Re: My Mahindra e2o 'EVA' - The beginning of a paradigm shift

Mahindra has tied up with Carzonrent, the car rental firm to offer Reva H2O on rental basis. Initially the service will be available in five major cities and will be spread to other cities. They have set up 100 charging stations across India. Looks like a good initiative, people can experience tha car with minimal expense. More details are available at the source.

Re: Mahindra Reva e2o : Official Review

Mahindra Group firm Mahindra Reva and cab rental firm Carzonrent today joined hands to provide users in New Delhi, Mumbai and Bangalore self drive experience at a price of Rs 800 for 24 hours.

Under the partnership announced today, Carzonrent will offer Mahindra e2o (electric car) for self drive in New Delhi, Bangalore and Mumbai from October 1, 2013.

Each city will have a fleet size of five e2o's to begin with and the service will be gradually expanded in all metropolitan cities, the companies said.

Super...

Rs. 100/hr (or Rs. 800/24-hrs) are super good value for money IMO!! Especially since you are NOT paying for fuel at all.

One question though : Where are the pick-up locations for CarsOnRent? Or would they deliver the car to you?

Re: Mahindra Reva e2o : Official Review

Money wise great value , the next cheapest car for Self Drive which they offer i believe is the Swift which start at 1200.

Concern is going to be usage - a majority of the people availing self drive options are going to be travelers - the car is not suited for them owing to space and range capabilities , i am even more concerned about international tourists picking these up under the assumption that they will be able to find a charging station as they might be used to depending on where they come from.

They have designated locations in each of these cities and also Pick-up/Drop can be organised at doorstep.

There are about 100 charging stations in Public locations in Bangalore & Delhi and Mumbai is equipped with 25 as on date, these charging stations can be located in the GPS Navigation which is pre-fitted in the car.

Also heard that they are increasing the number of such public charging stations across all metros.

Re: Mahindra Reva e2o : Official Review

Their solar charger cost seems prohibitively expensive. I think extending a rooftop Solar setup to charge the car should work out cheaper.

For effective solar charging there are two important things.

1. Area of solar panels have to be huge
2. Panels have to be stationary(fixed).

Car's roof top area is way too small and since its always in motion effective charging does not happen.

I wasnt talking abour car rooftop. The solution that Reva is planning is to setup a rooftop solar setup at home to charge the car. I may be wrong

Yes, their price for the setup is pretty high. A rooftop setup to charge this car would cost much lesser if done privately.

The rooftop available commercially do not match the rating required for the car's batteries.

Re: Mahindra Reva e2o : Official Review

Any idea what would be the road tax to be paid if the vehicle is bought in Delhi and then sent to Bangalore. The price difference is almost Rs. 1 lakh between the two cities. Road Tax Rate is much lower for the vehicle, even in Bangalore, but the ex-showroom price is much higher, due to lack of subsidies.

The old Reva did come with a Li-Ion battery pack later on in its life.

I'm not sure whether that version was sold in India or not.
