If you cant wait for 10 months just look around for a sparingly used C5. Some of them are available @ TBhp classifieds itself.

+1. This actually makes a lot of sense. Buy it from someone you know, or someone who lets you spend time with the bike before deciding. Nothing beats a well run-in bullet!

Re: Royal Enfield 500 Classic 4100 km Ownership Review

Today morning I kept the ES button pressed for about 5-7 seconds and then the bike just kept cranking. I switched off the ignition switch and removed the key and it still kept on making the cranking sound (like it's trying to start). Terrified the **** out of me because it just wouldn't stop for about 2 mins. Then it just shut off. I could still kick start the bike though.

Oops ! Thats real scary.. especially with key in your hand..

I had a similar problem once with my Scooty Pep. The starter motor wont stop and in the end I opened the seat and pulled out the battery terminals. It was diagnosed as the Starter relay problem. Could be the same with Bull also. Check out at the RE Service Centre ASAP.

regards
San

I was there at RE company owned service station, Chennai last week to service my bike. I was told that the Chrome and Sand Storm (Cream matte finish) will be launched by Diwali. I also saw a Sand Storm Classic 500 at the service center, but the frame was in green. Was informed the production version will not have the green.

I also saw an export Electra 500 at the service center. The RE officials use this bike to commute between the factory and the service center.

Re: Royal Enfield 500 Classic 4100 km Ownership Review

Hello,

I just talked with the Territory Service manager, Kolkata- A Mr. Kuntal Goswami, who said he could not give me any definitive dates on the launch of the Standard and Chrome 500 but he said I could book a Classic 500 now and it would be delivered to me "within six months"...

I then called up the dealer in Siliguri (Who till now was refusing to accept bookings) and he says that He could provide me the Classic 500 but it would be from the old lot- without the ECU upgrade and other modifications...

where-as the Territory Manager tells me that it would be the upgraded version...

My question is- How will i know the difference? Anything visually? Or will I have to check up on the date of manufacture?? What are the total changes apart from the ECU re-mapping?

Here you go again.........!!

1) 120 section 18" tyre on the rear & 90 section 19" on front wheel.
2) Twin horns mounted on purpose made brackets.
3) A new handle bar (slightly modified from the old standard 350 type)
4) New rear view mirrors with thinner stems.
5) New swing arm bushes end cups (black in colour instead of white).

Hmmm what else.........I can't recall anything else.....! Better surf the recent posts on this forum and few others to see photos of almost everything I have talked about.

My bike never had the no.2 item. I had to fix it myself. But a friend of mine took delivery of a twin horn setup piece after a month or so though.

And i believe the ECU change for the CL500 is yet to happen.. I don't think even the newer bikes have an ECU update. At least my bike "jerks".

No, no these changes were there before the ECU upgrade. The latest batch of Classic 500 are reportedly coming with the re-mapping of the ECU. I think Randhawa mentioned that they are coming with white pinstriped seats.. anything else??

The other changes on the Classic 500, I'd seen on the dealership six months ago. whereas the ECU upgrade is very recent. Most parts of the country haven't got deliveries as yet..

Re: Royal Enfield 500 Classic 4100 km Ownership Review

folks,

I got my C5's ECU re-mapped today with the new map.

Had gone to service center (brand store, bangalore) for an electrical issue, and found the guys from chennai there. Asked them to have a look at the bike and they offered to re-map the ECU with the new map. Plugged a laptop to the bike, and installed the new map within 10 mins.

Anyone interested in getting their C5 remapped, pls contact the brand store service centre.

Feedback after re-mapping:

after remapping just came back to office in a heavy traffic. So have not really ridden it to give a feedback. In general, it did not feel much different from the initial map, felt a tad bit smoother, did not face any jerks, did face a few POPPING. Also, not sure if it was my mind playing, but i felt a very marginal drop in the pickup in 3rd and 4th gear. Will ride more and share the feedback.

In the meanwhile, guys rush to the jayanagar service centre before the guys run back to chennai.

That's great news Nasirkaka, looking forward to your review.

If its the case of Pickup vs Better Reliability... I am sure Reliability will win. Finally RE is woken up from its slumber. Kudos to forums like these for getting RE notice.
