Just get in touch with your local key duplication centre. Usually the key guys will be near or around the number plate guys. Please ask one of them. They are much advanced than the keysmiths of yore. They will be having the shells, blanks, chips, coding machines and sort readily.

Can you please let me know the approximate prices for these?

A quick phone call to some of these range from Rs.1000 to Rs.3000 for the changing the key shell only. Are these prices correct?

Visit and take a look at the quality of the shells. Costs range about the same and depends on what all is replaced. They do give some warranty too.

You can do it yourself. It is a DIY. You ensure you get as near-to-original shell as possible from Aliexpress and do the transplant yourself.

Heck, a new assembly + key cutting + programming will cost you around 3K outside ASS. Just a transplant should not cost you more than 200 bucks.

Search on YouTube for the VW key shell replacement. You will get a ton of videos.

Re: Flippy Keys

Got flip key for our Grand Vitara from MK Marketing, Calicut. Paid Rs 2200 for key duplication and flip key remote.

Re: Flippy Keys

Hi all,
My father owns a 2013 Ertiga ZDI.
Recently one of his OEM car remote key is damaged. The chip is broken, key cover and buttons worn out.
So currently using it as a manual spare key.

Meanwhile,
One of the local shops is suggesting to get a new flip key and the chip programmed, since I was fond of flippy keys.

He is offering to duplicate the blank key, copy immobilizer and remote chip code to new flip key.
Since the code is being copied from main key, he says both the original key and new flip key will work.

Price being quoted is 2,000/-.
And has 8-9 flip key designs to choose from.

So the question is,
Is it safe to get the immobilizer code copied?
Or
Is it better to avoid it and get a new key from service center?

Waiting for your suggestions and inputs.
Thanks,
DLC

Re: Flippy Keys

Reviving this thread. I have a 2016 Scorpio S10.

The latest S11 model comes with a flip key. Does anyone know if it is possible to program this to my non flip key S10?

Re: Flippy Keys

What options do I have in converting the below Key & remote (Nippon, dealer level accessory) to flipkey?
Flippy Keys-1.jpg

2nd option will be this one
Flippy Keys-2.jpg

I bought this unit from Boodmo to check if I could pair it with the existing controller but couldn't succeed. Any pointer?
