Boss you removed the Catalytic Convertor in that too. Poor Mother Nature.
I agree to you for the low stance of the silencer but that is ok if it spits clean air.
I have a '96 model in which I have planned to install the one with Cat-Con next time.

Re: Long Term Review - Kinetic Honda - 53,000 KMS in 14 Years!

Friends,
I have KH 1998 model (before Y2K series). Mechanics are saying that carburetor has gone kaput.
Which carburetor 1998 model KHs have?
Anyone have better suggestion for new carburetor of any current model bikes/ scooter to get better fuel efficiency?

Re: Long Term Review - Kinetic Honda - 53,000 KMS in 14 Years!

Can anyone please share the owner's manual of this iconic scooter? I lost mine. Mine is a '96 model so a Y2k will not help.

Thank you ph03n!x!!

The Kinetic holds a special place in the heart for anyone who grew up in the 90's. I, personally have so many fond memories with the Kinetic.

They just don't make it like em anymore!!

Superlike this thread in facebook terms.

@Anjan- You given me a reason to restore my KH to the brochure model.

I stay in Mumbai. Can we attempt to start a Kinetic Honda forum or a owners club, not just to save the ageing and dying scooter rather rejuvenate the cult who believe what their Kinetic is worth of.

Kavesh

Re: Long Term Review - Kinetic Honda - 53,000 KMS in 14 Years!

Dear All,

I am facing issues with my Kinetic offlate. The idling rpm drops considerably, leading to vibration and stalling. Tried setting it, but does not stay in the band. Normal idling when set, slips to low and finally stalls.
Once stalled it takes a while to get started. Have checked the carb and got it cleaned twice. Asked the mechanic if anything in the carb needs to be replaced. He says all components are fine.
Can some one detect what could be the culprit.

Check fuel supply lines if there is any block. It could be leakage of fuel too but if you are not smelling petrol then no issues on leakage. Second is choked air supply see if the air filter is cleaned also if there is any leak in inlet of air supply to carb after the air filter. Third see if your cans needs decarbonising, exhaust needs to be free, if too much carbon accumulates it chokes the entire system. If all this is correctly working then you need a serious mechanic who has been working on KHs for years.

The things zulfi has told are correct. I presume that this thing has been taken care out by you & mechanic but the symptoms told by are surly for carburetor issue. If all parts in carburetor are correct then there is an issue of settings.

Glad to know that the Kinetic Honda has still got a fan following. Here is a photo of my 1992 Kinetic Honda DX. The paint is still original and it has got a unique front windshield.

Great Scooter Ramdas
Surprised to see the original red paint. What is the name of this shade as referred by the manufacturer?
The Paint will still look amazing if detailed properly. And what is that windshield? Is that OE? I doubt

Re: Long Term Review - Kinetic Honda - 53,000 KMS in 14 Years!

Thank your Mr.Kkvaidya, The windshield is not OE, it came with the scooter when I bought it from the 1st owner in 1995, it was available in the local market as an additional accessory.

The scooter also had a huge luggage box above the front fender which I have removed, since it was spoling the looks of the scooter. I will post photos of the same in my next post. Sorry to inform you that I have no idea about the name of the red paint shade.

Regards,

Ramdas

This starting issue has cropped up for the first time since i bought it in 2000. It starts very normally by kick start at anytime, need choke in mornings and i don't use selfstart in morning. by self start it is very unpredictable during the day, sometimes even in signal stop which is hardly 1 minute after switching off it does not start, and sometimes even if it is parked for more than 4 hours it starts in a single crank by selfstart. Battery is still in warranty and there is no sign of low power. After this problem came up first got the battery checked and its in excellent condition. What is the problem?
