Hey dude !
I know that carmodernize has painted a full santro mat black... well i like the concept.. but i really didnt think its ment for a car like santro... But very true that it will give ur car a very dull finish.. n not really sure wat you could do if you gonna have some scratches.. there woudnt be much dat you can really do to treat it... Plus you will have to really take care of your car.. !!
My advise.. go ahead and do it... it will look really cool on a Honda.. !

If my RIDE is ever gettin painted its gotta be a Matte Black....

I have this in my mind from long time...

As my business is somewhere connected to paint and things like that i have a great idea...

First paint the CAR like with black paint...
Then do a Lacquer but add this additive to the Lacquer its called matting agent...

It'll give your car a little Glossy-Matt effect this will solve all the problems like peeling scratching etc........

I'll be using this on my CAR.....

Well the problem with doing a Matt Black car is that you need perfect bodywork to go with it. What I mean is that if you paint the car a matt colour then you need to make sure that any dents, dings, waves etc. are sorted properly, otherwise once finished the defects will stand our prominently and will look bad. And yes Matt colours & lacquers are available in the market.

Anyways best of luck with your idea.

Hey Jigar,

As discussed my advice to you is scrap the idea since you are not doing it the correct way. 2k paint technology(Standox, Du pont etc) is to be used with the proper material in a dust free environment(paint booth) to give the desired effect. You will need to scrap your car to bare metal and then apply the necessary primers etc.

You mentioned that you are getting the entire job done at a place which does not have a booth and is costing you a total of Rs13k only which is unrealistic.

Please rethink and change your painter is my advice.

viper saab: don't weigh the quality of a paint job according to its costs. i can certainly hook you up, rather your car for a paint job around 12-15 k, fairly good job.

jigar: stick to the normal ohc black (whatever wierd name it has), and if your head/heart is yet stuck on that matt black, then get the hood done in matt blakc, that should suffice.

Matt Black is used by large organizations to identify their cars in some parts of Africa where car-jacking is very common. THis makes the car more difficult to sell as well as easier to identify when its being stolen.

I've seen many of these matt-black Landcruisers, Accords and Camrys and they look horrible after a month or so. They look pathetic, but the employees dont mind because its a security feature and nobody is worried about external appearances in Africa anyway - the whole idea is to keep a low profile and look as unattractive as possible.

IMHO your car may look good (and 'cool' ?) for a month or so, after which it will look like it is absconding from the scrapyard.
