hey you guys,

i need your help with something.. i am planning to buy an esteem (carb). i want to replace the engine with mpf-i of either esteem or baleno (secondhand, of course). can you guys give me the no. of karan shah for the same? but firstly, does he do this type of extreme mods?
secondly, can anybody tell me where i can get an entire K&N air induction kit for my safari 4x4? also, has anybody personally used automech's free flow exhausts? are they up to the mark & do they give enough performance boost (the claimed 15-20%).
and thirdly, does anybody know where i can get an LSD ( Limited Slip Differential) for esteem/baleno powertrain? i know that maruti used to provide these for prepping up their rally cars and so did honda for their citys, until they were banned by the authorities. so, are they available now? and if so, do any of u guys know where?

and finally, i know this is off topic, but can anybody in mumbai tell me where to get a CHEAP sbk (ninja zx-6r, cbr 400r or 600r, preferably in the range of 2-3lacs, upto max of 5-6 yrs old).

firstly , why buy a carb esteem when u want to replace it with the mpfi unit !

Regarding the bikes , its not a :u select , pay and buy .
It will need a lot of patience to find good one within yr budget, Rtech can explain more on this.

If u want a 600 , for 3 laks , u might get a 94-95 model
and for the 400 , u can find a 97-98 model for 2.25-2.75.

ya... automechs products are substantially good..... i would suggest you to go for the stainless steel ones....you will get lsd at demontweeks ....

dipen you might just want to check on the prices once again , a good condition f2 say a 94 model also won't come below 3.25 lakhs , thhat also will take a lot of time to find one .
and a good 400 rr won't come below 2.75 , literally impossible to find one .

and veyron the automech exhausts are good enough , and good luck with ure hunt for a sportsbike .

hey veyron buddy...if you need anything in performance parts i can arrange it for you...may be anything from a K&N stock replacement filter or a cold air induction system...performance plugs,preformance wires,performance exhausts..headers...audio system's...and anything else...

hi dipen, the main reason for going in for a carb esteem is the cost factor, as i can buy an esteem and get it kitted with a baleno engine for about 1.75-2.25 lacs, methinks. my first choice was a zen, but the small wheelbase will cause handling problems, and besides , the money i save on the car can be put in for more kit: an mpfi esteem, 2000 model, retails for about 1.9-2.25 lacs, and a same model baleno for about 2.7. now you do the math!!!

and as for the sbk, i have seen a 2 honda cbrs but i didn't drive them. both were up for sale, one an f4i for 4.10 (2000 model if i'm not mistaken) , and the other i didn't even bother to ask, as i didn't like it in the first look itself. i mean, don't get me wrong, it's just that the other model was too shabby and roughly driven. also, i have seen an suzuki gsx1000 for sale; price-4.6 lacs.
the other models that i've seen in the ads are:yamaha v-max-1998 model-5.00 nego,
honda cbr 900rr 1997-5.2 nego.
the reason i specified CHEAP was, i know that there are good bikes out there, and i was wondering if any of you guys had any contacts for getting the same. i mean, c'mon, aren't we dudes supposed to look out for each other?that's what we do in the bhp family, right?

2.25 is expensive for a Baleno engine. iceman91 was giving me an approx quote of 1.5 lacs including all other work. & by the way, can anyone tell me how much will a 20-30k odo Baleno(full car

Hi manson,
The prices that u have mentioned are all as quoted by dealers or sellers.
The actual prices are preety low.

eg : Manjunath from Banglore sold his 2002 F4i for 4.25 , well he was asking 5.75 initially

Brett from Mumbai sold his 98 400 RR for 3.00 lak last year.
He earlier had quoted 3.75 for it.
Got his 2003 end manufactured GSX 600 in Dec 2004 for 6.00( a year old bike).

Fazer 600 , 2000 model sold in delhi OCt 2004 for 3.25, dont know the owner.

Vmax 98 model sold for approx 4.00 ( not too sure) , negotiations beginning from 5.5.

ANd ya, all absolute clean bikes with genuine paperwork

It greatly depends on whos more needy !!

hey rchimni i am located in bombay...and yes i can arrange for a K&N filter...for a scorpio,qualis or any other diesel car..well ive already installed a filter on a friend's scorpio and qualis...we prefer box replacement filter's for diesel car's..as the air intake ratio is very high...and the conical (universal) filter's make an aweful lot of noise...while drivin and at the same time they tend to get worn out faster due to high intake...so box replacement is an ideal suggestion...for diesel car's...i'll pm you my number so if you need anything just call me..

yo iceman, speedsatya and gamerno1, what i meant when i said about the 1.75-2.25 lac range was that the esteem AND the baleno engine will come in this range. meaning, 80-85 grand for the CAR (esteem), and 100-120 grand for the baleno powertrain-ecm, fuel pump,et al. included, get it?i meant a TOTAL expense of 1.75-2.25 lacs for the car, baleno engine and mods included.
and dipen, you're right;like i said before, cheap sbks are available, it's only a matter of timing and luck...and hey superpower, i ain't in any hurry......... by the way good idea though-hey dippy, do pm me if you find/know of/see a good cbr600f4i or equivalent in the price range that you said(3.00) . thanks
oh, gamerno1, 20-30k on the odo is okay, but which model are you looking for? here are some indicative prices that i've seen: (all single owner, so-so maintained)
2000 model-2.60-3.00
2001 model-3.00-3.40
2002 model-3.50-3.90
2003 model-4.00-4.40
2004 model-4.60-5.30
and rchimni, yes k&n filters are available for suvs. but dragger can be of more help to you on that one. and yes, they are available in pune, but don't know the exact loc.
