 21+ seconds
BHP per Lakhs: 11.5 BHP

Getz D:
96.75 BHP per ton, 206.68 Nm per ton
0 - 100: 11+ seconds, 0 - 140: 24+ seconds
BHP per Lakhs: 18.33 BHP

I tried a colleague's Cruze, and it does feel more powerful than the Getz for sure - the Turbo pull is kickass!! But yeah, it costs more than twice that of the Getz's asking price - and the turbo lag is a lot more prominent.

Wow Phoenix, thats a new spec that you have found out - Power per Lakh!!!

The Cruze can be termed as a completely highway car while Getz is good in city as well. With the Cruze you have to be more active with gear changes to be in the powerband, but its pretty easy and fun to be in band, with late gear upshifts and early downshifts.

Some relief at last!!!!

At last, after almost 2 weeks of agony, the parts have arrived and painting work has started. The rocket will hopefully ready by Tuesday, May 4th and I will be going to cochin on May 7th to bring the car back.

Don't know why, but a surge of excitement is burbling in me and I'm restlessly waiting for next weekend to dawn.

Good news!! And about time too! Take her to your favourite place of worship and restart the journey

Any WIP photos, if possible? And any news of what are the components that are finally getting replaced, and the $$$?

WIP pics not possible as I'm in bangy and car in cochin :-(. There is a chance that the plastic part behind the bumper will not be replaced, thereby saving me almost 4k. Total cost might come upto 21k and my contribution might hopefully stay at 3-4k.

Next weekend = 15th and 16th. This weekend = 8th and 9th

One more update. When the MGF guys took a test drive, there was some noise from front suspension. They found some part broken, which they had readily available and will be replacing. So car will be delivered only today. All details when I get the bill in hand. This is the problem when car is under repair in some other place than where I am.

Will the suspension part be fully covered under insurance or will I have to pay some part of it as well?

Why don't you ask your relatives there in Cochin to take the vehicle, drive it for a week to see if things are OK, I believe this could save u time. If the suspension components were not part of the initial list, I doubt if the insurance folks would entertain it & you should look to MGF for getting this done for free..

Vinod- My concern is not time wasteage to see if everything's OK. My concern was, I'm not there in person to see the damaged part, if any. Have to ask my dad to go and check anything and everything and that really doesn't give the full picture. My dad is adept at finding any unusual sounds, but the problem is, he has to run around, whereas it should have ideally been me who has to do all these.

About the insurance part, that has to be seen. There was already a squeak from the suspension before the accident happened, and I had shown that to Hyundai service. So if its the same thing which is in question, I would push for warranty replacement rather than insurance.

Latest Update

My dad took delivery of the car after repairs. Total expense from our side came to Rs 5500/- with Rs 1200/- odd charged for scrappage!!!! We are selling the scrap to a scrap dealer so this cost will be recovered there, but I don't understand this funda of charging for scrappage. Is this only for MGF hyundai or for all Hyundai service stations? Has anyone seen this charge?

I'll give a detailed breakup once I go this weekend and get hold of the bill.

Got the Rocket BACK!!!

Friday was an extremely long day for me, and with the excitement of getting my Road Rocket back, the 24 hr wait was agonizing; to say the least. I couldn't sleep properly in the bus and woke up quite a few times to check if I reached Cochin. I didn't have this excitement even I bought the car.

Bus reached Cochin at 9 am (a full 12 hr journey) and my wife and me got down to see my beauty waiting for us . First thing both of us checked was the damaged area. All fixed and ready to go. My father was laughing at the way both of us were looking at the car.

Got behind the steering wheel and it felt weird to me. Didn't feel like I'm used to this car. Took some while to get accustomed to it again. Maybe the 3 week gap did the trick. But the excitement was brewing over. Drove back the 3 kms to my home and I WAS IN LOVE AGAIN!!!!

Sunday was the D-Day, when I would be driving back to Bangalore. Started at 10 am from home. Was driving very carefully to get used to the car again and get back some confidence. At 55.2 kms from cochin, I reached the spot where the accident took place. I looked with sadness, and my wife was all tensed up. Nothing happened and I moved on. The entire drive was a done very slowly as my wife was a bit shaken by the accident and there was a constant refrain from her whenever she saw an Amby. It will take her some time to get used to it again.

Some stats
----------
Total journey time - 9 Hrs 15 mins. usual 8 hrs 30 mins. (including a total of 1 hr for breaks)
Total Distance - 525 kms.
Top Speed - 130 kmph (touched it between Krishnagiri and Hosur 4-lane). Usual 160 kmph stretches between Coimbatore- Salem 4lane, Salem-Krishnagiri 4 lane.
Mileage - 19.7 kmpl. Usually between 16-17 kmpl.

I'm so excited to have the car back that today has become a rare occassion when I've brought the car to office.

Hyundai Service- It's utter crap. Yes, they fixed the damage, BUT I have to following issues after I took my car and even after I gave it back for rectification. Details will be given in the Hyundai A.S.S thread.

1) Seats were full of grease yet again. They blame hyundai for giving beige interiors. Fiesta too has the same colour, but their service centre never stains the car. Even when I took the car to them again, they didn't do it properly
2) Steering vibrates above 110 kmph. This vibration was never before experienced except after 2nd service which was corrected by Trident Hyundai.
3) They charged Rs 1400/- for Salvage cost but not mentioned in bill.
I have raised a complaint with Hyundai. Lets see how good they are. My father paid a total of Rs 5500/- against the Rs 4100/- it should actually have been (inc taxes I believe).

As of now, my service rating goes like this.

FORD > Maruti > Hyundai.

Ford has gone ahead in my view, because they do a perfect job now. Car is as good as new still and a huge credit goes for FORD A.S.S for this. They even gave a lesser insurance quote than outside when it was time to renew with a greater IDV.

Pics are still in cam. Yet to download.
