a basic question..

I want to install nautilus in parallel with the stock horns, and for this i need to cut the wires to add the toggle switch.. Now i dont care about the warrantly issue, as it has already expired for my fusion (3+ years)... All i care about is the safety/security of the vehicle and hence its occupants!!

We have heard lots of instances about car burnouts in recent past (have actually seen couple of them in delhi). Does by any case these modification in the wirings leads to any thing dangerous!! ofcource even if done by a very good electrician using quality wires/relays/condensors!!

I would also like to know which kind of wire, relay and condensor will be required to do this job!!

Thanks..

check out the previous posts you should find the answers to most of your questions with pictures!

Sankar says that loud horns will save lives, but Amit tells that his makes people get out of the way.

I don't think that forcing people out of your way is justification for making more noise pollution.

However I find the Swift horn to be particularly puny so I might go for an upgrade myself one day! Of course, if I do, I'll be blasting those autos too, and I just hope I don't make any two-wheelers fall off, as they will definitely be getting full volume.

I also wonder why some Chennai buses have horns that sound more like a squeaking auto is behind you.

If you guys wanna hear truly loud horns. You should hear the horns that GD has installed in his scorpio. Stebels = 5 to 6 horns. man they are ear bursting.

u didnt get my point it seems. i force the idiot drivers out of my way who are going zip zap and causing traffic threats. i dont simply go and honk at people going with discipline. i have the OE horn for such people to request them to let me go ahead. but for crazy drivers my toggle switch is enough.
u may see many drivers driving in between the roads, moving at very slow speeds to save their petrol and not letting us to overtake. also some drivers have ipod earplugs plugged in and they dont bother about people coming from behind. the rickshawalas feel that "roads unke baap ke hai" and they can cut in whenever they want without signalling.

Point taken, and no offence meant.

I guess I was thinking of some of these SUV drivers that tailgate, flashing the lights, being downright rude. I slow down in front of them!

However, in the normal course of driving I believe that, if one wants to go slowly, one should pull over and let others past.

When I get that horn, I think I'll be using it in just the same circumstances as you do :)

It's not only the case with Chennai. Even here in Trivandrum and i suppose even in Bangalore city buses are not allowed to use air horns in city limits. Most private buses don't comply with this rule but government buses do.

It's a weird situation when you look into the rear view mirror to see a puny auto or a car but instead you see a huge scary government transport bus breathing down your neck!

Thanks for that!

At least I now know the reason :)

I heard Fiamm horns are not available in market anymore as the company has been shut down. I had to get horns for my father's mercedes but had to settle for bosch instead.

Allegations... pure allegations without any basis...:Shockked: Let me correct you KD.

The stock horns in my Scorpio are a pair of Boschs, that have remained with me since my Amby days.

I've installed a pair of Stebel Nautilus Brio just behind the grill operated by a separate switch and that's it. These are never used in the city and are purely meant for the highways.

I'm in total agreement with you about the behaviour of these louts on the road.. Sometimes I feel like owning a Vijayant and sneak behind these morons and lift them with the turret and deposit them on the sideways..

Every car needs to have 2 sets of horns. One OE and the other to scare the hell out of people who don't respect the OE horn.:).Will be fitting the Stebel Nautilus next month on my Fiesta.
