Any idea when they plan to. When I called the local dealers they were clueless
As per RE launch they have introduced the carb 500 first in prime focus markets of Delhi, Punjab and Haryana and later in a phased manner for other markets.

Many thanks Sir, visited RE showroom today and rode the TBTS 500. I must say that this is not like any other RE till date. Amazing characteristics and build quality is what defines this bike. It is both good and bad, since amidst all the refinement the true RE thumps got lost somewhere. Still in two minds whether to book it or the Chrome 500.

Re: Royal Enfield Bullet 500 - NEW model coming. EDIT : Launched @ 1.53 Lakhs

Could some Bullet expert enlighten me the benefit of this 500 cc carburetor bike over the EFI one. Is it easier to service or is it just to provide variety? I have gone through the previous posts without anyone providing a concrete reply to the same.

I can give you a reason to go with EFI instead of Carb.... EFI bullet doesnt knock!

The same question of offering variety or easier servicing also came o my mind but seeing the EFI bullets doing good I believe they just wanted to keep the cost down on a variant of 500 UCE engined bikes and what better way to disguise this with the so called retro theme of the 'Standard' bullet.

Re: Royal Enfield Bullet 500 - NEW model coming. EDIT : Launched @ 1.53 Lakhs

The new Bullet 500 has the desired classic looks and is quite reasonably priced at Rs 1.53 L for all it offers.

However, he company needs to do a better job on the red rear back light that looks awfully small for a bike of this size. The circular shape can be retained but can be doubled in diameter, for better looks and also practicality.

Even the front parking lights above the headlight, need to be increased in diameter.

After all, traffic is not of the mid-1950's and in today's chaotic conditions, better visibility for the machine one rides needs a thought.

Advantage EFI
1) Doesnt knock, coz ECU will take care of most of the low revs in high gear senarios
2) EFI bikes are more consistent in their power delivery. Hassles of tuning the carb not there
3) Mantainance wise EFI is less hands on than carb bike
4) Milage slightly better than carb
5) Power higher than carb

Advantage carb
1) Can be adjusted by hand without any ECU jugglery
2) Can be tuned more easily for performance gains (I think this is the biggest advantage over an EFI)

I like the looks of this. Would have prefered an option of EFI, and a gold trim on the Black version. Let me wait and see if they offer a EFI option.

Re: Royal Enfield Bullet 500 - NEW model coming. EDIT : Launched @ 1.53 Lakhs

Must say, a lot of thought has gone into designing the back, they have tried to stay as close as possible to the roots and still make the bike as practical as possible. The 500cc engine looks more substantial than the 350cc and does justice to the chassis. Only the silence looks too long, the upswept exhaust of the Classic without being upswept would have done the trick, otherwise, a pretty good bike this one. Also love the rear grab handle, and the subtle rubberised back-rest

Re: Royal Enfield Bullet 500 - NEW model coming. EDIT : Launched @ 1.53 Lakhs

Got my Forest green 500 Std on last Thursday and really impressed with the power/ torque characteristic ( over 350). May be the first one delivered in Trivandrum.

All the excitement vanished next day morning as the bullet didn't start. It was starting with the choke and the moment choke is released, engine went off.

It was observed that inside of fuel tank is also painted with the same green colour, and started peeling off; this might have blocked fuel line/ carburetor.

Went to service centre to clean tank and carburetor and raised warranty claim for new tank. For the time being running on the faulty tank; please see the attached picture of fuel tank.

The showroom claims the two bullet 500s they have have similar fuel tank.

Hearty Congratulations on the Green Bull and perhaps the first on this forum

At the same time sorry to know that you had an issue on day 1 .

Hope you get all the issues sorted out and come out with a beautiful ride experience on your bull and share it with all of us soon. Waiting to catch some more glimpses of the green bull !!

What is the sense of painting insides of a tank? Why would anyone do that?

This looks like a lapse by RE while painting the tank outer surface. They must not have plugged the opening so as a result of which the paint sprayed onto the tank must have entered into the opening.
I saw some pictures on the internet where the tanks for DSs were being painted by robots, they definitely would not know whether the tank is plugged or not.

On a different note, my friend had a similar problem on his teal coloured C500 where the paint started puffing up and cracking near the rim. He said it was because of the additives in the premium fuel he filled once. But RE service had agreed o replace the tank which he hasn't done yet because of a tight schedule.

IIRC the insides of my TBTS fuel tank looks like an orange paint which taxi Ambassadors in WB have applied on the under body.

Weren't the 500 tanks painted and pinstripped by hand? Do they have robots in the RE factory at Thiruvottiyur?
