The vibes go away after the 120 km/hr mark, which is a bit surprising.
Thanks for the great review FURY bro.
Is the issue faced only by you or the co-owners as well?
I am asking this because I also faced this issue of vibrations on my RTR 160 while driving in the range of 80-100 kmph and vanishes once I cross the 100 mark. Here I could just see a shift of range of speed.
I have discussed with TVS technician but he could not help me with a solution.
This is something TVS should be seriously looked into.

Thank you BANDHAV, the bike is a beauty especially in full black. The red one looks like a mini Ducati on road and we ourselves have confused it with a Panigale by looking at the headlight from a distance, while waiting for riders to join during a group ride Such is the resemblance of this bike.

If I were in market for this the only thing holding me back would be the RE Interceptor, that additional cylinder at a marginal incremental cost is just too hard to ignore.
RE has made life really hard for the bikes in price range between 2-3L, both the twins are VFM products. It gets really confusing when you bring a sports tourer into the picture. I would suggest you to rent out both the products for a long ride and test it out yourselves. If I were in your shoes I would pick the RR over the RE twins just for the new technology it brings to the table.

Thank you coolmind, the issue is generally faced by most of the owners and the vibrations are not at alarming levels. It is just a mild buzz you feel on the handle bar, seat and foot pegs from 100 - 120km/hr. I have eventually gotten used to the vibrations.

Congratulations on your new bike. Its a good thing that you have planned to shift to using synthetic oil on your bike. I would suggest you to source the oil, oil filter and chain sprays online and get them done at a road side mechanic. It will be cheaper and safer too. I have experienced too much pilfering and improper oil changes at the Authorized service centers of all the brands I have purchased from.

Thank you for the wishes COMMUTER, TVS has only recommended the mineral oil from Motul which is available at the SVC. Due to this being the warranty period, no other oil can be changed from an outside mechanic shop. TVS has now released a Tru4 FS oil, especially manufactured for the RR310, which is not yet available at the SVC. The FS Tru4 oil from TVS comes as default in the 2019 Mfr bikes according to the information I have received.

re: Fury in all its glory | My TVS Apache RR310 Ownership Review | EDIT: 6 years and 43,500 kms up!

So the first of the ECU update is here, to clear the bugs/errors present in the system. I had got it done yesterday at Prakruthi TVS, it only took 5 mins to get the system connected and the file to be transferred.

Attaching a couple of pics.

It seems to be a performance update, I am yet to test it and I will most probably do a breakfast ride in the coming weeks and check the difference.

Remember earlier in my review, I had mentioned about paint chipping on my right side fairing.

Found these while cleaning my bike.

Fury in all its glory | My TVS Apache RR310 Ownership Review | EDIT: 6 years and 43,500 kms up!-img_20190210_171046.jpg

I had sent the images to TVS and also updated the issue to the SVC, after examining the fairing and the side cowl, it was concluded that this was a genuine issue of paint chipping and it was decided to replace the parts under warranty.

At the SVC, after removing the parts.

Side Cowl

Right Fairing

I have not heard of anyone reporting paint chipping before in the Bangalore owners group, this might be a first. But hey, it's a first lot vehicle.

re: Fury in all its glory | My TVS Apache RR310 Ownership Review | EDIT: 6 years and 43,500 kms up!

February 2019 - The 1st year anniversary ride

"Thou shall not stay home on the bikes anniversary weekend"

Trip requirements: Curvy roads + 1000 km on odo.
Where: Western Ghats for the curves and Murudeshwara for a destination.
When: Feb 2nd - 3rd

With the destination being decided, now comes the planning of the route. Since we wanted to enjoy the curves, almost 60% of our route was through the western ghats.

The Route

Fury in all its glory | My TVS Apache RR310 Ownership Review | EDIT: 6 years and 43,500 kms up!-img20190130wa0004.jpg

Day 1: Bangalore - Hassan - Kottigehara - Sringeri - Agumbe - Kundapura - Baindur
Distance: 498 kms

This was planned as a group trip, so a total of 11 Apache RR310's and a Benelli 300 joined us. We planned to start at around 4 AM in the morning from the Tumkur road NICE junction, since we had a lot to cover and as per schedule we needed to reach for lunch at Baindur.

It was all dark at 4 AM, we couldn't click any pics and we started as per schedule with much excitement.

Numerous photos to follow

The weather was very cold, and we were freezing just after we took the left from Nelamangala. With no hotels open, we continued our freezing journey up until Hassan, our first pit stop.

Fury in all its glory | My TVS Apache RR310 Ownership Review | EDIT: 6 years and 43,500 kms up!-img_0964.jpg

We have sunrise

Fury in all its glory | My TVS Apache RR310 Ownership Review | EDIT: 6 years and 43,500 kms up!-20190202_070826.jpg

We entered the city looking for breakfast, but to our dismay we couldn't find a decent hotel open at 7 AM in the morning. Since we anyway entered the city, we just re fueled our bikes and continued towards Shakleshpur with a moaning sound from the stomach. hehe

The conditions suddenly changed, with a lot of deforestation happening to widen the roads, it was not we were expecting to see in 1st daylight. Just before entering Shakleshpur we found a decent hotel, where we hogged on some fresh Idly's, Vada's and Dosa's finishing with a hot cup of coffee. The Relief !!!!

Nature at its best

Fury in all its glory | My TVS Apache RR310 Ownership Review | EDIT: 6 years and 43,500 kms up!-img_20190202_122105.jpg

This was the final pic taken before we started to en counter some really good curves of the western ghats, we were all drooling for this moment. The suspension set up on the Apache RR310 gives you so much more confidence in pushing the bike into the corners, with little to no traffic on these roads, we were pushing the bikes as each corner went by.

As much as we were enjoying the corners, staying away from the highway sunlight, we soon realised that there were literally no rest stops on the route we chose, no hotels, no bakeries, nothing. Hey, after all we just wanted the curves right.

We maintained a lead and a sweep so that no one gets missed in these confusing roads, but it didn't pan out as expected. With the group consisting of not so experienced riders on curves, they fell back as the lead group were just pushing ahead. We had to wait at every major diversion by 10-15 mins for others to catch up & regroup. Hunger & waiting doesn't really go well with each other as we all know.

Hours went by without much refreshments, emptying all the water bottles we had packed in our backpacks. It was lunch time when we crossed the Agumbe Ghat, with a couple of snake and deer sightings. Snake?? Yes, we didn't care much. We just proceeded to our destination, since we were all loosing our patience & hungry. Ufff!!! So much for them curves.

Couple of hours later

The time was approximately 3:30 PM, when we finally reached the coastal road of the Maravanthe beach. And what a relief that was, the sight of the mighty Arabian sea. since we knew once we hit the highway we can cover distance a lot faster. Food was closer.

The relieved/stressed/unpatient faces. God !!!!

Fury in all its glory | My TVS Apache RR310 Ownership Review | EDIT: 6 years and 43,500 kms up!-img_1007.jpg

At around 4:30 PM, we reached our hotel in Byndoor, much later than we expected.

The Stay: Kshitija Nesara Dhama, Byndoor
Food: 5/5 Must try Bhangda fish fry & Onion Pakoda
Rooms: 5/5
Price: It came down to 500/- per head for 13 members.

This is a govt operated stay, with plenty of parking place, lush green trees, a view of the beach, very good for families and biking groups. I would suggest to order food here itself as there is no other place in close vicinity. Standard veg and non veg meal is provided, you can customize the food choice. Whatever you need, they get it. But make sure you inform them in advance, the food preparation takes time. (We didn't inform them in advance, you know what i mean right, haha)

By beach view I meant this, WHAT A SIGHT !!!! after riding for 12hrs

We had planned to visit the Murudeshwara temple on the same day itself, for darshan and sunset. Since darshan on a Sunday would be time consuming and it would also delay our departure to Bangalore. After hogging into 6 plates of onion pakoda, everyone hit the sack to stretch out a bit and eventually the idea to visit the temple got dropped.

Day 1 ended with star gazing, some chilled beers and of course them very close brotherhood talks. What a life !!!

With the ocean roar whispering in our ears and not sure what Day 2 is going to offer us, we tried to get some sleep.

Day well spent

Day 2: Byndoor - Murudeshwara - Sagar - Shivamogga - Chitradurga - Bangalore
Distance: 536 kms

Birds chipping, fresh clean air, the view of the ocean and a hot cup of coffee. We don't get these in Bangalore.

After some early morning photo sessions, we got ready, had breakfast and headed towards Murudeshwara temple for darshan. It is 35 kms from the stay at Byndoor, it took us 20-30 mins. Parking at the temple is spacious, but one needs to be very careful since the place is crowded and some might start misbehaving with your bike.

How did they even build this??. This was my 1st time to Murudeshwara and I was awestruck how tall this was.

After darshan we took the lift which takes us to the top of the tower, it's 10 or 20 Rs per person to travel in the lift. One can stay as long as you want at the top, no pushes or no hurries which was the best part.

Hmm let's see if we can fit the tower in the frame. Yes, we can.

We head back to our stay at Byndoor, pack our bags, settle our food bills. Food bill came down to 700/- per head for dinner, breakfast and lunch. So totally it was 1100/- per head for food and stay at Kshitija Nesara Dhama. Totally worth the bucks.

One last view of this place, feels bad when you are heading back to the corporate life.

As per schedule we needed to start at 11 AM from Byndoor, but due to the darshan being pushed to Sunday, we started at around 1:30 PM in scorching heat towards Bangalore, and our first stop was Sagara which is around 100 kms. A co rider's house for lunch, which turned into a evening dinner at 4 PM.

Delicious non veg meals

Fury in all its glory | My TVS Apache RR310 Ownership Review | EDIT: 6 years and 43,500 kms up!-20190203_174446.jpg

We leave Sagara at 6 PM, with route planned via Shivamogga, Chitradurga and then a straight 6 lane highway all the way till Bangalore. Regrouped at Shivamogga city at exactly 10 PM and proceeded towards home. Had a small tea break somewhere between Shivamogga and Chitradurga, since we were all full with the early dinner, we skipped stopping for dinner again.

Shivamogga to Bangalore took close to 6 hrs and I was home at around 4 AM, with a wide grin on my face and not caring if it's Monday already.

Final Stats- A healthy mileage of 35kmpl

March 2019 - Madurai & Dhanushkodi

In search of another 1000kms on odo, it was decided that we visit the famous Madurai Meenakshi Amman Temple and also the much hyped Dhanushkodi, both destinations being the 1st time for me.

Dates: March 16th & 17th

Madurai Stay: Hotel Tamilnadu (We just booked this hotel for half a day, so that we could finish darshan and head towards Rameswaram)
Likes: Super cheap, very close to the temple, ample parking space for cars and bikes and delicious south indian meals.

Rameswaram Stay: Hotel KNP Nest
Likes: It is a newly built hotel with affordable AC rooms, located in a peaceful alley, very neatly maintained, open parking space, but no attached restaurant.

Fuel: 3000/-
Food & Stay: 2000/-

Pamban Bridge

Great that you are munching miles. Was the parts with the poor paint quality replaced under warranty ? And if yes, have you noticed the same happening again ?

I was also thinking of riding down to Dhanushkodi from Bangalore. Do you think Madurai-Dhanushkodi and back to Madurai is achievable in a single day, considering I leave Madurai by 4 in the morning ?

Thank you Xaos636, Madurai to Rameswaram is close to 3hrs ride and from there Dhanushkodi takes around 20-30 mins.

If you are leaving Madurai at 4 AM, you are definitely missing the sunrise, which is like the 1st thing to do at Dhanushkodi. After that there's not much to see there, provided there are some local shacks which dish out local cuisines and also the heat starts to become unbearable.

We left Madurai by 2 PM after the darshan, reached Pamban Bridge at 6:15 PM, got a glimpse of the train passing, stayed overnight and proceeded towards Dhanushkodi in the morning for the sunrise.

re: Fury in all its glory | My TVS Apache RR310 Ownership Review | EDIT: 6 years and 43,500 kms up!

With a very harsh summer in May, FURY was mostly untouched for the whole of May except for one weekend where we had visited Kodaikanal. The riding itch will eventually gain the upper hand.

Summer ride to Kodaikanal

Dates: May 11 - 12
Stay: Hillock Holdiays, Kodaikanal

The ride en route as expected was very hot, humid and exhaustive. We couldn't click much pics on the way to the location as we had a lot of ground to cover before it gets too hot.

The Stay

Fast forward to June 23rd Bengaluru, the Apache RR310 owners group participated in the "World Motorcycle Day" event which was conducted at Dharamshi Resorts, Nelamangala.

In the meantime reached the 15,000 kms milestone on a ride to Hassan for lunch after the event. Too many alternator/coil failures reported around this km mark, hopefully I am able to bypass it. Fingers crossed

Around 30 riders from Bangalore RR310 owners group registered for this event and a couple of them even bought their wives/friends along as a pillion. Organizing the ride to Ooty from Bangalore with 30+ riders was a daunting task in itself since some wanted to ride via Bandipur & some via Coimbatore. So eventually split up to two groups. 20 riders will be reaching Ooty via Bandipur and the other 10 would ride via Avinashi, Mettupalayam. I chose to ride via Avinashi. The lesser the better.

Day 1: Ride to Ooty & Stay at Aventura Fern Hill

We started the ride from E City toll at around 2:30 AM since we had a lot of ground to cover compared to our Bandipur counterparts. It started drizzling at Shoolagiri and continued all the way till Dharmapuri. We were all prepared for this since the forecast was heavy rain all through the weekend. I was absolutely loving the ride in the night, at the same time very cautious. No photos for obvious reasons, it was dark and raining.

After refueling at Salem city, we took the right towards CBE. Even though the route was not picturesque, we had no trouble in munching miles. The Avinashi road towards Mettupalayam quickly came up and we were at the foothills of Ooty in no time. It started raining again and we were in our rain jackets and pants in a jiffy. Refueled one last time and we were all set towards Ooty.

After a couple of hair pin bends the clouds started to open up, the weather was cool as nice and we simply couldn't resist stopping for a photoshoot. And voila our 1st pictures of the day after covering almost 300+ kms. You couldn't have asked for better weather to visit Ooty.

Moving on, we reached Aventura Fern Hill at 11 AM. We were the 1st ones to reach and the set up was still in progress. We were asked to fill out indemnity forms and tents were allotted on a first come first serve basis. And yes, we chose the best in the house. Mission accomplished, bwahahah !!!

Some photos at Aventura

Since we were the only ones to arrive, we had nothing else to do but to wait for the others. Lunch was provided, chicken and veg biryanis for all. We strolled around the property to explore nearby places by foot.

After a good 10 mins walk, we stumbled upon these tracks. We discussed among yourselves that we should be damn lucky to spot a toy train.

The event was open for all Apache owners (any category). A total of 100 owners were expected to join the event from places all over South India. The 310's trumped the event with groups from Kerala & Tamil Nadu adding to our tally of 30. People were coming in as the evening went by and the check-in process was smoothly organized by the TVS team.

Games & activities were planned with a DJ night for Day 1, I engaged in some tug of war competition with other riders.

The ride to Avalanche lake was flagged off at 7:30 AM with the majority of riders participating, we stayed back since we wanted some time for ourselves. There were 4 to 5 portable bathrooms for approximately 10 - 15 tents, with many of them gone we did the necessaries peacefully. Each bathroom was fitted with a small water heater so no cold water baths. (Thankfully)

To be frank food served on all the 3 days were of good quality & taste. We were not expecting that to be quite honest, kudos to TVS for that. Breakfast was served.

With the TVS management joining the Avalanche lake ride, there was no activities planned until they return. So we decided to have some fun at the campsite. Cricket for starters (& it ended abruptly due to a broken bat), volleyball, UNO and some decided to test their skills at carrom.

Pictures as follows

A couple of hours later the team returned from Avalanche lake and they started planning the events for the day. Whoever was interested in taking part could give their names before the start of the event.

Obstacle Race

They had built an artificial course at the base of the campsite for this race, with obstacles being wooden logs, tyres and barrels. There was pin drop silence among the crowd (for obvious reasons, one crash & u don't have a bike to ride back home LOL) when they had called up for nominations. Since no one wanted to risk it, TVS stunt riders gave us a terrific show. I only could get a couple of pictures, since we were busy cheering the guys.

Slow Race

A skill test to the riders. Whoever crosses the finish line last without using any external help were declared winners. There were close to 20 participants, 5 rounds were conducted and winners of each of those rounds qualified for the final round where they raced for the top 3 positions.

Hill Climb Race

A 40° 500m gradient from the start to the end of the campsite. This race was challenging since it was all slippery and slushy due to the continuous rains even before we arrived. But that didn't stop the brave hearts from participating. The pictures don't do justice to the steep, trust me it was really steep. We could really differentiate between classes due to the lap times they sent, RR310 was the quickest with a time of 11 seconds flat to cover the distance. The top 3 quickest time took the podium.

Dirt Race

This was the final leg of events, which was a bigger track than the obstacle race course. Mud, Slush and add in a couple of hair pin bends we have a recipe for some hard falls. As expected everyone washed their hands off of this race except for 2 riders who tried the track and surprisingly both of them had immense control over their machines even on a slippery track like this. Hats off to them boys.

Every race was conducted keeping safety has the number one priority, as you can see in the pictures above everyone are in their full riding gears. No corners were cut just because this was something not official. The riders were not allowed to participate for the event if they did not have the necessary safety gear on.

After the events, one brilliant mind suggested we ride to Avalanche & so we did since did not take our bikes out for more than a day. (Itch I say) But on the way we were informed by locals that the entry to the lake was closed for the day & there were cops who wouldn't let anyone then.

We found this little roadside hump en route to the lake, so we decided to take a group picture for memories.
