BMW M3/4's (G8X) M Performance Steering Option on my
G20 M340i. Complete know how, FAQs & more details are provided;

3:35 - Final Look & My Thoughts on why I did not opt for M340i's M Performance steering wheel.
7:07 - Final Thoughts about Interior in Harmony / Conclusion.
I ordered this M Performance Steering through Navnit Motors Dealership & it arrived within a week as it was in Stock in India;
Always a special feeling to unbox Car Parts :D
OE BMW Part No. mentioned & belongs to G8x cars i.e M3 or M4;
Why I ordered the M3/4's M Performance upgrade Part ?
Ever since I laid my eyes on the above steering which is an M Performance upgrade option for the M3 / 4 I loved the idea of getting this particular steering wheel for my car.
The highlight of this steering is that this has a blue centre marker @ 12 o'clock position & the M colour stitching.
Where as the M340i's M Performance steering has a red centre marker and white stitching;

Installation;
When I was ordering the part i.e. M3/4's M Performance Steering for my M340i this part no. (32 30 2 462 910) did not show its compatibility for M340i, but with the shape being same I did not understand why it couldn't fit. Hence before ordering I cross checked the Airbag part no. & found out both the M3/4 & M340i use the same airbag (Same part no.) hence that gave me confidence to go ahead ordering this part. However, BMW Navnit Motors wasn't confident about attempting this retrofit hence the installation was done at BMW Infinity's, Turbhe workshop so special thanks to BHPian & friend
Maverick5490 for his support & assistance because this is the 1st such install in India :thumbs up
Some close up shots of the new steering wheel before going in;
The Airbag / Horn pad coming off;
Both the steering wheels side by side before the child parts from the old steering go onto the new one;
Transfer complete;
^ As I already explained in the video as there is no Carbon Fibre interior trim in my car hence i did not order those CF child parts. The previous steerings Aluminium finish child parts were refit to maintain continuity to match the Aluminium Tetragonal trim, dashboard, door trims etc. of my car's interior.
Done;
Final Look;
Alcantara on the seats & M tri-colour Seatbelts;
The Interior is now in harmony with this M Performance Steering Upgrade;
Job Well Done :thumbs up
What an upgrade. Hats off to you. I really appreciate great steering wheels, like tyres are the contact with the road, a good steering wheel is the primary touch, feel, emotion and all encompassed joy you have with the car.
Big thumbs up again.
What a lovely upgrade Karan. I have been watching and reading your content for years and decided finally it's time to contribute to team bhp by writing. And to start that on your post is putting the foot in the right direction!

Thanks Lionell. Well said, I Agree. That's what I did i.e. changed the tyres to non - RFT tubeless Michelin PS4S* & now the steering as this was really required because currently in the BMW line up all the M-Sport steerings look the same (from 2 GC upto X7).
:thumbs up

Thanks for the kind words & selecting this thread as your debut post, wishing you all the best for your journey on TEAM-BHP :thumbs up
Awesome, it looks nice.
What are the technical advantages of this steering wheel over the stock one?
Looks amazing! If you don’t mind my asking, what did you do with the old steering. Would love to pick it up for my 330i if it’s of no use to you.

The final look sums it up. I have been wanting to change my steering wheel out but haven’t got my head around to why I would but for the alcantara. I must say the M stitching that goes with the seatbelt does total justice to the elegance of the car’s interiors. What I loved about the interiors to start with was the subtle touches of M that don’t scream at your face and this steering’s subtle hues of blue does just that.
Pretty cool looking.
Hey Karan, doesn't the M Performance wheel come with carbon fibre bits and M1 + M2 buttons?

I am wondering, what additional benefits do you get other than alcantara grips and the blue tick mark? I personally like the red tick better as it looks sportier. Also, how much did you pay and is the price justified for the minor cosmetic upgrades?

Hey Bhishma, Thanks for sharing. Yes, I am aware but it requires coding (which I did not want to do) to work hence did not order.
INR 93k including GST.

The M3/M4's M Performance upgrade steering felt lighter (did not have a weighing scale handy so can't confirm the variance) than the stock one. Other than that the Alcantara being more grippy is a good thing plus this material may not get as hot in sun as the stock one. Overall the buy decision was to make cosmetic enhancements in the interior.

Thanks for your interest but I have some plans for that hence would not be selling it now.

I have already explained that in post #3, however I quote again;

The CF parts, paddles have to be ordered separately, check this link;

^ In addition to the steering cost the CF Trim & Paddles cost an additional U$ 1000.
About the M1 & M2 buttons those were blank and have been plugged by Alcantara style fleece tape, here's a pic. for your reference;

Already answered above.

This M1/M2 retrofit is plug-and-play. Doesn’t require coding
There is an M track mode module also to complete your setup. I’m currently using this module on my BMW 630i GT. This module requires coding after installation. Coding will be done by the seller itself. Attaching link for people who are interested. Will add few pictures of my setup later
