Read an awesome article on Jalopnik which listed the most useless mods that can be done on a car:

http://thegarage.jalopnik.com/here-a...1448479482546#

A quick sum up:

- Removing the catalytic converter
- Race fuel (Even general high octane fuel for regular cars in India)
- Adjustable lowering springs (have not heard of it here in India
- Ram air intake
- Spark plugs.

Hi, Has anyone used suspension kits from Gecko Racing Taiwan - http://gecko-sport.com/. I need to replace the suspension on my Mercedes W203 and was looking around for kits.

Thanks

Hi there,

I will be completing 5 years of ownership with my A-star this month (on 10th to be precise). I'm thinking of a couple of upgrades to ensure that I don't feel like the car is almost a decade old whenever I'm driving it.

A couple of upgrades which I'm planning are as follows:

I did a bit of googling and did not find information on ECU remap or Tuning box for the K10B series engine.

Need some suggestions/guidance on this front.

A BIG Thanks from me in advance for all the suggestions:thumbs up

PS: Mods kindly move it to a different forum, if it is not relevant here

The best investment that will make you drive your old car more is a better music system + speakers. You will not notice a 10% power hike as much as you will notice a 100% better sound coming out your new speakers.

I am not sure how much the 1.0 litre can be made to do, though.

Go for the ECU remap but make sure you pool up enough cash and splurge on a full exhaust with headers and a high flow intake first. Remapping the car after this, will allow you to exploit more actually noticeable gains from it considering it is an NA engine. An ICE upgrade would also be a good decision buy a 4ch, some decent speakers and a vented or sealed sub along with good wiring and installation (should not cost more than 20k). My advise would be to forget installing any aftermarket chinese keyless entry systems. These gimmicks hardly ever work in the long run and you may regret your purchase within a year or two.

ECU tuning without any change in hardware i.e. the intake and exhaust manifold, forced induction system, engine internals will be useless since an engine acts like an air pump and its capability of taking in more air i.e. the volumetric efficiency is directly related to the power it can produce. So if you really want an increase in power go to a reputed engine tuner who will not fool you by doing random ECU tuning which will not have any substantial power gain and will harm your car’s engine.

If you really want to increase the power of engine and have a budget of more than 2 lac's than I would suggest you to go for turbocharging your engine with new engine internals and a piggy back ECU otherwise be satisfied with the power you have and plan for an upgrade than rather be fooled by a so called “car tuners” who cross the range of safe running parameters like the Air Fuel ratio and the ignition timing which can lead to premature destruction of engine.

For the increase in power, the basic would be a free flow exhaust and performance intake.
The exhaust can be customized as in which RPM range exactly you need the power to be at. If it is initial pick up or if it is mid/top end.

I would suggest ECU remap after this if you still feel the need to. I really don't know if a remap would make that great a difference for a stock naturally aspirated engine.

I suggest you to contact KIIRUS for ECU remap. They have done many ECU remaps on NA petrol engine compared to any other tuner.
Cheers!

I did read about the cosworth and K&N filters in the posts of Mr Sankar in our forums. Will check them out this weekend.

And I have dropped a PM on Facebook to Kiirus. Waiting for their reply.

Thanks for the suggestions.

Can someone please suggest a decent 2 DIN audio unit with pretty decent sound?
I am satisfied with the Stock HU, but need Bluetooth and USB for my requirement.

If all you need is bluetooth and USB, then go for a good single DIN HU like the Blaupunkt Toronto 420BT and spend the rest on a good 4ch amp as it makes a world of difference to your sound quality :thumbs up

can someone suggest if Viezu is a good tuner for remapping vdi. i know we have TOT, wolfmoto, code6 etc but the advantage is Viezu is based out of mumbai/pune making it easier for coordination

Where is the best place / persons in Mumbai to get my 5yr old Ford Fiesta 1.6 SXI modified for extra performance ?
My main worry is on road reliability should not be compromised after all mod cons are completed. Increase in fuel consumption is not an issue.
Thank you.

Hello guys,

Need help! (Bangalore)

I need a performance exhaust/ FFE for my ford fiesta 2008 (petrol) version.
I reached out to Raj (apparently the best at it), but I was told they don't make FFE for fiestas.

Can someone please help me with a few names and places I could get a good FFE done! Thanks :)

Hello All,

Recently got a FFE (performance exhaust) done for my ford fiesta 2008 1.6 petrol, its awesome! Raj Higorani is just what this city (Bangalore) needs when it comes to performance mods..
The SS exhaust and a BMC airfilter and the car feels like a absolute pleasure to drive.. Would highly recommend Mr. Higorani..
