Can you please provide more details on the new Michelin shoes? I've got Bridgestones as stock tyres and they are good. But I am planning to get new shoes around 30k KMs. Michelin XM1+ are supposed to be really good. What say?

Michelins are really good. They are dead silent and car feels smooth and it is really good feeling.

Re: Indica Vista Quadrajet : An Ownership Log

Last week I changed Brake Pads. I was confused between TVS Girling and Bosch Brake Pads. But later thought that go with what is recommended by manufacture. I bought TVS Girling.
MRP was Rs.1115
Bought for:Rs.1050
Fitting charges Rs.150

Original Brake Pads had some life in them but following are the reasons I changed them

1) Braking was not upto the mark
2) Cracks were developed in Brake Pads
3) Lot of Gad Gad annoying sound was coming from front brake caliper
4) Already covered 68000 KMs with originals so better change them before failure.

Here are some snaps for your reference

1200 Rs. once in 68k KMs is awesome. Are you feeling any major difference in braking after the change? Whats the life of the new brake pads? Warranty/guarantee?

I do not know about Warranty/guarantee. I changed them from outside. I see drastic change in braking ability, it is like pure day and night difference.
I think Brake pad wear depends on every bodies driving habit. Mechanic said he changed Brake Pad of Manza which has completed 30000 KMs.
I would recommend change brake pads every 40k kms or at lesser interval as braking is primary safety for you.

Most important is GadGad thick vibration sound which is really annoying. After changing brake pads it is now thing of past.

I also cleaned AC cabin filter which is really conveniently located in Vista. It is located near front co passenger footwell and really easy to remove. For other cars golve box needs to be removed to access Cabin Filter. Mechanic said it is really convenient in this car.

Re: Indica Vista Quadrajet : An Ownership Log

I have given my Vista Quadrajet for 30K service and below are the things Concorde Bangalore has told that they would change:

Brake pads = Rs 2000
AC gas refill = Rs 2000
AC hose replacement = Rs 1200
Diesel filter change Rs 1900

I think the above costs are on higher side, what do you think? Guys
I had complained that Clutch is hard, for that they said they will "Bleed" the clutch... post that if the performance drops, they may have to replace the plate which will cost Rs 8000.....

So far, the interaction with Concorde has been very jittery and I regret leaving my car there....

Cheers
Anand

Re: Indica Vista Quadrajet : An Ownership Log

Price quoted by service center are certainly on higher side. Generally they give initial estimation very high so that you will not receive any shock when you receive the bill. I will say change Brake pads from outside. Do AC gas refill from outside. Look if AC hose can be replaced outside as well. You will save lot of money.

Only change parts at service center which can not be resourced outside. Service center charges too much for labor and VAT above that.

Last week I had done 70,000 kms servicing and I got bill of Rs.8500. I changed two front door locks as current were jamming and not working properly. I will post my report soon.

@Sushant - Do you always go to Tata A$$ for servicing now after the completion of the 5th service?

I am also in the paid service mode now having done 58K Kms on my Vista and was wondering if i should continue to go to A$$ or any other place like Castrol/Bosch.

Where did you get that brake pad work done?

Yes I always go to TASS for regular servicing. But if things can be done outside I will do it to just save the cost. Otherwise TASS where I go, I have really good relationship there. I have some friends over there so I know my car is in good hands.

Which outside vendor do you go to normally? Is it the friendly neighborhood garage or Castrol or some other company service centre?

The price is for two pads or 4 pads. Bangalore every body is telling it is Rs 2000/ 4 pads. 4 pads comes in a single pack

Then it is surprising how they are quoting 2K here in bangalore. the price printed on the pack in your post clearly shows MRP as 1113/=

Anyway thanks for the quick response

Re: Indica Vista Quadrajet : An Ownership Log

Hello Sushant,

Greetings.

With rising Petrol Prices, I am planning to buy Diesel Car. Due to limited budget, I am planning to go for a Used Car.

What is your opinion? Will 2009 Indica Vista which has done approx 40,000 be a good buy? My monthly running will be approx 1000 KMS.

Thanks,
