Re: ICE/ Accessories : EVO (Ulsoor, Bangalore)

Had recently got the HU of my i20 upgraded to AVH-P3490DVD from AutoShop. Earlier I had also got the JBL components, coaxials, Amp and Sub from them too.

This time around the experience wasn't a pleasant one. First they messed with the connections, and on second visit, didn't know how to tune the whole damn thing and let me go an unhappy customer.

and I poured my woes in the Ask the Guru's section. Navin and DerAlte were patient enough to tell me what all options I could tweak around with/check etc.

Finally I visited Evo this morning and met Satya. A thorough gentleman, despite his busy scheduled (plus a botched up morning - as he got the wrong bunch of keys to his shop) patiently heard me out. Checked the settings thoroughly, set the amp settings right, let me compare it with another sub woofer unit from his shop (He had a new enclosure assembled just for me - Am sure nobody would even think of doing that) And ensured that I had a smile on my face.

Anybody else would've just given me the least importance but He did not do that!

Anybody else would've just asked on of the guys to push the seat back and tweak with the settings and ask me to go, he did not do that. He had the whole passenger seat removed. He sat through the whole process and only when I said I am happy, did he ask his guy to put the seat back.

I regret why did I not visit him earlier! Keep up the good work Satya!!

Re: ICE/ Accessories : EVO (Ulsoor, Bangalore)

Got Vento's HU changed to 4490BT and also got components and co-axials. He doesn't suggest un-necessary accessories and is quite reasonable.
The installation is neat and solid.

I go to Satya for all my car accessory needs. Glad to see he's still keeping up the good work.

Re: ICE/ Accessories : EVO (Ulsoor, Bangalore)

Does EVO deal with branded DRLs and their fitting? I was looking at Philips DRLs (DRL4/DRL8) in particular.

Get the DRL from the distributor of Philips, AK traders on JC road. The prices will definitely be lesser than what any accessory shop will charge since your buying from source and bypassing middle shop.

Fitting is very easy and you can get anyone to do it.

The philips DRL's connect straight to battery with no switch or relay. They have a sensor that turns on and off based on vibration. When you start the car the vibration turns on the DRL. When you switch off the DRL will also turn off after a time out.

Sounds like a good recipe for a saturday DIY job in that case . Thanks a lot for this information. I just checked up on the philips website too - looks like he is listed among their authorised sellers.

Thanks again for this information. I wanted Philips precisely for the reason that there is no wire splicing involved; worth it even if the cost is significantly higher than other local brands.

About the fitting part, just wanted to know about whether it requires complex tools which only EVO/any other accessory shop will have.

I don't think so but cannot confirm since I don't have these DRL's. I'm still on the fence on whether to spend 7K odd on LED's that don't do much except for the cool factor.

I think in a few months time I'll end up buying them though. They look too tempting and logic may go out the window.

Re: ICE/ Accessories : EVO (Ulsoor, Bangalore)

I wanted to install sunfilims on my car at EVO but passed by his workshop in Cambridge layout and found it closed on two occasions in mid - end Jan.
Have they closed down?

No, they have not closed down. Satya was travelling a bit in Jan and hence might have had the shop closed.

I got my Linea ICE done from him

They are usually closed on Sunday afternoons. Did you try at this time?

It was on Saturday morning and another weekday morning. Anyway, I called up Satya yesterday, but he couldn't help me, as he was out of stock.

Why don't you try Sachin's Autoshop @ Koramangala? They do a very neat work. Highly rated on the forum too.

Re: ICE/ Accessories : EVO (Ulsoor, Bangalore)

I got my Music system Installed at EVO, tuning by Satya 1.5 months ago. Their work was good. Only there were few bits of wiring left over, which any way got cleaned as the car was due for service.

Tuning was the best part of install (since my HU has lot of options), I learned quite a bit from Satya too .

I just picked up a pair of DRL 8 from US for just 125 USD (plus a 50 USD mail in rebate) !! The Philips Disti in Bangalore AK Traders quoted 8k for DRL 4 thanks to the rising exchange prices

If you know of anyone traveling you can request them to carry it for you..

Am yet to fix it and hope to get it done soon
