The spy pics captured so far of the test mules seem to suggest otherwise. I reckon the re-routed exhaust will first debut on the 2020 Duke 390 & later, percolate to other family members.

re: KTM 390 Adventure India launch confirmed. Edit: Launched at 2.99 lakh.

I am getting one when I am settling down in India by 2021. By that time KTM will be able to clear out all the niggles identified in initial batches.

I will not be able to ride a Vstrom/Versys to my work on daily basis even though I can afford to own one. Happy days for us customers and trouble starts for BMW GS310 which is already getting huge discounts.

This is precisely the problem many of us who have owned a 650 class bike feel. Too heavy, too much fairing, and too high a maintenance factor for a bike that gets to be used on the odd weekends out, or a bi-yearly long trip affair.

Bangalore traffic doesn't seem to be easing one bit, the roads are getting progressively Martian, and the less bling you bring on the roads, the better it is for you.

re: KTM 390 Adventure India launch confirmed. Edit: Launched at 2.99 lakh.

There's a new spyshot of the 390 Adventure online now, this time being clicked during a night test with some luggage fitted. Seems like there is ample space for the pillion, despite the rider being generously proportioned!

I am in a serious dilemma now, do I go ahead with my CB300R booking or wait for the 'Adventure' to begin?

I'm curious if they have expanded fuel tank capacity with the help of those side panels like it is done on the 790 Adventure. The crash guards being stock may point in that direction, but the panels by themselves don't look meaty.

Long distance touring & off-roading - KTM 390 Adv or BMW 310GS.

City riding & weekend dhaba taxi - CB300R or Duke 390 or BMW G 310R

re: KTM 390 Adventure India launch confirmed. Edit: Launched at 2.99 lakh.

The changes look quite extensive from the older 390s:

a)New Exhaust routing and frame ??
b)New fairing at the front, sides and in pillion area
c)New seats
d)Bigger front wheel with new suspension??
e)OEM Crash bars
f)Maybe larger tank, that hump looks very different
g)Taller front for raised handlebars

The 310GS adds 10 kilos for just a bigger wheel, suspension and fairing. All this will result in significant bulk increase over the duke. I don't think they can keep it below Dominar weight for a good adventure/city experience.

Touring wise this might work out better with the relaxed seating and heavier bike.

And for those worried about exclusivity, please be prepared for the affordable KTM Adventure 125 launching in 2022, once they've milked the first wave.

Yes, they are OE accessories. And they are all semi hard luggage! In between soft bags and aluminum.

Good eyes! I think so too. Else why camo that bit? Very interesting!

Actually now, it makes sense to get the 390@ and supplement with an xpulse for city duty! Both will cost next to nothing to manage!

Your point about the weight is quite accurate IMO. If one were to look at a road vs ADV offering from Katoom:

- Duke 790 vs ADV 790 : 169 vs 189 kg (Dry) = ~12% increase in weight

Going by the same logic; we can easily expect a 10% increment in weight over the roadster. Duke 390 has been on the couch too long, eating potato chips and now weighs 163 kilos (Kerb)

Just FYI - First gen weighed around 150 with fluids and a full tank IIRC

So with a 10% increase in weight at the very least, it will easily be nudging 180 kilos (most optimistic) and would probably even go well past it. That's Himalayan territory. More power... sure, but Himalayan territory weight wise. And we haven't included panniers or any other luggage options that the bike might come with

I hope the suspension and wheel set up has been reconsidered. From the pic it looks like this could well be spoked wheels I will happily forget about the weight if the wheel and suspension aspects are covered

The weight discussion is often ignored. I prefer lighter and nimble bikes for my limited offroading adventures. Going by the weight numbers you shared, I (not suggesting that this would apply for everyone!) would be more keen on a 250 adventure from KTM with say a 160 kg weight.

Just 9 kilos lighter than the 790 ADV? Nah man, that is just not KTM.

I think this bike will be in the 175 kg range. That is 163 kgs + an additional 5-6 litres of fuel (add 6 kgs) = 169 + 6kgs for the other knick knacks. Wheels should roughly weigh the same and I think what you're seeing are alloys. Look at the rims. Those 6kgs should be evenly distributed across a beefier suspension and ofcourse the bigger end can. That bazooka end can alone should be 3kgs.

re: KTM 390 Adventure India launch confirmed. Edit: Launched at 2.99 lakh.

KTM to launch Adventure 390 at India Bike Week which will be held in December 2019.
Quote:
We expect the 390 Adventure to cost somewhere around the Rs 3 lakh mark, which means it would still cost significantly less than its nearest rival – the BMW G 310 GS (Rs 3.49 lakh). This KTM is also likely to be the company’s first BS6/Euro 5 model. While a lot about the motorcycle still remains to be discovered, we now have a date to look forward to. We also expect to see the 390-based Husqvarna Svartpilen 401 and Vitpilen 401 at the motorcycle event in Goa.

Here’s me getting a bit “adventurous” with my modified Duke 390:

Listen to the suspension getting hammered. Ktm better get this aspect of the 390 ADV dialled. Else... what’s the point TBH

re: KTM 390 Adventure India launch confirmed. Edit: Launched at 2.99 lakh.

I hear from a reliable birdie that the bookings for the Adventure 390 will start in January 2020 and deliveries will start by February.

The rumoured Adventure 250 should be just about perfect for someone like me.
