Team-BHP - Most durable wax I have encountered

I picked up the Collinite 915 from Autoshop directly in Bangalore. Nice meeting the owner who is also an car Enthusiast. Had a small chat with him, They started this only 2 weeks ago.

I would ask you buy the 915 over the 476. The 476 is a lot tougher to buff.

I read a lot about Collinite. Finally concluded that the 915 was the best pure wax. This should give a much deeper shine than the 845 and should last longer from what I have read. The 915 has about 24% more carnauba.

I tried this on a small portion of the car and I was blown away by the finish of this wax. It was like looking into a mirror! Even the Factory finish wasn't this good.
This wax smells pleasant too unlike the 845 or the 476.
Pretty easy to rub off.
The 845 is also good but this thing is way better!

I plan to wax the whole car ( black figo ) over the weekend. Will post the results once its complete.

^If the surface after wash is to your satisfaction, then you can go directly to waxing!!

Polish is required only when the surface has a few swirls, defects etc.

If you have clay, then clay the paint before waxing with collinite 845.

Waxing on a clayed(prepped) paint will lead to better durability of the wax!

@Captain Slow - Collinite 915 is more like a beauty wax!

Beauty waxes are usually really easy to apply and remove and do smell nice!
Durability is questionable though! From what I've read, it doesn't last that long!

But then, I'd be more interested to hear your personal views regarding the durability!

476 might seem ideal but I've heard that if you don't apply really-really-really thin coats of it, its really hard to come off!!

Absolutely, but this thing is good! :D And according to Collinite it should last longer than the 845.
The final result that I got from a small patch was very impressive. Like I said earlier it was better than the 845.

The 476 is really hard to work with. I have a tub of this with me too. But yes this thing will last really long.

Also the 915 works better on darker colored cars.

This weekend I will give the figo a good rub down. The only problem for me, pesky neighbours who think that I am some sort of a whack job sitting and polishing my car. I get all kinds of weird looks and questions asking me what am I up to. Even the Security and maintenance people sometimes like to watch me working with the car. Im the only one who does this here :Frustrati

^That is so true regarding getting weird looks!! lol

Whenever I'm waxing, let alone polishing! I used to get looks filled with question marks!!(but now my neighbors kinda understand! :D)

Polishing is a whole different thing!! I never ever polish in front of ppl not knowing what I'm doing!! Trust me, it'll be a nightmare if you're ever machine polishing in your neighborhood!

I'm looking forward to your views on 915! Maybe I'll add it to my 'stuff to buy' list after your review and pics! :D

@ Captain Slow: Thanks for the suggestion regarding the 915. I would be looking forward to the final results and your say on its durability before placing my order.

@ nvc 4125: As Sohail rightly said, you can apply the 845 directly after washing the car if you are satisfied with your car's appearance and want to add a lasting shine to the car's body.
If you want to purchase a good polish look for Sonax auto polish.

Will be interesting to test the durability of the Collinite waxes under the hot Indian conditions, esp. that of 915 since it is a pure 'nuba wax.

The conclusion was 915 outguns 845 and 476 and, in fact, a host of other popular/expensive waxes. And 915 also has been known to produce one of the best water beading and sheeting.

And ah, speaking of neighbors, I had one venture to ask me once condescendingly if I'm too stingy to hire help to wash my car :Frustrati

The 915 is a paste wax, like a soft soap bar but in a tub. I used very little, just rubbed the cloth on wax and then applied it.
