I have a karizma with 100w headlight connected via a relay and that gives more light than the zen. Hence, my immediate quest is to get a decent power in the headlight. Some options I have identified are as follows.

1. Fix Osram nightbreaker bulbs which are 60/55. (apprx: Rs 1500)
2. Fix 100/90 Philips rallye with ceramic holder and relay. (apprx: Rs 600)
3. Fix fog lamps in the front bumper at the slots provided (apprx: Rs ????)

Any suggestions will be helpful. Any ideas about a place which has a good auto light mech in bangalore.

Go for option no. 2. However, be sure that the bulbs are not fake. Total work including bulbs, relay, holder and heavy duty wires should cost you around 1000 bucks.

I had the same problem in my zen and the solution was your option 2.

Yeah i stay in Koramangala. Where exactly is this autoshop? are they reliable? I was also thinking about the option 2 itself since the same setup i have been using on my bike since 1 year and there are no issues with the reflector melting or something like that.

I stay in Koramangala too :). Its in the road opposite to HDFC bank, take the first left and keep looking on the left hand side. Its near the temple. They are really good.

Ok cool. This weekend I will need to go and check. These headlights are really a pain, can hardly see the road in low beam, while high beam is just about managable

Tacho installed. thanks to Satya (EVO).

Option 2, like someone said, is great, and I experience it everytime I take the zen in the night. I did in MASS during the last service. Got new relays installed as well. Got the Phillips 'Extreme power' back which was the last change I made to the Headlamps.

hey this is the kind of tacho i am looking at just the right size and digital, just lovely, Long back i Had seen these huge ones: completely Digital Tachos which cost 10k+, and the moment they were on the whole thing lighted up and it was completely digital, but you dont get them anymore as the market has been flooded with taiwanese and chinese products, does it also come with a shift light ? also is ur car Carb or Fi as i was told that if u have an MPFI the connection for the tacho goes to the ecm and that installation itself is half the price of the tacho = 1000-1200 bucks, if can also be connected somewhere else which i dont remember ( distributor i think) but you dont get accurate reading please advise and if you dont mind please post a pic of the same durinng the night as well, i want to install a 3 in 1 tacho which has all engine temp, oil temp and oil pressure, but i have seen in many cars that after a while those 3 in1 always get ruined, they never show correct RPM reading, i was in a OHC just this evening at my mechanics place with that 3in1 the car has an OE RPM meter but at idle both show different reading, maybe he hasnt plugged the 3in1 to the ecm? i am wrong ?

Where did u get the tacho from? how was the installation cost?

Hi guys,

As you know i also have a 99 carb zen, in march 09 i had swapped a 16v esteem enginewith g/box which was actually an MPFI engine but used it with a carb , used the carb from the 8v esteem engine, just did a basic overhaul with new pistons/rings cleaning, did a run in and was driving fine, then came the thought of selling it but then again i changed my mind to keep it, until 1 day in aug i wanted more power, hence i removed the engine and went ahead and Bought .20 Oversized Pistons MGP and rigs, opened up the engine, did the block boring as well to the new specs of pitons, but however after that never installed the engine, went back to Stock for the reason that i am phobic of going mpfi since my car is originally a carb, GOin FI will mean to change the entire wirig of the car from head to toe, plus that wil be used wiring and not new, when i used the stock engine with stock carb at speeds of 130-140 on the expressway if downshifting while revving hard i would feel the car grasping for fuel as all is stock, NO FPR o anything installed,

i am told that if i go FI it will increase the BHP as well, I Use it as a daily drive as well hence want a quick initial along with a decent enuf mileage, now after driving stock for about a month i want the esteem engine back in the car, what do u suggest i should do:

1. I have the option of giving my esteem engine paying 40k more and getting a baleno engine(head/block) with complete wiring and g/box which is in good condition, but that will mean changing the engine foundations? please throw some light on it. but again i have spent quite a bit on the car already in terms of ICE, engine swap earlier, paint etc so dont want to spend a lot. approx cost for above: 45-50

2. get webbers, but for that buy used webbers, Custom make the intake manifold, but im told if using a webber for daily driving will kill my mileage? approx cost 22-25k( 12 webber +10 manifold)

3. get the engine back in the car, get the esteem carb race tuned from Panchal who is a specialist in carbs and get a hi lift piper cam BP285 + camgear/vernier pulley, i have a friend going to the uk so he will get the job done from piper, its cheaper than getting it from here. approx cost : labour for swap: 5k, carb race specific tuning: 6000 , piper cam 130 Pounds Regrinding the original one = 10400, camgear cost in india 8k, total 30-32k+

4. Buy 2 nd hand wiring from CST Road Kurla which is approx 10k, go MPFI , hi lift cam + camgear approx total 28-30k + labour

5. DONT want to get a twin carb as tuning that is a big headache.

Also Braking upgrade to esteem type 2 brakes ( with a few zen D components) total with booster, hub, discs etc is approx 10k for all new MGP parts.

apart from the points above if thers anything else i need to know please help me out.

ALso would like to know more on Fuel pressure regulators(cost and where to source) , High Pressure Fuel Pumps (cost and where to source ) aluminum flywheels ( how does it Help) apart from weight reduction?

my current budget is 20 MAXX 25 which should include everything,

i already have stiffened suspensions but will get koni or pedders in future.

PLease give me your valuable suggestions.

sorry for the long story , thanks in advance.

@zeeshan - no it doesn't have a shift light. Mine is MPFI. Here is the night pic.

sorry for the image quality pal.

@motomaverick - i got this from ebay(US). Installation cost me 200 bucks :D. In case if you plan to get one, make sure you also buy the holder. GlowShift tacho's are smaller than the ones available here and it's real pain to get an holder for it.

Hi All,

I went to autshop in Koramangala and got the headlights upgraded.

1. Got a pair of Narva 90/100
2. Hella relay with ceramic holders

Total cost 1000 bucks

I also did a small upgrade to the existing ICE.

Existing ICE was:

1. Pioneer Cassette Player
2. Orion 2 way 6" speakers

Changed ICE"

1. Pioneer Cassette Player
2. Chinese FM Modulator with 4 GB USB support
3. 6x9 Pioneer 3 way speakers
