Pic of my Lancer DOHC

Hey Ya'll,

Heres my baby

Right now she is being overhauled as she has clocked 100k

However the DOHC Head has seen only 10K.

This is an old pic of the engine. Now it has a bit more bits around it.

More pics to come soon.

Ohh I remember this car now. I have seen it at Automech. But you mentioned that there have been no performance gains yet.

There was a problem with my Clutch leading to a lot of transmission loss. But after she was overhauled I can defy see the difference.

Got the head myself....also got the rip off from the custom myself. Then spent a week in my friends garage in pune trying to get things together.

And then had to take expertise from KS and N1 Racing...and last but not the least...Automech.

The FFE has made such a significant difference in my band over 4k.

Her footwear needs chaning now...Right now I am running on 205/50R16.. whereas I am thinking to go down to 195/50R16. 205 definitely gives a lot of traction but I think going a bit down will also help in the initial ranges.

Any suggestions.

Rocker the other car that I am working on right now is none other than the Padmini...the aimed specs are as follows: -

40" oversize pistons
FFE
Solex (35mm Butterfly I think)
High lift cams (in talks with this fellow in Bombay who has it)
The guy who is restoring it for me says he can also reduce the differential ratio from a 9/11 to a 8/9

Anything else you can suggest on this?

IIRC you got it done from Pune right? Somewhere on the old Bombay Pune highway (your friends workshop)?

Sweet! If you don't mind me asking, how much did the new head from RPW cost you (including freight)? Any trouble with shipping/customs?
And what kind of performance gains has it given you?

The head itself costs somewhere around 35k.. but the customs is a rip off.

Because its a 2nd Hand engine...it comes underscrap and there is a lot of fine & penalty to be paid..which completely depends on how the officers wife was with him the previous nite..

If your car is in a good condition...then you feel an increase of around 15 bhp straighaway without any upgrades.. and then it all depends on how you harness the enhanced breathing.

With FPR and K&N I felt an added bit
Then with freeflow another bit

and then with racedynamics ECU even more..

The only thing I am waiting is for racedynamics unit to have ignition control as well..which will be the final test. Right now I am running fuel only .

If you are serious about your Lancer then I would strongly recommend the Head.

Usually it always seems as if the officer caught his wife cheating on him.
How do these guys import engines then? They are obviously all used, but prices are quite reasonable.

I do not understand this. What is controlling the ignition then?
