You mention here that you topped the engine oil, so does this mean that the TDI engine drank 500 ml of engine oil in approximately 4800 km run ?
Yes. The rattling is a minor annoyance that I have to live up with, until VW comes up with a solution. Its however obvious only when you switch off the HU.

Regarding the oil, I got it checked up as I heard that TDI engines are oil hungry in the first few kms. The service personal told that 500ml consumption for 5k run is normal. The coolant didn't require any topup (unlike in the case of Naveen's TDI).

re: Ventastic ride so far...My White VW Vento TDI Highline

Great to hear your positive service experience! I am also hearing some rattles on the left side from my new Vento AT. But figure it's unsecured stuff in the compartments and glovebox that's responsible. 20.6 kmpl is mind boggling- my highay runs are giving me around 15 (for petrol AT that is not bad!) But yet to empty a full tank yet, will update on my own ownership thread.

Hey Ventoman,

Was wondering if there is a way to upgrade the entire ICE not just HU without cutting /damaging wires and hence voiding the warranty. What do you say?

And how much did the Hertz comp and polk coax cost you, if you dont mind? I am growing more and more unhappy with the stock ICE that i keep listening to in my Friends Vento (mine is still 2 months away). I think my current setup in my swift has spoilt me I am seriously considering throwing the entire stock setup out and building my own.

Hertz comp and polk coax together costed about 11k.
Witson HU was fitted without any wire cuts..so were the speakers. Only an addition wiring was added for the tweeters. So I assume the warranty is intact.
Btw, the stock ICE definitely needs an upgrade, if you are keen on SQ.

Hi Ventoman

First congratulations on your ride. She looks Awesome.

That ICE setup is the star of the upgrades you've done though.

Your sunfilm too looks good. Could you let me know which sunfilm you've put in your Vento for Front / Sides / Back, as I'm looking to get sunfilm before summers set in for my Linea.

Thanks. Yes, I am thoroughly pleased with the mods done so far.
Leather seats and Amp, Subwoofer are the only pending ones..which would make my car a complete uber-cool one!

Sun films ->
3M CR70 film for front windshield and 3M SP20 film for side and rear. I am extremely happy with these. The side and rear ones have much better visibility at night and at the same time keep your car cool during hot sunny rides.

Thanks for the info Ventoman..

Could you also please let me know the cost of the film? & did you got them installed from authorised 3M guys?
Although it does not appear too dark, but just to confirm if it has 70% visibility thingy?
With Indian summers, it's almost suicidal not to have good sunfilms in the car.

The front 3M costed 5.5k and side, rear together costed 4k. It was done by authorised 3M guys. Visibility is quite good.

Update on door rattling

Overall, a very satisfied visit to VW service centre.
All,

An update regarding door rattles.
VW Palace cross seem to have taken my complaint quite seriously and brought in an engineer from VW pune last week. As I am in UK on a business trip, they contacted my alternate contact no (wife's) and picked up the car last thursday. They kept my wife informed of the progress and delivered it today. When I spoke to them later, they asssured me that the sound is gone and asked me to drive for a week and revert back if it persists.

Given the fact that they had to drive around from home and back through entire Bangalore (I live in south end and their's in north end). But they never seem to be bothered with it and handled this whole exercise very professionally. I am impressed!

I am coming back this weekend and will update the forum on the work done.

re: Ventastic ride so far...My White VW Vento TDI Highline

All,

Its been more than a week now and I must admit that VW guys have done a fantastic job in addressing the door rattle. I cannot hear a single rattle now.

They reckon the wooden panel added for fitting hertz and polk audio speakers to be the culprit as they were touching the door pad. They have stuffed that area with packing materials following which the door rattle seem to have disappeared. (I am not aware of the exact details as I was out of country when this was fixed. But this is the summary I got from VW Palace cross)

So I am all happy and the ventastic ride continues..

The car has gone through some upgrades in the last 1 month. I'll update this thread whenever time permits.

Hi Ventoman,

Is it possible to buy Witson HU in India? Or is China the only way to get it?

@Ventoman

what is the run-in period did you consider. I am close to doing 1000 KM on the ODO and as far as possible I have kept the speed / RPM less than 100 km/hr / 2500

You will have to source it from China

Ditto!
I was keeping the RPM under 2500 and speed around 100 until I touched 1000KMs.

Long pending update

All,

Please accept my sincere apologies for this long pending update. Work, world cup and things at home kept me from TBhp this long.

Updates done are as below.

1) The vehicle has crossed 6.3k so far and is butter smooth. FE is 17.6 in Bangalore with AC (MID's average FE was close..it showed 17.4 during this tank to tank fill test). I would clocked more miles, but stay in UK for a month has prevented it.

2) Did the floor padding at coimbatore for 3k. Its too good and compliments the kagu mats very well. My cleaner is finding it very easy to clean the interiors once a week and my daughter is happily littering the floor these days . Pics as below

4) Witson HU has gone into my cousin's Vento and I have upgraded to Pioneer AVH 3300BT. I bought this from UK and the sound clarity is much better now.
Enjoy the sample below. I will post more detailed pics later.
