Of course, yes. U should change oil at 1500kms.
What i suggested was to replace it with regular oil that the Authorised service centre guys provide. Dont replace it with Synthetic oil at 1500kms.

In non synthetic land Castrol GTX Diesel meets API-CI specifications, and is the highest grade oil I have seen in the market. You can go for that.
As for the quantity, open the service book, that mentions the quantity.

What Oil are you looking for Synthetic or Mineral..!

Synthetic will cost you closer to 700-800 per Ltr ( Diesel Synthetic is different from Petrol Engine Synthetic)

Mineral will cost around 800 for 3 ltr.

Good makes in both are Mobil 1, Shell ( You won't find it in Delhi), Castrol Magnatec or GTX-D.

For Synthetic- Mobil1 is ruling the roost here.

Personally, I have my Lancer on Mineral Oil for 69000 Km and 6 yrs, No engine problem or issues..! Its just your call depending on budget also.

Ensure you get Regular Oil changes-Thats the Most Important thing.

Mineral actually costs 650-700 Rs for 4 ltrs.
Also the synthetic oil available commonly in diesel range is of lower grade than high end mineral oils like GTX-D (API-CI). Castrol edge which is a very good synthetic oil for petrols meets only API-CF, the bare minimum diesel specification.
So for your diesels, the high end mineral will be better any day.

Hi
I own a Wagon R and I would like to use some synthetic oil. My car requires 20w40 grade engine oil. Is there any synthetic oil with this grade?

Thanks in advance .

Hi

Where can i source this in Pune..

PersonallyI always liked Castrol, but BUBhandari only feeds HP engine oils in the cars in Pune.. that too HP MILCY. Somehow, i dont trust it (IMO) thats why I will provide the workshop with Castrol GTX Diesel API-CI 6.5ltrs on my upcoming service at 10K

Thanks

Which Engine oil for OHC

I donno which oil is used by the manufacturer in my OHC.

The oil level is Low i need to change it.

Should i just add to it or should i go for completely removing the old oil and fill it up with new.

Which mineral oil do u recommend for OHC also a grade if anyone can suggest ( is 20W 40 perfect)

Please recommend Mineral Oil as its not possible for me to go for flushing and then change it to synthetic oil.

If you dont want to go synthetic you can go for any mineral oil which meets the specifications in your service book
For example if your service book says API-SH
You can go for API-SH, API-SJ, API-SL, or API-SM
I think castrol GTX magnetic is API-SM and is perfect your your requirements.

As for flushing its not that big a deal as service centers make it out to be
The procedure is different for different brands but a typical engine flush sequence is as follows
1. Put Engine Flush in existing engine oil
2. Run engine for 20 minutes on idle
3. Drain old oil, change filters
4. Put in new oil.

A typical engine flush costs 250rs.

If your Honda service station has changed the oil, it would be the Honda-branded lube. Best thing to top up would be the same oil itself.

If you are due for a change, synthetic would be best.

Thanks for your quick response on my query.

i tried to enquire coz its no where mentioned on the Honda Manual as to which oil should be used.

they have mentioned " Select proper SAE Viscosity Oil for your car according to the chart "

Category as follows

1) 30
2) 20w - 40 , 20W - 50
3) 15W - 40 , 15W - 50
4) 10W - 40
5) 10W - 30
6) 5W - 30

Thatz what confused me.
If anyone can comment on this.

Actually my car temp is reaching at MAX & i think it might be coz of low Oil level

Most of the SM oils will be 10W40 or 15W40 which meets your requirements.
Do you have the jerry can of the honda oil?
I think its SL or SJ, i,e, a notch below the best standard (SM?) available today.

If you don't want to splurge on synthetics much, castrol EDGE(not EDGE sport) is a cheaper synthetic option. If you car takes 4L of oil you can source it for around 2000rs

Have to visit our factory today and the servicing appointment is after 10 days...

I dont wanna take risk of damaging my cars engine running on low oil.

Dont have Honda Oil tatz the problem.

If im using honda oil can i just top it up with any regular mineral oil temporarly then maybe when it goes for servicing i can get it changed to synthetic oil.

I tried many petrol pumps no one has a castrol or shell oil they have a stock of servo or mak etc... is it ok to top up with these brands for maybe 10-15 days

if i just wanna top up how much oil would i require would a pack of 2 liters be fine.

Any auto spares shop will have castrol(GTX magnetic) or shell helix series.
You can go to a shell petrol pump too
