Re: Inputs on Alcantara needed

I'm wondering why hasn't anyone checked the Alcantara.com website
Alcantara Global Distributors

The India distributors are:
Luxpel Group,
NO.301 ALPINE CASTLE, THROUGH MIDTOWN SOCIETY, GHORPADI
PUNE 400001
t. +91 93 26 820386
info@luxpel.it
www.luxpel.it

Was also pleasantly surprised to see the number of colours available, and the various designs / patterns. Alcantara Automotive Applications

If anyone goes ahead with this, do share with the group.

Cheers!

That was the first thing that I did when I decided to put Alcantara in my car. I spoke to those guys and they are OE suppliers and do not sell retail. The only reliable source I found was JPMCoachWorks in the US

That's a bummer! Maybe writing to Alcantara directly may help?

Incidentally, I'd once checked with AutoPsyche and he mentioned that he can do Alcantara interiors - he's in Gurgaon, but maybe a word with him may help. I remember the price quoted was about 10k more than for leather, for a complete refurnishing of the car's interiors.

Thanks. Will check. Alcantara is available from the US for $ 115 per yard (58"x36") + shipping. I have searched everywhere and haven't found a place where it is cheaper. There are a few ebay listings, but the authenticity is dicey. I am almost decided on getting 2 yards and doing an Alcantra + Leather combo. Watch this space for details

I own a Skoda Octavia zeal edition which comes with alcantara leather, holds up really well in Delhi's heat and looks so much more premium than even valcona leather which comes standard in audi.
I recently went to the Delhi Stanley and they have something just like that material, and it's amazing quality, problem is Stanley India quotes ridiculous prices and offers very less discount on leather hides, but we researched a lot and found a place in Karol Bagh Delhi called Deepak leathers, they can get you any leather hide from Stanley directly at prices atleast 20% less than what the showroom quotes, its authenticity is verified cause I saw the owner at a furniture fair in Delhi at the Stanley stall. Check them out and they can supply you alcantara or the same type leather

Re: Inputs on Alcantara needed

Thanks for the input @zee_bat. Alcantara is a synthetic fabric. There is no such thing as Alcantara leather. Glad to know it is holding up well in Delhi climate. I have already ordered it from the US and will be brought back by a friend who is travelling by the end of this month. Thanks again

The Zeal edition of the new Octavia which was on sale some 6 months had OE Alcantara seats. Maybe one of those lucky owners can weigh in about the usage experience in our country.
Guess the first batch of Cedia's too had on the sides.

Re: Inputs on Alcantara needed

Skoda is struggling to sell their Zeal editions especially the Superb and the Octavia. Don't think Indian buyers have taken to the suede feel as compared the leather or leatherette.

Strange that you think that the dismal sales of the Zeal editions is due to the use of Alcantara. Is that the sole factor or are there other factors as well?

Good point. My personal opinion is that Octavia and Superb clientele want the leather feel and even if Alcantara is expensive and sought after globally etc, it won't cut any ice in India. Additionally, the Zeal interiors are too black without the accompanying chrome or aluminium accents.

Net net, the only Superb's still available are the Zeal ones. Everything else is sold out!

I don't think you're right about the sales figure man, when I went to buy my Octavia in Delhi in August there were only 2 left in all showrooms! Plus while the Indian customer does like the beige interior better than black, a few people like me like the true European feel of these classy black interiors. Also, there are subtle aluminium and chrome inserts at just the right places in just the right amount, I might be biased but truly the interior of the octy is exquisite
Superbs in zeal might still be available cause the new superb launch is due this year.

Hey, will you post lots of pictures of your Octavia Zeal? Haven't seen even one in the metal here in BLR.

Mindblowingly good! Wow. I'd also recommend a German product for maintenance. https://www.carpowergrid.com/car-car...cleaner-400ml/
