Re: Mahindra Customization Vehicles

Mahindra Scorpio Mountaineer source

Mahindra and Mahindra is popular for their SUV lineage. The Mahindra Scorpio one of the most popular SUVs from the brand and has been around from a long time in the market. Mahindra is the only brand in the country that offers customised vehicles based on their production models and there are quite a few popular custom builts based on the Mahindra Thar. However, the official customisation services from Mahindra also offers quite a few models based on the Scorpio and here is the latest and the most brutish of them all.

Mahindra Customization Vehicles-img_20190119_111547.jpg

It is called the Mahindra Scorpio Mountaineer and it looks badass. Mahindra is yet to launch the facelifted Scorpio based Getaway pick-up truck in the Indian market. Well, this is the answer for the people who were looking forward to that. Mahindra has done some extreme customisations and modifications on the Scorpio SUV and has chopped off the rear portion of the SUV to convert it into a pick-up truck. There is a lid over the pick-up bed that can be used to store all the luggage without putting a layer of dust on them during the road trips.

Mahindra Customization Vehicles-img_20190119_111534.jpg

The Mahindra Scorpio Mountaineer also gets a completely new face. There is a 3-pod headlamp installed and a new grille that replaces the stock one. The headlamps get halogen projector lamps. The stock bumper has been replaced with an aftermarket steel bumper. The bumper gets integrated fog lamps and towing rings. The SUV also gets a hood scoop with a red highlight on it.

At the rear, the spare wheel gets mounted on the chopped door. It gets muscular holders that give the Mountaineer a tough look. A lot of red highlights have been used on the body all around making it look quite fancy. There are quad exhaust tips coming out from under the vehicle and an off-road spec bumper with integrated brake lamps in the rear. Even the tail lamps have been updated with the new ones to add the rugged look.

On the side, the vehicle gets flared wheel arches with bolt-on cladding. There is even a shovel mounted on the side of the flatbed, which can come quite handy when the vehicle gets stuck during expeditions. At the roof, Mahindra has installed dune lamps for better visibility of the vehicle at night. It also gets a functional snorkel that makes it much more capable and increases the water wading depth. There are custom deep dish alloy wheels with off-road spec tyres on them. The whole body gets a custom paint on the outside with the red highlights.

The changes are not limited to the exterior of the vehicle. Even the interiors get the red highlights on the dashboard, steering wheel and the gear lever. Mahindra has also added new seat covers with that matches the body colour and gets the same red highlights.

Modified Mahindra Bolero 'Limited Edition' is bolder & more upmarket
(Source)

Mahindra Customization, the official modification house of the company, however, has come up with a jazzed-up version that looks bolder than the stock model. Dubbed the Mahindra Bolero Limited Edition, the modified UV carries some radical styling updates. The front-end features a massive grille that extends to the lower half of the new bumper. The front fascia even gets new fog lamps that carry projector fixtures, and a bonnet scoop. The major highlight, however, comes in the form of a pair of LED cluster assembly above that have been positioned above the headlamps.

In the side profile, the Mahindra Bolero Limited Edition features black-painted five-spoke alloy wheels, custom-made wheel arches, and a snorkel that features a Mahindra insignia near the air intake. The fenders hold custom-made matte black side-scoops, while the UV even receives custom side footsteps. At the rear, the custom-made Bolero features a new spare wheel cover, an updated rear bumper.

On the inside, the Mahindra Bolero Limited Edition features a revised colour scheme. The updated dashboard carries circular aircon vents, while the updated door pads get map pockets and bottle holders. The cabin even gets new floor carpets and roof lining. Taking centre stage on the new dashboard is a new MP3 player. The bucket seats have been re-upholstered and even get foldable armrests.

Mechanically, the Mahindra Bolero Limited Edition stays the same. It draws power from a 1.5-litre, 3-cylinder twin-scroll turbocharged oil-burner that outputs a maximum power of 70 hp and a peak torque of 195 Nm. Moreover, the UV is even available with a 2.5-litre M2DICR turbocharged diesel engine that offers 63 hp and 180 Nm. Both the motors come mated to a 5-speed manual transmission.

Re: Mahindra Customization Vehicles

Have You Checked Out This ‘Officially’ Modified Mahindra XUV500
Moonraker SUV?

Source

The modified Mahindra XUV500 from Mahindra Customizations is bold and highly luxurious
Mahindra and Mahindra is among the only few car manufacturers in India to offer in-house customization of their vehicles. In fact, the custom vehicles from Mahindra aren’t merely graphics jobs or any sort of minor visual updates. Instead, they carry a much stronger visual identity that make their car look simply too good.

Case in the point here is this modified Mahindra XUV500 from Mahindra Customizations. This modified Mahindra XUV500 is based on the facelift of the company’s second-most expensive SUV after the Ssangyong Rexton-based Alturas. It has been named as the Moonraker by the customizers and comes with a bolder exterior and a lounge-like interior.

While it’s true that the modified Mahindra XUV500 here gets many styling enhancements, it has been made sure that this model looks nothing like anything but a XUV500. The original SUV’s DNA has been retained while giving a more rugged appearance through a set of many new bits.

Mahindra Customization Vehicles-modifiedmahindraxuv5005696x928.jpeg

The front of the modified Mahindra XUV500 has a steel bumper that carries LED lamps. The roof gets dual lamps that make this SUV more appropriate for night time driving. The front grille has been also suitably modified for a bolder appearance. The plastic molding on the lower section of the SUV makes it look more rugged than the original version.

The wheel arch extensions further amplify the rugged touch that is carried by this modified Mahindra XUV500. The new alloy rims are shod in mud-terrain tires that should make it more capable off the road. The customizers say that the Moonraker is extremely comfortable on the long routes and the revised interior is in accordance with this claim.

Mahindra Customization Vehicles-modifiedmahindraxuv5002696x522.jpeg

The third row of seats of this modified Mahindra XUV500 has been replaced with electrically adjustable seats that are more comfortable. The original upholstery has given way to Nappa leather material. Interior features of this XUV500 include a smart TV, a mini refrigerator, 12V charging ports, USB charging ports, Rolls Royce-inspired roofline, PlayStation 4, live streaming system, and WiFi.

The engine has been kept stock. While prices of this modification aren’t out yet but we guess one would have to shell out quite a premium for this customization.

Interesting. How will such modifications will be taken in consideration in light of the recent judgement by the Supreme Court on modifications.

I guess that as it is a Manufacturer Level Modification, it would be changed in the RC and be RTO approved as well. Let's wait and see. Read an article yesterday where the Off Roading Community of Kerala is fighting with the Govt. to not take action against their modified vehicles which were so helpful during the Floods. There should be amendments to that law in view of modern day technology and available modifications that do not have the community at large and make the vehicles more practical and capable.

Re: Mahindra Customization Vehicles

I daresay, NONE of the Mahindra Customisation offerings over the past Decade, have been anything but a wrapper, or have added anything at all to the capability or reliability of the said vehicles. Happy to be disproved.

With Mahindra customization regularly spewing such designs, we will have no dearth of contributions from them on this thread.

Not the airbags please. I hope this is equipped with "ADCISDA" - Any Direction Collision Impact Sensing Deployable Airbags.

Mahindra's new customisation webpage for car modifications

Mahindra has introduced a new website that offers various customization options for its range of SUVs.

The website currently displays customisation options for the Thar, Bolero and Scorpio. Models listed include the Thar Daybreak, Scorpio Xtreme, Bolero Stinger, Bolero Attitude, Scorpio Dark Horse and others. Modifications for the TUV300, XUV500 and the KUV100 are likely to be revealed later.

Customers can buy a new Mahindra SUV or provide a pre-owned car (which passes the fitness evaluation). All cars need to be brought to Mumbai after their registration process is done in client cities. Mahindra will coordinate the transportation of cars via their logistics partners.

One of the USP's of 'Mahindra Customisation' is the fact that factory warranties and component level warranties remain valid even after modifying the vehicles.

Thanks to BHPian RavenAvi for sharing this with other enthusiasts.

Re: Mahindra's new customisation webpage for car modifications

This is good news for people who love modifying their cars in India, but what about the fact that the hon'ble Supreme Court of India had passed a judgement last year stating that any modifications from factory fit would be illegal?

Does this find a loophole in the judgement considering that newly-bought cars can be modified before registering with the RTO? in that case, how will previously bought and registered Mahindras fit in for being modified once they have passed the fitness evaluation?

Also if this does manage to find a lacuna in the system, would it be fair to others who have modified their cars like say Isuzus or modified Gypsys and Endeavours and have been booked by the law? In the Above pics, while the TUV3OO seems to have modifications to acceptable standards in the eyes of the law, the Thar however, simply is overkill against the judgement.

I guess only time will tell how this plays out. If Mahindra however manages to get away with this under the radar, won't be time before other manufactures jump in for their share of the pie and start rolling out similar schemes under their "In House Modification Program"

Website shows 'New - Auto Expo 2018' suggesting an inactive old website.

Never been a fan of Mahindra customization though - as most concepts are just plan overstyled.

Re: Mahindra's new customisation webpage for car modifications

Mahindra truly knows how to get around modification bans! Went through this website for a bit and loved what I saw! However, the only issue, I think is that this website hasn't been updated since 2018.

Probably not, since the article says that the cars need to be brought for modification after the registration.

Re: Mahindra's new customisation webpage for car modifications

This is not new. This website's been there from 2018 or even before that. Couldn't find a link mentioning this website, but here is the link (Mahindra Customization Vehicles) to a Team-BHP thread reporting about the same program.
