STEBEL S.p.a.
I have a pair of roots vibrosonic in my car which was bought way back in 1982. Was used in our fiat and then in the M800 and now in the esteem. Had got them serviced a couple of times in the past.
I got the horns serviced last year and all the contact points were changed. Cost me around 450 bucks. They sounded almost as good as new. Now the sound output is very low.
Does anyone know where in Chennai can I get these serviced? IIRC premier automobiles (Chennai) used to repair / service roots products and were affiliated with the coimbatore based company. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Please see the link below. The 2nd product displayed is what I have in my car.
Root Industries Limited - Products - VIBROSONIC
Alternatively if the repair costs are big, i wouldnt mind getting new horns. Will use them mostly in city and on occassional highway trips. Which ones rule the roost? Do i go for new roots horns? Or Hella Red grills? Or the Stebels? Do these come with warranty (latter 2) and how do i spot the fakes? Ideally i dont want to spend more than 1k. 1200 bucks tops.

The easiest would be to buy it from eBay. I bought mine from there and got it installed outside.
I want to fix 2 sets of horns for my Bolero. One for City use (nothing illegal, nothing to scare others) and the other for Highway use (Loud but nothing illegal).
Any suggestions?

Picked up a brand new set of Roots Vibrosonic twin horns on Saturday. See my earlier post on this page for a pic. The old ones still work well but lack the shrillness.
Cost me 900 bucks with 6 months warranty for the horns and 60 bucks for installation. All the guy had to do was remove the old set from the holder and mount the new ones. Havent used the new horns much except for a few instances and boy it sure does bore a hole in the eardrums of those pesky autodriver's and bikers.

there are more videos check themn as well..
and is there any way we can get a aircompressor instlled in car and its motor working with car battery?
compressors tend to be noisy. You might not need the horn!
Folks,
I have bought the Stebel Magnum TM80/2 high/low paired electromagnetic horns (not air horns) off Ebay and need to get it installed on my Aveo.
I am considering 2 options:
1. Retain my existing OE horns and fit the Stebels independently with a changeover switch on the dash:
Pros: Don't need the louder horn in the city (mostly!) & backup in case of any set conking out on the highway etc.
Cons: Need extra wiring & wary of warranty issues & fitting aftermarket switches on the Aveo dash (looks point of view)
2. Fit in place of the stock horns:
If so, do I need to fit a relay & upgrade the wiring? The Stebel pair consumes 12 amps. Can anyone tell me what the standard horns consume? If more or less the same, can I simply replace with the Stebels safely or should I fit a relay anyway?
Thanks!
Best if you go with option and use the stebels for the 'special' people out there.
EDIT : How much did you pay for them ?
my Fiam horns stopped working this weekend after 1.5 months of use. I was :Shockked:.
I took it to the place where I got the same installed. The person checked out and said the power converter (for higher amperage ) had blown. He took an hour to replace the same (As he had to dismantle the bumper and replace. In Swift D there is no space for horn other than behind the bumper). He didn't charge me any money as it was within 3 months of installation. He also mentioned that this is a 1 in 100 chance that such a problem comes up.
I am now repenting for having installed a horn that needs complicated accessories for installation:Frustrati. If this issue gets repeated in the near future what should be my course of action.
1. Change the dealer and get it rectified.
2. Go for a reliable pair of horns that do not need such conversion (Here I need some suggestions on the model/make).
3. Go for a new set of Maruti approved horn.
Thanks in advance.
