Re: Made a car out of scrap

Tejas, lovely project! I admire your pertinence to get it done, even when your "guides" were asking you to drop the idea. Your efforts can be seen and I am sure, the feeling of driving it is out of the world. Its your baby and you fall in love with it every single day!
I am glad that you are actually completing the project even after your project is over. Most students would leave it at that. Kudos to you.

I am in Pune too, and would love to have a look of the ride.

Tejas, "Scrappy" is awesome. Admire your persistence and passion.

If you are planning to give a demo, please let me too. I would love to take a look and learn from you.

Thank you dude.
You can come over and have a look at my car. It is a good idea to organise a demo and invite all the T-BHP members to have a look at the car. Even I will get to learn a lot, and this will help all my future projects.
How is the idea?

Re: Made a car out of scrap

How much is your project going to cost ? If we as a community chip in with the funds, it would not be much per head, but it'd help you finish your dream project, right ?

I am not so sure if this fund raising kind of thing is permitted on the forum.

Mods please free to delete this post if it is against any rule.

Cheers

Re: Made a car out of scrap

That depends on how refined I make the car. IT wont cost more than 20k if I just want to get the hybrid system started since I already have the necessary components. But if I tune it to perfection, it may require around 50k. I was planning that i keep saving some cash for the project and complete it once I have saved enough.

Re: Made a car out of scrap

I liked the name Scrappy, but it is somehow not suiting the car. I had gone out for a ride yesterday and though she's made out of scrap, she runs great and the engine is smooth. And of course I am gonna work further on her. So then will it be appropriate calling her Scrappy?

By the way, Scrappy also means one who is willing and able to get into a scrap/ fight. I guess this is how Scrappy doo the cartoon is named.
Of course, if you arent happy with the name, we will try to think of some new ones
Are you coming to the dinner tonight? It would be a pleasure to hear some details and meet in person

Re: Made a car out of scrap

That was some inspiring stuff. Good job Tejas. I am impressed with your focus and dedication towards making this car.

BTW, were you driving this "dream" car on Baner Road and then Aundh a few weeks back? I remember a similar looking vehicle which stopped next to me at the Baner signal and was accompanied by a guy on his Bullet (IIRC).

Do join us for tonight's dinner meet with your "Project BHP".

Thanks a lot Ajay.
The guy on Baner road wasn't me. Wish we knew who he was...
