Guys, as some of you might know "Dhanno" was in need of some new tyres & a suspension overhaul for some time. I had been aware of these issues but was letting things be for the past few months due to a paucity of funds. Which meant I was driving around in a car with an uncomfortable and noisy suspension with tyres which were at the end of their life cycle!!
However, from this Tuesday itself there were some favourable events so some work has started on the car to bring it back into perfect shape. Here is the first update:
Here was the state of the previous tyres - Michelin Energy XM1's.
Since they were completely worn out they were replaced with new tyres. This time I wanted to try a sportier tread so went in for 195/60 R14 Michelin Pilot Preceda's.
Here are a few pictures of the tyres & them fitted to my car:

edit: they look like PP1 after seeing the tread carefully.
Nice tyres the Precedas are, better then then Energy in terms of grip and handling but the ride is not as good and they dont last as long as the XM1's either.

Since I've only been able to drive the car about 220-odd kms since I got the tyres fitted I haven't been pushing it much. Here is a short review based on my experience till now:
1. Grip is improved massively but that is not only due to the Preceda's better grip vis-a-vis the Energy's but also because my previous set was nearly bald & hence hardly operating at optimum levels.
2. It rained a bit on Tuesday & wednesday and during that period the performance of the tyres was very good. Situation seems promising for future wet drives.
Full review later once I'm through with the running in of the tyres & the suspension overhaul.
Keep tuned to this thread for further updates about the suspension work done & the improvement from the same.

Good choice Ragman. But since ND's roads are nice, did you look at the Falken RT615 ?

Falkens dont last at all & he knows better abour tyres and always prefers michelins.
Michelins rock! Wernt your previous tyres a 185? If so...good job with the 195. A 195 keeps the Vtec damn agile and yet offers just the right grip levels.
I guess your Vtec has done over a lac kilometers. Second suspension change?

They do really well on wet roads. Most of my driving since I upgraded to these last year was in the wet (unending rains of last year in Kerala), and hot damn, I loved them!
Except for quicker than normal wear, these tyres kick @$$!
With your daily driving I guess you would be nearing two lakh kilometers very shortly,you deserve the best when it comes to tyres and your choice as always perfect.

Yes he had 185/65-14 energy XM1 and his dhano has done more than 130K kms n still on stock clutch i guess :Shockked:
