The chewing gum guy and his attitude is a complete turn-off.
The whole event lacked enthusiasm/professionalism. Everyone seems to be disoriented. I was really looking forward to this launch. I am disappointed.

Hope the bikes are good. Do they have any plans to bring the Yezdis back?? I feel they should have zeroed in on the Yezdis , more than the Jawas. Something on the lines of the Roadking or the CL II would have been more appealing.

All said and done, I am happy to see the Jawa brand and a proper twin from the RE stable...Good days ahead indeed..

Do you know if those bar end mirrors are a standard factory fitment on the 42? Or is that merely an accessory?

do away with the kick lever

I couldn't agree more on this. My Avenger 200 came without a kick lever and that has always been a point of worry for me. Especially when I'm returning from a long vacation or haven't touched the bike for a long time due to any other commitments.

And these new age rides are a bit reluctant to the traditional push-start either. I could never get my bike start by pushing it and slotting it into the first or second gear. It was so easy to get the engine back to life like that on an RX100.

the bike looks good and can be a good alternative to loads of RE350 on the roads, should be able to let you stand out from the hordes of same looking bikes. If i was in the market for a single cylinder 350cc bike, i will give this one a serious thought.

While the presentation lacked the dazzle, the story behind the rebirth of Jawa seemed pretty interesting for me and the bikes themselves were not a let down at all. The price as well, IMO is quite good. Not too high to get the "Over-priced" tag, yet costly enough to build a "premium" brand. Even if you subtract the original Jawa, the new bike is quite the looker on its own. From the pictures that have surfaced, it seems well made too, but quality can only be ascertained once the bikes hit the road. These bikes were never made to compete with the 650 twins so I dont know why are people comparing the two These bikes are aimed squarely at the 350cc enfields, and I dont see anything to compel me to go with the RE over the Jawas (If I was in the market for these motorcycles)

Ideally you should disconnect your battery before leaving your motorcyle unattended for a long duration, I think all owner manuals have a seperate section called "Long term storage" that deals with exactly this situation.

The low seat height is quite a boon in the Indian scenario, many people, especially the females will find it quite the welcome feature.

Im really looking forward to how the motorcycles behave on the road, and over time. Showroom/Service experience is yet to be seen and would matter a lot for the new Jawa.

So true, was watching the web cast just to see the bikes and their pricing strategy but was seriously distracted with the attitude of the people on dias except Mr Mahindra. I dont know why, but I have a "gut" feeling in me that the brand is not going to enjoy that old charm again, and this is just because of the people on the top brass of the firm. I feel that there would be a shake up in the top level immediately due do drop off.

Bikes look great, specially the 'Perak'. Great days for motoring in India.

When I was looking at bikes, I tested the Mojo, dominar and the FZ25. Out of all 3, the Mojo impressed me most with the engine. If the Jawa has the same smoothness in the engine, I would love to try it and replace my FZ25 which I bought

Here are some more photos. Must say they are quite the looker. Had this been a 500+ twin engine, the RE Twins would have had serious competition.

Jawa ad -

They seriously need to bring more excitement into their presentations.

Jawa Twitter handle seems to proclaim that the bookings are on hold due to "unexpected" traffic to their website. I am not sure about the numbers behind which they are talking about or this may be just a gimmick.

The way they are finished is far ahead of RE. Looks beautiful. I intend to buy one after few months :) They should have brought out the Perak with higher displacement around 500cc with a twin possibly. The engine area could use something bigger and packed. I just hope the plastic (?) around the tool box area is of good quality. Bike looks like something you could be forced to keep clean. Really like it.

I quiet understand that RE 650 pricing was too good to be true, but lets not forget that Jawa is a good two segments and 1L below the 650! Compared to the classic 350, this certainly looks to be better in few areas like power and gearbox, once reviews are out we will know where it stands.

I personally think its so retro that, someone might actually think its an old bike if I have it parked in my garage lol: certainly a good thing for many, but not a good thing for people who buy bikes to inflate their ego, they make up a good share of premium buyers.

I love the new jawa.

They’ve done an awesome job in replicating the lovely lines of the old model.

Meanwhile Royal Enfield has turned into an unscrupulous company.... the limited series fiasco turned me away from them.
Not to mention the sub standard pieces of junk they’ve been selling us in the name of nostalgia.

The new Jawa is a much better looking machine..... and better sounding too.

Will definitely pick one !!

Bad launch aside, I feel the Jawa 300 is a looker. Looks even better than the Interceptor 650. Worthy alternative to the big-selling Classic 350.:thumbs up

If the production version of the Jawa bobber is going to be the same as the launch version then I might as well start saving for this. The Jawa Perak is a real classic beauty and hope it is well built.
