guys, especially neel and gopi...branded neon tubes are good if you are not into rough driving over the potholes and speedbreakers...neon breakage in our roads happen mainly due to small stones on the road which hit the underbody ,while using branded neons , this can be prevented by installing transparent plastic tube casing which is also readily available..branded neons like streetglow and other brands cost from 6K upto 10K or even 12K depending upon the quality..

OR ELSE...you can go for local made 10" or 12" neons which you can find installed inside buses(tourist buses)..each one costs about rs:250...for a small car you'll need 4 such tubes(front, sides and rear)....and these tubes are rugged and more BRIGHTER..i've installed 4 tubes under my scorpio on the sides alone(see pic in my gallery)..cheap and easy to install or replace...in chennai these are available in most shops in GP road....will post some pics of the tubes shortly....

I have had Neons underneath my Ikon and they have never broken. Now I have those long series LED strips which do a complete cover of the ground below. But you know what? Somehow I seldom switch those on! (I got them fitted at the dealer on my sisters insistence)

Racing car like Decals ? Sounds interesting! Any pics? I guess people will see that you have a really a cool ride (read a racing car).

The blue neon in Scorpio is awesome. I just wanted like that ( a red/orange one). Can you give me the full address or phone number so that I can contact them.

Thanks, Gopi

rogermann: if you look closely, i just washed those tubes before taking the pic.so, yes they are water resistant until they are not submerged. the neon tubes inside are glass and the outer shell is plastic glass, the circuitory is enclosed in metal as you can see.

gopi: right now i dont have the exact address because i lost their business card. but most of the shops in GP road sell these. if you are planning to go there, please go early by 9 or 9:30 because there'll be less crowd and you can the job done neatly. anyhow, i'll let you know the address shortly. and what car do you have??

Thanks badboy for the comment. I got it, it is next to melody theatre right ? Now I have a santro, but this is for my SX4 which I will get in 1-2 weeks. I am planning to put spoiler, graphics, neons etc. I am collecting information so that I can do it once I get my vehicle. The reason I am asking for any contact person is I can get it done at decent price, otherwise I need to bargain with them.

gopi, there is this place called premier automobile parts or something like that, but the name is premier..and there is complex right next to it.i bought my neons in one of the shops inside the complex(i think the third shop straight inside in ground floor)i think its opposite to that congress office

get a red one for your red car dude, red will be more suitable...

and please tell me the budget that you are planning to spend on your SX-4..if you wanna totally pimp your ride, then we can take it to KIT-UP ,coimbatore (i study in coimbatore). rajiv(kitup) does a awesome modjobs.

You dont have to buy the plastic protective case separately. The neons are sealed inside the casing to make them last longer from water seepage.

Costs vary with the sizes. Check my earlier post for details. I got 2 tubes for around 2k and the switch can be placed anywhere on your dash.

For anyone who needs these kinda accessories in chennai, go to Mahaveer Auto on G.P. road and ask for Ajith. You can refer my name (Aditya and i drive a pearl silver esteem) for a discount. Still... dont forget to bargain.

P.S. Most commonly available color is blue. I asked for orange as it matched my instrument panel but only blue was available. LED's are however available in other colors (multi color too).

Initially I don't want to spend on performance parts (warranty gets void). I just want to put some nice graphics (stripes), head light & tail light tint, spoiler, and neon. I will check the shop which you told and also Mahaveer as Aditya mentioned. Can I get a violet tint for head light.
Thanks for the info guys.
