Roof box

During holidays / vacation I have seen many cars (including sumo, qualis, tavera) stacked with suitcases, bags, fluttering plastic bags, old / odd luggages on the roof carrier drenching in rain and roasting in the sun.
A plastic/fibre box if fitted to the top of the car would add lot of convenience.
Something like this is available in UK.

Roof Box eventhough looks small can take 420 Litres
Advantages
No need to worry about rain/heat.
No need to worry on visit to bar (coffee) if luggage is under lock.
No need to worry of small loose items that may fall off.Safe for rear vehicles also.
Thermal insulation under the roof.
Any from Studds/Aerostar?

I have one for my Safari, that I bought in Chennai. These are Thule copies which are made and sold by a Mahaveer motors. The whole thing including fitting cost me Rs 10,500/-
This has freed up a lot of space in the boot area for my dog. When I return from a long trip, the whole box including the aluminium bars are suspended from the roof of my garage. Re-fixing it is a 20 minute job.
A very useful piece of equipment.

Thule roof box for Tata safari.

I am looking to install a Thule or similar roof box on my Safari. I am looking for the closed box type ones.
Can anyone provide details of any dealer in Mumbai?

Thanks in advance.

jaysmokesleaves,

have you got one for your Safari?
I'm looking for one very basic and practical roofbox. I just checked with Thule dealer and he said that they don't have the fitments for XUV500 as of now, they may get it in another 3-4 weeks time. the cost for the basic one (pacific 200) will be around 30k + fitments will cost 16-18k which looks to be on heavier side for me; it may be decent for the quality product we may get but again, my usage is once or twice a year and I may not be able to get the worth of it is my concern. I'm also looking for some alternate options (Mahaveer Motors, Chennai and Tropicool products).
Let me know if anyone of you have a better option in mind for my kind of requirements.
Thanks.

Hi Ketan,
Did you install any roof boxes on the XUV.
I am also half minded in going for roof box on my XUV 500.

Thanks
