Here is what i did.

Took a kitchen bag. Half way through the bag, i cut it 50%. This gave enabled me to wrap the whole disc without any issues. I just covered brakes from front to back and overlapped the cut portion to make sure no paint reaches the brake. Also, keep the bag away from the wheels too so it doesn't touch it when spraying.

When you are done with the spraying. Wait 30-40 mins after last layer so that everything is dried when you remove the kitchen bag from back. Make sure it doesn't touch the plasti-dip while removing. One can pull the bag to one place at the bag and simply take it out. Very easy. Dipyourcar.com has a tutorial on it.

As for overspray on tires, don't worry about it. When doing the lip of the wheel, it is important that you spray in such a way that it goes on tires too. Its a non-issue. After 5 coats and drying time, i just peeled it off. Another way is to use any rough cloth to just get it off the tires. In my case, the spray was all over the side wall. A simple wipe of cloth and peeling in corners fixed it.

Spraying plasti-dip and removing excess from tires was the easy part. 10 mins wait between the sprays was hardest. :uncontrol

Probably because of the photo angle, i kinda find the chrome look to be a bit more appealing :D.

I was thinking about doing it for the factory hubs on the car. But then again, that could be a sure shot way of portraying oneself as a douche bag as nobody really plasti dips the hubs.

What color is your 600rr alloy? Maybe you should try it on that.. I have a black powder coating so not messing with it now. But a friend did orange on his white ninja.. :D

KW - Heh, Noways i am touching my baby. Its black btw. I was planning for the truck and car. I wanted to go for alloys for my car but darn expensive, so was thinking about a cheap option to make the factory hub caps a bit more appealing

Love the new look. Good thing is its easily removable.

Now all is left to determine how to remove plasti-dip from the flag emblem in the middle. Next would be plasti-dip the roof. What does the gang think about that? Should i do it?

Can't do it without messing with the discs. Can probably do after removing wheels but don't have tools to remove it too. May be i can get Caliper covers or paint it. Will try to find a way but its been on my mind the day i got it. :D

Edit: I don't think i will plasti-dip. Too much risk of calipers getting hot and causing more problems.

Hey all,

Thinking of 'Plasti Dip'ing the kidney grills and the chrome inserts over the doors. Was earlier going to 3M it. But after checking the results on various - no - numerous youtube videos am feeling rather convinced to do it.

End of the day its removable. So no harm right?

Going to Order a few Black cans from Mr. Gandhi. Don't know if he stocks clear ones. Else order those too.

What do you guys reco? Go for PlastiDip or stick to 3M?

Coming from a guy who sprayed his laptop, this is correct. If you're keen to tinker around and do something yourself, I'd say go for it.

I finally decided to give it a go and plastidip the windscreen on my bike; the results were very nice so I decided to give it a try on the plastic panels under the seat. I still had some leftover so I plastidipped the exhaust heat shield too(as its prone to scratches).
Pictures(taken with a phone, so pardon the poor quality).

Notice I removed the plasti dip from the side panels, no residue and no marks whatsoever. Just make sure you make the coats thick as I had made them a bit thin which made it hard to peel off; had to use nail polish remover for the overspray/thin coats.

4 coats at least, some parts 5. And plastidip is heat resistant up to 300 degrees and only flammable when its not dry. The outside of the exhaust does not get nearly that hot so I guess its safe.

:OT Can't believe you noticed that heh, a bit overkill for the DoTA/CS I *used* to play; but boys and their toys right? :D

In addition to being undo-able, the grippyness of the rubberized finish can be an advantage in some cases, especially when its actually "dipped" in a can of the liquid stuff. Eg. making rubber handles for metal tools.

Update Guys.
Talked with Cosmotech (Mr. Gandhi's Co.).
They are all out of the matt black spray can stock.

Anywhere else I can get it from?
Checked on ebay. There is one guy selling from Bangalore. But its 2k for a can. I think Mr. Gandhi's Co was selling it for 1k a can ( which seems reasonable considering this thing is being sold in US for $10 a can ).

Anyone sourced it at a better rate?
