It should spray onto wood just fine.

It
might survive, but as soon as there is a puncture or tear somewhere, it will probably grow if you pressure wash it. This also depends on how thick the coating is.
That said, a low-power pressure wash might be better than a manual wash (scrub).

There are vdo's on youtube where Fonzi (dipyourcar.com) is a hitting a 100psi pressure washer on his Audi S4. Like Rehaan said, if there is a rip then it could enlarge.
Ive been following up on this product for the past few days quite intently. A friend of mine (who owns a garage) and myself are thinking of bringing DYC to India. I think there is a good market? Would love to hear some opinions and suggestions from you all.
The only Indian distributors address has been taken down a couple days back from Plasti Dip website. Good time to zone in and make a deal dont you think? Thinking about reselling and even opening a studio for this. For now, getting a friend in singapore to source Plasti Dip for me.
Hi All,
For some time, I a have been thinking of giving new look to 16" stock alloys of my Verna. Plasti dip looks like a good and reversible option.
I found it available in a website called "autotrends.in",
http://www.autotrends.in/buy-exterio...ray-paint.html
I notice that the brand available on this website is "CARLAS", but most of the pics i saw on this thread are of "Performix".
Since there is not much difference in the cost, can anyone suggest which one is better out of the two brands? Also, is one can sufficient for 5 alloys?
Thanks in advance.

You will require two cans for 3-5 coats from what I understand.
One can is most certainly not sufficient.
Also in most situations (abroad) plastidip might last well on alloys, but in Indian conditions (especially on broken roads which send stones flying onto rims, scratching em) don't expect the coat to stay undamaged for too long.

The more coats applied the better the result. 5 cans should be sufficient but maybe its wise to consider one more just in case for touch ups and so on.
I wonder if Carlas is as good as Plasti dip?! Has anybody used this product? I am on the lookout for a few cans of black too.

I plastidipped the Chrome lip of my Storme |
clap:From Elegant with Chrome to a more
beasty look after the DIY. That is what I can make out and it does gel so well with the color of your Storme. On a White I am guessing it would look even more better!

Are you happy with the results? Ive been waiting for someone to give their opinions before I bought a few cans. My intentions are similar to yours, would like to coat the chrome lip on the rear of my car.

I'm happy with Plastidip, not too happy with the finish in this case as I ran out of material because I was using an already used can, I want to redo it with a new can.

Did you paint it while the lip was on the body, or after removing it? Whichever way you chose, it looks really good :thumbs up
Cheers,
Vikram

I cut the S T O R M E lettering so it remains in chrome, not recommended as the continuity of the coating is broken and it's easy for miscreants to peel off starting from any letter. |
looking good Luke! :thumbs up
is the Carlas better than the one from the dealer in Mumbai (the one Rehaan got from)? how's the finish? how many coats (and cans) for this finish? i'm thinking of plasti-dipping the plastic beading on the door and bumper of my car clap:

I masked the car slightly, I did not remove the lip, sharing pics of WIP:
Pic shows the lip after 2 coats of Clear Plastidip
After a single coat of Carlas Plastidip (Matte Black)

Hawk, I found Plastidip by Performix from Cosmotech Mumbai to be better as the spray as well as the content lasted longer and was more even, Carlas was good in the initial spray but lost gas soon after with the paint still remaining. It also threw out paint in small blobs towards the end.
Wow. The car has totally transformed into something else. Great job. I absolutely love the new front end look. Thinking if this will look good on my bronze grey coloured Sunny?
guys i'm planning to paint the plastic door and bumper protectors with Plasti-Dip. some of them, specially the rear bumper one, has aged like Rehaan's laptop :D should i paint it matte black or would bright matte red look good?
also, any suggestions where i can find masking tape in Bangalore?
