Its already been launched. Check out the New Fabia thread. Finally the Polo 1.6 has some competition.

At Last I will be getting my Blue Polo HL TDI

Chetan & all other Polo owning BHPians,

At last I am expecting to get my Blue Polo HL TDI by this weekend. After exactly 2 months wait, I am eagerly waiting for the car.

I am planning to get Diamond Brite protection done on the car in the early days itself (probably next week). Another question to you all, when I was going through the ownership posts I noticed questions raised about the possibility of changing the head lamp to either Philips XTreme Power or Osram Night Breaker. But I do not remember seeing any answers for the same (sorry if I have overlooked).

Can you help me with some suggestions please on the headlamp bulb change?

Like many others I am not for warranty to be affected so would prefer doing just the bulb change if feasible.

Based on Chetan's and other Polo owners notes I am having in mind to go for the speakers change (not changing the HU for now), but even this not immediately.

Thanks in advance. Hopefully soon will write my experience from selection of the car to delivery along with some pictures

Congratulations Karthik! All the best!

I will be changing to Philips Xtreme Power 60/55 Watts Headlights in a weeks time. Will cost roughly about 11 hundred for a pair. Since the power consumption (and also the physical features) is the same as the OEM head lamps, there should not be any problem with the warranty.

Changing speakers is really worth the effort and the money spent.

Thanks Chetan for a Quick Reply . Will definitely go for bulb upgrade. For the speakers, I will try to do it at the earliest.

Update on my friends car: Waiting period kept on extending as usual. Patience finally ran out! Canceled Polo 1.6 booking and booked Fabia 1.6!!! 7.17L OTR Bangalore after corporate discount. About 10K cheaper than Polo! Delivery within 20 days!!

Head light upgrade: I got the Head lights changed to Philips Xtreme Power 60/55 Watts bulbs. I could easily notice the difference. Head lights are much brighter now. Atleast about 50%!

We received the first bruise on our Polo yesterday.

It appears as if some heavy object (most probably machinery) was dropped on the bonnet and then slid down. This happened when the car was parked at work in the covered parking. My wife noticed it yesterday when she drove off, but she assumed that it was something minor.

Chethan & others, could you all tell me what I should do? How much would it cost to get this fixed? Thanks!

Really sorry to see the scratches. I have been looking at getting paint protection film from 3M and installing it on parts of the car that are prone to scratches; Lower end of the bumper, door mirrors, etc. My only concern is yellowing of the film over time and accumulation of dust at the ends of the film which will cause it to look like a line

very sad to see the scratches.

But some of them could be taken care of with a good rubbing of high quality car wax.

bblost: Thanks for your response. Offhand could you tell which brand of car-wax could do the job?

I am a little skeptical it would work as the paint has gone all the way to the metal at certain spots. However I would still like to try it out.

7.17L OTR after Corporate Discount is more than 10K difference. Refer to this post (http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/2058852-post35.html), the actual difference is 21K+. I have to say I am very tempted!

But I am hoping VW will launch the 1.2 FSI or 1.6 TDI next year even though I haven't heard a word about it yet.

There was a lot that happened during last and this week, and I have now ended up with a Polo now.
I am gonna start an ownership thread to describe how it all happened.

Meanwhile, I found a peculiar problem in my car, nothing serious though. This was not happening yesterday. Today while coming back from work, I found one of my friend on the way and got out of the car to talk to him. At that time, the driver side glass was rolled down. So after getting out from the car, I used the keys (pressing the lock button for few secs) to roll the glasses up..And then after chatting with him, when I got into the car and while trying to roll up the glasses (I dont remember for what reason I rolled it down again ) , the glass goes all the way up and as if obstructed by something, rolls down immediately.....

Have any of you experienced similar problem? Planning to take it down to the dealer to get that corrected!!!!!!

Sad to see the pics. I think the bonnet one may be taken care as bblost mentioned but not sure about the bumper - it looks quite deep.

Better to take it to the dealer and get the quote. Alternatively local workshop can be tried but the color match would be a big doubt.

Is it the driver side front door?

If it is, then its a known issue and faced by many Polo owners, including me (can be searched in this forum for Polo threads).
Though the issue is a bit different - the power window switch doesn't work for few seconds/minutes, if the windows are rolled down it refuses to go up and vice-versa.

Car taken to dealership but as the problem is intermittent, could not be replicated and neither the problem appeared again.

All said and done, better to get it checked at dealer.

Congratulations and wish you many many happy miles ahead !

Damage looks quite bad. Sorry! IMHO, wait for a week until your mind cools down and then take a decision. Best to leave the bumper alone.

I do not know about Osram. But generally, Osram bulb's won't last long. Philips Xtreme power is good. I had been to Davengere today and returned back just now. My return journey for about 250 Kms was with head light on. I could easily find the difference.

You tell me!!

1.2 Tsi or 1.6 TDI is a dream, as of now.

@Chethan - I did manage to find out the shop you suggested to buy the Philips Extreme Power headlight bulbs. The person got them fixed within 10 minutes and he charged me the same amount as you. Since it was noon time I just had the light checked and it was okay. Will keep you updated about how useful it was after my drive back to Mangalore tomorrow. Incidentally I observed that the original head light bulbs are Philips H4 as well and do not have a silver coating at the tip which is found on the Extreme Power bulb. Thanks a lot for guiding me to the correct place to get the bulbs.

@Chethan - First let me thank you, your detailed review was very helpful in terms of understanding the new VW 1.2L CRDi engine . Was searching frantically for some reviews before i booked my new Fabia elegance Diesel last week. Understandably no reviews were available for Fabia Diesel yet and then i bumped into your Polo review. You will start hearing more from me since i am a newbie in diesel territory and i am pretty much impressed with your Diesel engine gyan. Moreover i feel Polo and Fabia are more of same wine in two equally beautiful but different packages.(I know lots of Brick bats may come my way for this comment of mine ).
Also i found solace in reading your reviews as you seem to be a Non Skoda - Basher .
