Thanks,

First of all this car is very close to my heart, as this was our first car.

Just wanted to give it a new lease of a different life after clocking 1.60 lac kms on odo.

Had a great mechanic who was more than willing to get my mission accomplished.

The whole engine was done at home
The paint done at Bimal Whitefield
Upholstery done at Indiranagar
FFE by Raj Hingorani's Mech.

At least my car is satisfied that after 10 years of serving me competently, i've got this done.

Yes it has got an Subros a/c kit(Real Big One)

Doesnt much affect the acceleration, Have had no problems using the a/c after FFE installation.

Only problem is the cabin noise, No R&D done on that for time being.

Its ok man as i drive it alone every time.

For the family there's always the BEAST at home.

Sure do drop in to my place,u can call me on 9886053699

Thank you for your reply

1) Yes the pistons are Gold anodized(Done at a local Goldsmith),
WHY? Gold is a better metal than the alloy used for Pistons.
There's no grub on your piston head because of the blasting they undergo during compression.
They also dont hold heat for a long time.

2)Yes the same rocker arms are forged.
Simple reason because my mechanic wanted me to do it, he says they dont wear out faster once you forge and even reduces heat during their operation(I TRULY dont know what my mech had visualised)

The head work was done by Bangalore Motorcycle Work mech,(improves fuel flow)
Inlet and Exhaust port mirror polished(Simple polishing done to attain smooth surface).
This will help again in free fuel flow to the carb and again attain a complete FFE.

With all this the compression is good and has a great pick up and speed.
1st gear goes upto 40 kms
2nd gear upto 65 kms
3rd gear upto 80 kms
4th gear attained 135 kmph

I dont want to abuse my BABY.

Pls tell me about the small mod you've been talking.!!!!!!

Kadam, if you're not much worried about fuel efficiency i would suggest making the secondary butterfly of the carb to open by the throttle linkage and not by vacuum. It does give a considerable improvement in performance.

I've never heard of anyone gold anodising/plating their piston and i doubt it has any benefits. I have heard of ceramic coated pistons. Have done it on my old bike.

Thanks for your inputs will surely discuss the same with my mech.

Fuel effiency? my dad would surely know once my montly fuel bill raises.

Tough call on this. But for your input will surely give it a thought if it does not have any other side effects.

As i said earlier, this car is only for my daily commute to my office and back home with 55 kms a day travel.

I think this mod is meant to people who would like to take their cars on track, or for drag purpose(Correct me if i am wrong)

Thanks again,

About the gold anodizing. My mech is like a doctor for my cars, would have to give in to him for the passion he shows towards the cars.

Sankar can u elobrate on how this can be done.I would be interested too in opening the secondary butterfly in my 800 with the linkage.

Hi,

Its pretty simple to do. You can do it by 2 means:

1> Disconnect the vacuum lines and remove the diaphragm and attach a spring to the secondary butterfly in tandem with the primary. The exact length and tension of spring will have to be manipulated.

2> Have someone make a geared linkage.

Would recommend the spring as it is easily reversible.

Yes it's a simple mod like Viper said.

I went with the second method i used a linkage. It was a very simple thing i spot welded a cut piece of washer to the primary in such a way that once the primary is open by about 25% the washer will push down on a slight projection on the secondary and opening it gradually. Both the primary and secondary would be open 100% when the throttle is pinned down.

It's hard to explain without a picture and i don't have that car with me now to take a pic.

'

Get a conical air intake and change the end-can if you want just the sound. Make sure you specify the type of sound that you want from the car.

Automech is pretty popular in this dept.

You need to tear down your existing exhausts

Go in for a 3 - 2 - 1 HEADERS, use the flexible hose after this,

Complete it with the tail piece, fill lots of glass wool into the new tail piece.

You'll get a heavier sound, like those on a Honda City.
