why don't they keep it 2 stroke, there are many cleaner 2 stroke engines available around the world with few bike companies.

^^ 2 stroke manufacturing was stopped in India from the year 2000. For some emission norms.

Except TVS all others stopped 2strokes in India. The only running production 2stokes in India are the TVS Super XL and Scooty. I guess Bajaj stopped producing 2stroke auto rickshaws.

You might be referring to the Old Scooty & Scooty ES. Scooty Pep onwards it is a four stroke IIRC.

Note from Mod : Please avoid SMS / short form words, dots (like.....this......) and use capitalisation where appropriate. It'll make your posts that much more readable to others

it wont happen..n why shud they?the YBX is a 4stroker with many similarities to the RX.. id be happy if they atleast brought spares for the RX series in the market.. if anyone remembers, escorts had attempted a fourstroker based on the RX chasis and even the RX engine bottom in the 90's .. it was called HN100.. real shitty looking bike.. glad it didnt make into production..

I'm not sure what exactly they mean??

The FZ16 IS the modern incarnation of the RX100 and carries the same spirit as the original.

I think it would have been a better idea if Yamaha would have thought of reincarnating RD350. May be resurrect both bikes (RX100 and RD 350).

RD350, AVATAR seems to be a better bet, a 4 stroke RX-100 would need some major tech evolution to match the sound and performance of the earlier RX-100.

Lets remember the RX-135 and the RXZ both variants of the RS-100 flopped miserably.

have owned an RX for around 4 years. if you compare with modern bikes, the RX really cant hold a candle in terms of comfort. also refinement at higher speeds is anybody's guess

for all the attributes for which it was a legend, the same may not be really relevant now. the goal posts have moved on. so lets not do injustice to the legend in the name of resurrection

but the FZ16 could do with a more aggressive motor to be even closer in spirit to the RX. I havent ridden an FZ yet, but every single FZ rider seems to be reveling on their steeds, very very reminiscent of the RX.

I personally like brute sound (stock) of the old gen Rx100. This cannot be expected out of a 4stroke engine.
I believe it would sound like a Yamaha Crux.

Yamaha re-launching RX100 sounds good. Being owned a RX for the last 23 years, I would say that unless it sounds, moves like a 2 stroke RX , just looks will not bring back the old customers to the showroom. If Yamaha can bring in fuel injection on 2strokes to keep pollution as per norms it will be history. If they can’t then they should bring in the SR400 which looks like a big RX, royal classic looks which can even get some of the loyal RE customers as well.

Either case bring back the classics, we love them

Not very exciting news. I would have been appriciate if Yamaha announced a new, more powerful, more refined 250/350 cc bike in India, rather than thinking about launcing an age old model with a 4-stroke engine. RX 100 days are gone by, it's a history now, don't repeat HM Ambassador story - putting an Isuzu engine under the bonnet of a 1954 Oxford Morris... Like Rahul Bajaj said Yamaha should stress upon magic of logic rather than emotions and give us something more meaningful and contemporary.

they can still get the two strokes which can rival the 4 strokes on the emission norms while still giving the same power which the earlier two strokes gave.

Two strokes can be made to run a lot cleaner with gasoline direct injection(GDI) , you can read more about it here on wikipedia http://http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gasoline_direct_injection

the technology is already being used by bajaj on their newer rickshaws. Yamaha only needs to try harder. hope they get something like this on their RD350 and RXs
