re: Ventastic ride so far...My White VW Vento TDI Highline

Hi All,
Apologies. It's been a while since I updated this thread. I had been overseas for 4.5 months away from Vento. Came back on sunday. The best part of coming back was, Vento started in one go after 4.5 months. I didn't remove battery (for alarm's sake) nor any maintenance was done during these 4.5 months. The experience was as good as parking her the previous night and taking her out next morning.

Vento will be going through few cosmetic changes to make up for ignoring her during these 4.5 months. I'll update this thread as we go through them.

Cheers.

re: Ventastic ride so far...My White VW Vento TDI Highline

Hi All,

I've been fully choked at work and home and hence couldn't update this thread for quite sometime now. My Vento in the meanwhile, has completed 2 solid years and is still rocking. I have clocked only 25k so far (due to frequent overseas trips). 2nd service has been done, extended warranty procured and quite a few upgrades have happened on - ICE, Seat covers etc. I'll update them in the next few days.

**Mods: Could you please move this thread to Long term ownership reviews?

Updates

Apologies, as I couldn't update this thread for quite sometime. My Vento is still going strong and has now done 28k. 2nd service was done couple of months back with bill coming to 9.5k. Also changed brake pads at 27k. Thoroughly satisfied with the car so far and there has been quite a few significant upgrades which I'll cover in the next few days. To start with...

Seat covers from Karlssons. I went for their beige leatherette option with scandinavian leather on body contact areas. This was done around August and costed 19k for the seats. Last month I went again to them and got the door side arm rests, steering wheel leather wrapped for another 6k. Below pictures are proof of their amazing quality and finish.

Finally their stamp on the car...Probably the only other branding apart from T-BHP in my car.

re: Ventastic ride so far...My White VW Vento TDI Highline

Next are a couple of minor, but good upgrades.

1) Indicators on RVMs. Got them from ebay for Rs.1400. They fit on top of OEM mirror cover via 3M tape and wires can be plugged to the existing indicators.

2) Short stubby antenna again from ebay for Rs.700.

And as you can see, I've not removed the sun films to date and been lucky so far. I was going to remove it once I get fined first time, but that is yet to happen. *touchwood*

The Indicators on RVM look nice. Would you be able to share the ebay link and instructions on installation for the rest of us.

And the leather work on the door pads looks very nice

Maybe a couple of pictures below would help to understand how this is fitted on top of the existing cover. Also ebay link can be found here (price seem to have increased now).

3 years completed - 35k kms!

I've not been able to update this thread due to yet another overseas trip which kept me away from my vento & tbts500 for nearly 6 months. But now I'm back in the country and using vento extensively since then.
Did a round trip to Goa; 2 trips to Coimbatore in the last 2 months to make up for the lost time.
My Vento has now completed 3 years and 35kms on the odo. 3rd service costed the routine 13k. And during this service, they replaced my 2 front seat frames free of cost (under extended warranty) as the left one was starting to squeak a lot.
Apart from that, Vento is still going strong and I'll be removing my sun films this weekend, as I finally got challaned few days back (for the first time).

Re: Vento TDI Highline - new Default HU, Steering Controls ?

Has anyone used Media-In MDI Interface Adapter Cable to connect factory fitted RCD 310 music system with Apple I Pod in Vento TDI? From where one can buy it? How to connect?

Just check once by connecting iPod using usb connector. Although it was never mentioned in the user manual, in my new vento with RCD 320 it worked without any issues.

Re: Ventastic ride so far...My White VW Vento TDI Highline

After 4 years of wonderful experiences and ever lasting memories, I sold off my Vento via TBhp classifieds yesterday. The only reason for me to sell the vehicle was the need for an automatic.

Hence this thread's life comes to an end. Hopefully I should be starting a new thread on my next car shortly.

I wish all the very best for the next owner of my brilliant car.
