Nice mods. Appreciate your work. I also purchased Maruti original fog light switch to power up the fogs and rear fog, but I couldn't find those wire attachment terminals . I just placed the switch in the empty slot for time being. I will take your picture as a reference to my local parts store and get them. Initially I thought of soldering wire directly to fog light switch pins, but I was afraid if the plastic would melt down due to heat. I will buy these connectors at the earliest. Thanks for sharing! Also can you please share the type of LEDs you used for ambient lighting in the cabin?

The only mod / accessory missing in your Baleno is a Tachometer. Since it is a 4 cylinder vehicle, Ritz tachometer will do the job perfectly. I did a DIY installation on my Wagon R LXI from this thread. Since Wagon R is a 3 cylinder engine, I used A-Star tacho which is a direct fit.

Re: Mods, tweaks & upgrades for my Maruti Baleno Sigma

Nice work with good functional modifications, i also feel my radio signal is too weak outside city limits. Wonder if my grandi10 also has incorrect wiring set with my Pioneer HU.

Thanks. No, this is not available at Nexa. It's aftermarket. I have shared the video link of the guy who did it with his contact details, no affliations. Many guys are doing it in and around Delhi afaik.

Thank you for replying back. I checked the video now. The guy clearly mentions that he will do it only with fitting and will not sell the part separately to anyone. Not sure if this is true. I am from Chennai. If you can feel my desperation
Not sure how else could I lay my hands on this part.

Yup, I think that's the norm with these guys. Although I have mentioned the part # of clock spring but other parts you will have to source locally or should be available easily at wholesale accessories markets like Karol Bagh in Delhi. Also it is an expert job and I wouldn't recommend getting it done from first timers.

Cheers...

Strange.

This guy had told me that he would courier it to my hometown, Chennai shouldn't be too far off then.

Re: Mods, tweaks & upgrades for my Maruti Baleno Sigma

Maruti Baleno 3rd/4th Service at 9090 kms on Odo

So nearly 1 year and 9 months have completed with my Baleno. I could/did not get the 2nd service done, as most of those jobs like cleaning the air filter, a/c filter I did myself at home. So nearing the 10k mark, it was time for the first major oil change service. As even this car in my stable is driven less, I could manage only 9000 kms in nearly 2 years. The Nexa Service GM informed me that as the car had passed the 1 year stage, the system will only pick up this service as the 2nd year / 4th Service / 20000 km service. I agreed and the total estimate quoted to me was around 4.5k which included 2100 Rs as Service Charges.

So it was 9090 on the odo

Oil filter and oil plug ready to be replaced with new. They just don't change the oil plug washer but change the whole plug, as per their sop.

The Coolant being removed to change with new. As per their SOP, they remove just 2L (or say half) of the Coolant and replenish it with 1L fresh coolant and balance is water. But I insisted they completely remove the old coolant and add fresh 2L coolant and 2.1L deionised water.

All the stuff that was changed besides the engine oil. Notice the 500ml of DOT3 brake fluid that was also replenished.

The front disk brakes were also serviced. More than 90% brake pad life was left

The final bill for 4928/-. Wheel Balancing and Alignment was done complimentary on my insistence and I was only charged for the weights. Quite a bargain. Just for reference I have been quoted 12k for the 1st year service of my BMW R1250GS Adventure motorcycle...

Seeing the ease of living with this Baleno, I have once again gone back to the Maruti Nexa fold and picked up a XL6 Zeta MT last week.

Maruti Baleno 4th Year Service at 19268 kms on Odo

So completed 4 years of absolutely tension free time with the Baleno and with nearly 10000kms from previous service more than 2 years ago, it was time once again for the 4th Service. They did the 40k service according to the time elapsed thing that they follow and it included replacing the Spark plugs and fuel filter in addition to all that was done in the previous service. As the fuel filter was not in stock, it was skipped for a later date.

19268kms on the odo in 4 years. Averaging just 5k kms a year.

Old and new spark plug (with part# visible). Surprisingly the spark plugs were quite near to their end of life as is visible in the photo at just 20k kms interval whereas the normal lifespan is nearly 40k kms -

Specification used this time was 5W30 instead of 0W20 used in previous years as per updates from MSIL. The brand was CASTROL Magnatec Professional and it was of semi-synthetic type afaik.

Wheel Balancing and Wheel Alignment was again done complimentary along with Front Brake Caliper greasing. I only paid for the weights and other parts as before.
Mods, tweaks & upgrades for my Maruti Baleno Sigma-baleno-20k-kms-service-4th-year-04012024_11.jpg

The Total Bill was just Rs. 6009/- which was satisfactory for the work done.

Re: Mods, tweaks & upgrades for my Maruti Baleno Sigma

Two observation:
1. The filter used ends with K10, Baleno uses K00 or K20 - K10 will cause reduced performance
2. Engine oil: 0W20 should have been used, there's no official circular from Maruti

Thanks for the info.

As for the oil, the owner's manual clearly states that 0W20 and 5W30 can be used interchangeably for the same operating temperature ranges of - 40°C to +40°C, though 0W20 is preferred.

K10 filter information seems plausible, though if you could elaborate as to how that would cause reduced performance? And why would an original Nexa Showroom Workshop take the risk of getting sued if what you say is factually correct?

Cheers...

AFAIK K10 filter has 6 holes and the K00 and K20 have eight

I doubt if that is a very scientific way of judging a oil filter's performance, though I will definitely take this parts issue with the Nexa guys.

I dont know if this quite missed your eye but I noticed a mismatched part number of the oil filter mentioned in the final bill as against the oil filter photo which you posted. 16510M65L10 Mentioned in the bill and 16510M68K10 in the photo what you've uploaded. Please get this corrected with MASS ASAP.

Regarding the compatibility of the oil filter, please check with your parts catalog book / dealers system as to which is the correct oil filter for the Baleno

Wiper Changed 19-03-2024

With more than 4 years past, it was time to get the wipers changed in preparation for the oncoming summer/monsoon.

Got these Hella Premium ones in the correct size of 21" and 18"

Mods, tweaks & upgrades for my Maruti Baleno Sigma-maruti-baleno-wiper-change-19032024_1.jpg

The part# and MRP. Got it for 300 bucks for the pair. Great clean sweep now.

-----------

Also got hold of the OE Oil Filter which someone had pointed out in previous posts. Though I confirmed from the spare parts dealer that both are used interchangeably without issues in the Baleno. So keeping this for future reference -

And the OE Fuel filter which was not available at the Nexa dealership -
