Manufacturer recommendation is of at servicing 10k kms. Hence the regular mineral oil itself can carry for 10k kms. Hence I have a question whether really synthetic oil needs to be changed at 7.5k kms or it can carry till 20k kms. please clarify

Had done more than 500 kms after switching over to synthetic oil (thanks to this thread). Vehicle has a smoother run upon conversion. Wanted to ensure that iam not clouded due to continious following up of this thread & asked another friend of mine to try it out for a day. He replied back " NO, I DONT FEEL ANY DIFFERENCE BETWEEN TWO".

Even then Iam happy with the results, which is more important.

I dont think anyone sells synthetic oil at the rate of Rs 850 for 4 litres. Guess it should be mineral oil only.

speed if you are worrying about high cost of synthetic, a cheaper alternative for your swift is the Castrol EDGE synthetic oil(2000rs total).
If you don't want to spend much get the GTX magnetic for 700rs. If you bargain you can get it for 650rs too!

No idea friend. But Valvoline is a big company. If its original it will be good. Go for it.
Make sure you get something which is of the highest grade
Petrol grades go like
SF, SG,... SJ SM.
Currently highest I have seen is SM
So get any SM oil and you should be happy.

Yup its original for sure as I contacted the Indian arm of Valvoline i.e. Valvoline Cummins and they gave me the details of the retail distributor.
Sorry in the earlier post I meant the viscosity of the oil i.e. 10W40 etc?

15W40 will be great

I am having an amby with matador engine, it is running on 20w-40(castrol crb+) which exceeds API CF - 4. I was planning to switch over to 15w 40(castrol gtd)spec-API CF-4. But a mechanic told me that i shouldnt do that as that grade of oil is for new generation diesel vehicles.

Castrol rx super max(API CF-4) and rx super plus(API CG-4/CH-4)(mostly recommended for euro iii) can also be considered, both has viscosity of 15w40.

Hoping a recommendation by experts present here.

just changed engine oil in my PALIO 1.2 ELX to CASTROL edge 5W-40 @manipal motors, airport road bangalore. my car had done 4.5K on odo. used Bardhal engine oil flush & ran the engine at idle for 20 mins & then flushed before filling CASTROL EDGE. have run some 200kms since then.. engine runs smoother & has become responsive.. don't feel the guilt when revving the engine..

next time planning to go to motul 8100 excess synthetic oil..
