2500 KM ownership Upgrade

I have been riding the gun as my primary commuter & she completed 2500 kms today.
So far she has been a hoot to ride, and i am sure my entire neighborhood curse me, when i roar in at 4 AM in the morning back from work.

Few of things i observed so far
1. The performance is closely related to the type of fuel used, Indian OIL (normal) + STP octane booster is the very best so far.

2. 2t oil consumption has been on the higher side due to the brand new bore/piston & the setting. so far 4.5 ltrs for 2500kms.

3.The nuts & bolts do need tightening every 1000 kms.

4.Spare part availability is not that big a issue, once you get your contacts

Is it a direct fit? What is the cost of Swingram? Any considerable difference in stability?

Re: 1996 Shogun Rebuild- 3500Km update

Gun completed 3500kms yesterday
few things that came to light so far.

Engine has opened up nicely, revs cleanly to 11k RPM.
2T Oil usage is about 1L/1000k.
Removed the original headlight assembly & put on the Yezdi Roadking head lamp unit.(400 rs+100 rs for installation). The result is +10 meter illumination.

you guys are talking about what is known as the "Shogun Shadow" they were black in color.
I suppose 200 to 250 of these were made as "factory specials". They were sold off the counter during a motocross race and i think the race was held in nashik. needless to say, they were all sold out in a few hours max.

would have to dig around a little bit to find out more.

Re: 1996 Shogun Rebuild

Shogun V2.0 Update

Finally after more than a year & 9000 KM later, she got what she deserved. A better front suspension(Off a Bajaj Disco 125, with a Brembo Disc Setup)

Mudguard changed to matte black, new side panels(4th one) and engine clean up.. Was pleasantly surprised as a lot of guys came up to me at stop lights, complimented & then the question ( do you plan to sell it :O).

I will upload the pics tomorrow. Boy i am in love all over again, getting out of the bed to catch a glimpse, taking her out for spin early in the morning.

Re: 1996 Shogun Rebuild

2 Strokes provide the instant go. And the feeling of a de-clutch on a 2 stroke with an expansion chamber is the best feeling compared to something similar experienced when done on a sports bike of 600+ cc. The gun, shaolin, Rx's, Z's all shall be missed !

Re: 1996 Shogun Rebuild

You really reminded me of my first ride.
A 94 model shogun,
It was my soul for long 10 years and i sold it on 2004 with a heavy heart.
The availability of spare parts was a very big issue.
Really appriciate the effort to bring back her in shape. Congrats on the rebuild.
Here i am sharing you the picture of my 94 Shogun
