Filter (SRF) with self-modded airbox, Iridium plugs, Mobil1 full synth, full custom FFE.

Let me know the outcome of your porting. I'm going to do a grounding kit DIY soon.

The Aveo modifications thread

hey guys dont know if this is the appropriate section for the thread but here goes..

this thread is mainly for us aveo owners to come together and share the mods and options we have.im sure weve all done something or the other with our cars and have experiences to share..

to start off with my car the aveo 1.4 has a FFE with a super dynamics end can, a K&N universal filter,plugs and cables (pointless i feel) . the FFE was done by BAR Exhausts.
earlier i was running an exhaust done by a tuner friend but the performance was pathetic!
im running BAR now and now im really happy with the performance.
next my car is going for a port polish.

as for ice im running a pioneer head unit with 2 kicker c12s, an eclipse mono,an xplod 50/4 channel amp,jbl power series components at the back and dls components in the front.

Though I am a AVEO owner from past 3.5 years, my car is in stock condition, no mods, no fancy exhausts, no boom boom ice.

But I will be around on this thread, I never that so much can happen on an AVEO, as almost all of them I see on road look completely to be stock loaded.

Interesting thread. I have been using this for last 1.5 years and only mod was the 90/100 Bosch headlamp

I was thinking of K&N stock filter, but did not do it yet. Was thinking if it will yield any difference. And here I see FFE. great going my friend. i will closely watch this thread.

Anything related to suspension? The bangy bumps are growing taller and taller day by day

the suspension is a major pain bro.they say its for the added comfort.
in about 30k kms the suspension comfortably gave up!! i contacted methods for eibachs but they dont have it for the aveo in india yet. they have some fresh stock in now.i have to go check out the line up.
im running on 15s with some yokohama rubber AVS sport 195 section to be precise.atleast the handlings improved.

@wildchild4lyfe
Nice to see an AVEO 1.4 modded especially with FFE.

I was looking out for a suggestion on the Air Filter,
1) If there would be a considerable difference in the pick up, especially at Lower RPMS for which the AVEO is infamous for its sluggishness.
2) If YES, Piper Cross or Green Cotton or K&N(expensive compared to other 2)
3) Has the service guys complained about warranty being void whenever you take her for service ?

I have read somewhere here that as a package, installation of after mkt filters, FFE, MSD cables & iridium plugs can produce substantial output than resorting to install only Filters and obtaining marginal difference.

As you have rightly said the AVEO 1.4 has potential, I think its the engine tuning thats the most screwed up part that gives it a sluggish image !!! The last time when I took my car for the 1st assurance checkup at 1000 kms, I checked if the service guy can re-tune to produce more power at lower RPMS, but he stuck onto his usual reply of following company laid down specs.

@the_maassk.
Hyundai markets K&N and they perform installation of K&N at their service centers. I think GM should have some alternative. I will speak to dealer and find out his comments.

@ s3va: what you want totally depends on what you are looking out for.the filter did really improve the pick up.aveos from the company are insanely sluggish! i hated the way it felt.then i started experimenting with it.i think you should get a filter and FFE.plugs and cables dont really make a difference at this level of tuning.also i think you should change the tires. the car used to dance around like it had a mind of its own.im rinning a 195/50 now and it feels much better.
not just hyundais , ive even seen tatas marketing pipercross.
as to which filter is the best i would say they're all the same.im running a K&N.

Agree with wildchild4lyfe. Air intake mod (filter) and FFE would make a substantial difference. Plugs and wires are not worth the cost.

how about exhuast sound variation and FE if you install FFE ? T
hough I love the booming sound of FFE, i would like to avoid it for other reasons ? So is there an FFE that produces stock sound but gives you more power ? .

And I am sure FFE will void the warranty. So we wil have to drive around in the beilef that there wont be any major screw up with the vehicle.

And for your question on suspensions and brakes, I think you might have to dig the answer else where outside this forum. If i havent gone wrong in my observation you are the first AVEO user(besides 'themaask' with his modded UVA) in this forum I have come across who has modded the car beyond the Air filters !!! Beg my pardon if my ignorance has not sighted any other AVEO user who has modded especially with FFEs.

eibachs do make springs for the aveo but they arent available in India.sad.. :( . if you dont want the sound the only alternative is to get a filter with Headers. dont go for the complete set up.it would be marginally louder than your stock.was running that for a while aswell.
Damn i've become the aveo daddy!! hahaha!
