SKODA key at Rs.8000?

I need to get a duplicate key for my RS, called up the "nice" skoda dealer, and their best quote is Rs.8000!!!!

Is it true? Are these keys really that expensive?

Can someone point out if there are guys in Calcutta who can make the so called immobiliser keys? I have already tried one place called keyworld.

Guys from Delhi, if you know a place then pls let me know as I keep travelling there.

I`m waiting for the official estimate from skoda, but 8000 is a crazy price!

Mods, where does this thread belong? If not here, then pls do the needful. Thanks

Evo, though not 8000 /- Skoda keys cost like that. My friend had a similar incident. At first his dealer quoted 7500 /- then he bargained it down to 5000/-. You should also be able to get it for about 5000. Try to bargain as much as you can as dealers tend to charge crazy prices. But I'm not sure what you mean by "immobilizer" key. Do you mean the kind of I-CATS keys ? Don't you SKODA owners get two keys ?

The remote is built in the key assembly.. but still, 8k is a lot! Get hold of Mintu at the A.S.S. Some kharcha paani should set things right.

Now I understand why SKODA keys cost so much. But 8000 is ridiculous ! A new remote for my Autocop key less entry would cost Rs.3100 and a new key for my Indica costs 800. So they could have charged about Rs.5000. They are charging double. Don't be ashamed to bargain with n official dealer, you need to get it at as much low price as possible, right ?

p.s i would never have to buy a key for my Indica as we get four or five keys !

Edit :

Evo, if you make an aftermarket key be careful so that the service guys cant understand that it's aftermarket. You know SKODA na, they can even void your warranty for this reason !

Even 3100 is too much money. I once bought a Hyundai Cobra (by Autocop) remote for 600 and Getz duplicate key for 300.

haha, no shame in bargaining with any one! especially shameless dealers, wait till you read about what this guy did when I gave my car for painting, I think its quite sensational.

No warranty left on the car, so I dont care in that sense!

Lucky, getting so many keys! I guess with skoda its catch 22, cant give many keys cos they are so expensive, and so we`ll lose keys and so they`ll charge for the expensive keys.aargh!

Is this original Aurocop ? I don't think so. Because mine is a different series of Autocop but there cant be such a huge different in price. And if thats the case, i am going to charge my dealer tomorrow ! However, when did you get the remote ? I got it in 2003, prices mighht have been high at that time.

I agree with Neel... I paid 280/- for my MPFI Zen's key at the Maruti dealership and 500/- for original Nippon remote.

I have no idea about Skoda but a good place to start would be to call the helpline number from the manual or Contact

Didn't the RS come with a fancy keyfob similar to the one in the picture?
If yes, then is it really worth getting it from outside?

Oops, 8000/- for a key!! Way too much, consider yourself lucky that you got saved from other mechanical expenditures, as one can just imagine, if a mere key comes at 8k, what would other essential parts cost?

Here's the vRs keys for you guys.

SKODA key at Rs.8000?-key.jpg

If you are getting a duplicate key just because the buttons and the lock is not working and the skoda dealer's say that it's battery cannot be replaced.

Don't be fooled by this.

It can be done .

If it's for some other reason , i will contact here at the Delhi Showroom day after and let you know the price for the same

Go to Ebay.co.uk, you get blanks cheap. There is a way of programming the key with a VAG.cOM
