Viju, you can pass it on to Asif. I managed to pick up a brand new one off the shelf here. I must admit, finding O.E spares for RX100 is not much of an issue. Most of the spares are available with the authorized guy at M.R.P. Till date, I was ripped off only for Indicators which were sold higher than what was printed. I was told that the shopkeeper had to get it from another spares guy hence he added his cost of traveling to it.

She's home

Gentlemen,

She's back home. Got her home today noon. Few poor pics clicked at building's parking lot. Will click better ones in proper light.

Your comments, suggestions or criticism regarding the rebuild are most welcome. A few problems which need to be sorted out are :-

1. Squeaking noise from rear suspension whenever the bike goes over an undulation.

2. A few chassis parts need paint touch up as they've lost paint while fitment.

I'll be driving the bike for a couple of days to see whether I face any more issues. Post 3-4 days, I will be taking it to the mechanic. to sort out the problems if any. I am yet to receive the final bill from the mechanic. Will upload it as soon as I get it.

Re: My Yamaha RX-100 Restoration thread - Need advice

Seems that everyone is busy with other fancy bike threads. Not a single reply on my puny little RX-100's thread.

Anyways, here are the scans of bills. Too lazy to type out everything. I have included a breakup of spares and labour charges in the end.

Chain cover and Switch bill

Bill for Rear Shock Absorbers

Chrome plating

Some additional spares purchased by the mechanic & other odd jobs like Welding, seat stitching etc.

He hasn't added his labour in this bill. It's 2000 bucks

Final calculations including RTO documentation.

Overall, I am happy with the outcome. The chrome plating could have been better but I couldn't find a better guy to do it. I'll keep these as it is for a while and will get them plated later.

Re: My Yamaha RX-100 Restoration thread - Need advice

Your Bike has turned out excellently. Seeing an RX 100 in good shape makes me remember the good old 90s when those thundering 2 strokes ruled the roads. None of the present 4strokes (except Bullet, maybe)can bring back the thrill of the throaty growl and wild thrust of the Shogun or RX 100 upon the twist of the throttle. Please never sell her!

IMHO, your bike will look even more classy with a single bar crashguard and one small rear view mirror on the right hand side alone.

+ 1 to what Ashley has stated about the Crash Guard. Have either two mirrors or only one on the right hand side. If I recall correctly RX 100s came with twin mirrors at least until 1988.

Sabareesh otherwise the bike has come out well. Congrats on completion of the project.

Best Regards & Ride Safe

Ram

Re: My Yamaha RX-100 Restoration thread - Need advice

Hi Sabareesh the bike has come out really well…the squeaking sound u r hearing from the rear shocks are you sure that both left and right shocks have the same settings. If so then the next part you need to check is loosen the swing arm bolt where the silencer is fixed and then do proper lubrication to the axle and retorque the bolt….the sound happens from there mostly. If you get this sorted then make sure that every time you are taking out the silencer for decarbonising and cleaning you need to get the swing arm bush lubricated.

Also do get a transparent film sticker btw the tank and seat so that the seat rubbing and taking off the paint from the tank can be avoided…Above all enjoy it to the max…all the best

Hi, waking up this thread after years! Do you still have the workshop manual? Would it be possible to share it? I tried on net, wasnt able to find one. I found the parts catalog though. Many thanks in advance.

Thanks Zaveed! Both links worked. Will print it out and start reading

I am preparing for my first restoration ever - planned for late next year. I am looking for a decent RX 100 - reasonably priced.

Re: My Yamaha RX-100 Restoration thread - Need advice

Hi Everyone,

I too picked up a Yamaha RX-100 from a person in my neighbourhood for an attractive price last month. The motorcycle is mechanically sound barring a few niggles which I got sorted from an FNG. Cosmetically the bike needs a fair bit of work to restore it back to its former glory.

The Tacky 'Racing' stickers have to go. I will get them removed. The alloys were installed by the previous owner:

Side profile. Simple and elegant machine:

Just love this picture. Notice the missing badging from the side box:

Does anyone know a reliable and competent mechanic for 2-strokes like the RX here in Jaipur, Rajasthan?
