Re: Ford Aspire : Official Review

Does the aspire get underbody protectiob shield as an accessory? Can the freestyle one be used? Has anyone got hold of door pocket and cup holder rubber mats/coaster for the aspire /figo?

Re: Ford Aspire : Official Review

Has anyone tried fitting the reading lamp of the old Figo/Fiesta in the new Figo/Aspire?

Yes AYP, you can fit the reading lamp of Fiesta/Ecosport in the new Figo/Aspire. It's a direct fit in the existing slot of the new Figo. I have done this modification in my Figo TDCI.

Even I got the same installed. Also installed the Osram T10 LEDs in them.

I have one query though. The centre light does not come on when I switch it on via the button. It only comes on when a door is opened. Is this the case with you as well?

Re: Ford Aspire : Official Review

My Aspire completed 6 years and around 37000 odd Kms recently. The Michelin XM2s - 185-65-R14 still have a lot of thread depth but some hairline cracks were showing along the outer edge of the Tyre.
Decided to replace the XM2's with Conti - UC6's and visited Madhu's during the week-end. Here I happened to meet an Ecosport enthusiast who was there to replace his Alloy and we got talking about the Fords - one thing let to another and he suggested to upsize to 15 inch wheels, which through his contact agreed to help me get the 15 inch Freestyle alloys.
Currently I am waiting for the alloys to land in Bangalore so that I can upgrade the Wheels.
Will be going with VREDESTEIN - ULTRAC - 185-60-R15 tyres now. Also planned to install the Sensairy TPMS (mobile device display) fitted inside these tyres as well.
Will post updates after they are fitted

Do check the manufacturing of the Verdesteins. When I went around September, they had year old stocks. So upsized to 195/60 r15 yokohoma earth.

Re: Ford Aspire : Official Review

A short ownership review of my Aspire Sports as I touch almost 73000 kilometers. I have been postponing this write up since years now. I thought I should do it now as I just purchased a Jimny 2 weeks ago (courtsey of the year-end discounts) and if I dont write it now, I never will.

I used to drive a 2016 Punto Pure 1.3 Diesel which I passed onto my sister in 2018 after it crossed about 25000 kilometers. I started looking out for a reasonably fast diesel sedan once my sister took over my car. At that point of time - The BS4 diesels were still going strong and there were quite a lot of options available from almost every stable I looked into. I was not willing to spend upwards of 9 Lakh Ex-showroom so was looking at cars within this budget

I looked at a few sedans such as the Ciaz which seemed to have lackluster performance. I was not impressed by the Hyundai Xcent and how chopped up it looked to achieve the 4 metre mark. Ultimately, it came down to the Linea 90 HP and the Aspire Diesel and while the Linea was very close; I only bought the Aspire because I had been driving a Fiat for the past 2 years and wanted a change. Otherwise; as a straight shoot out- I preferred the Linea over the Aspire.

I did not really know much of the Sports Edition until I visited the website. The dealer was trying to push the Sports edition because most people were going in for the versions below the Sports or the top-end version over the Sports. I bargained hard and got the car for 8.10 Lakh on-road which I paid 50% in cash and 50% was financed by Ford as a zero-interest loan to be repaid in exactly 365 days.

What do I say about the car, the sheer reliability or even the service offered by Ford (pre-exit and post-exit). The car has almost clocked 73000 kilometers and it has been utterly reliable from Day 1. The engine is rock solid, torquey and a pleasure to drive. It has power in each gear and it can hold speeds of 120 km/hr all day long without breaking a sweat. I get the car serviced every 1 year / 10000 kilometers without fail and the service experience has been nothing less than exemplary.

The car came shod with Apollo Alnac 4g's which ran for about 56000 kilometers before I replaced them with another set of Apollo Alnac's on the recommendation of bhpian Tharian. I have driven the car everywhere. Multiple trips from Ahmedabad to Hyderabad, Mumbai, Pune and Rajasthan - it keeps rolling without a sweat. Yes - the car is low and the Sports version is even more low - so you have to keep a tight watch on bumps or ruts because the car has a tendency to scrape its front wing.

The 6 year experience has been flawless for the most part apart from some items which I have got replaced in my 7 year extended warranty; damaged wheel lug nuts, a front power window switch, a door locking mechanism and something under the dashboard near the AC vents which makes a whirring noise everytime I start up the car. The last one is a common complaint between all Figo and Aspire owners.

The service pre Ford Exit was impeccable and the service post Ford Exit is the same. I recently got my front suspension changed at around 70000 kilometers because it was making a loud thudding / rattling noise. I asked the service station to ensure they fit the correct spec suspension by looking it up from the Chassis number. To their credit - they took a couple of days but were able to source it for me.

The car has been in a couple of accidents. (a) A drunk on a two-wheeler (Yes in Gujarat!) rammed into my car at a signal from behind and the entire rear panel glass shattered into pieces. There was also a significant amount of damage to the boot as well as the left rear tail light. The insurance claim procedure had been flawless as almost everything was replaced. One thing I was slightly unhappy about was that when I went to pick up the car 3 weeks later after replacement - the back seat still had some minor glass pieces wedged inside the seat. I gave the dealership staff a piece of my mind as this could have cut anybody who tried to sit in the rear seat. They cleaned the entire car and washed it again before it was delivered to me. (b) a monkey jumped on the front windscreen of the car when it was parked at home and the windscreen developed a tiny crack which kept on expanding every few days. The front windscreen was replaced. Here too - the insurance claim procedure had been flawless.

I have as of yet not seen any decline in service levels post exit of Ford. Infact, my accident repairs as well as the suspension repair took place AFTER Ford's exit. The service station personnel are still the same and I have developed a good rapport with them. They are professional, prompt, friendly and never try to push or sell optional things whenever I put the car for service.

I bought a Jimny 3 weeks ago. The only reason I bought it because the Aspire had one major limitation which was basically its ground clearance. I could not tour on it in places where the roads were even moderately bad because the car sits just too low. The engine is fantastic but the suspension just cannot take the abuse of bad roads. The Aspire is at 73000 kilometers today and I will keep it till I can drive it simply because 1 - the car is absolutely fantastic in terms of drivability, mileage as well as inter-city touring and 2- my mum cannot sit in the Jimny as it is just too high for her. So I have 4 vehicles in 2 categories for my travels now.

Onroad / Intercity - Aspire and Duke 390
Offroad / Off the beaten Path - Jimny and Himalayan 411

In Summary - I have been absolutely satisfied with the car, the dealership experience, the service experience, the frugal nature of the engine, the torque of the engine as well as the power to cut through miles after miles in utter comfort. Would I recommend it to anybody? A 100% yes. The BS4 diesel engine is an absolute gem and it is one of the last of its generation.

Re: Ford Aspire : Official Review

I received the 15 inch wheels yesterday and headed to Madhu's for the tyre and TPMS installation today.

I was the first customer today morning and the fitting, WB and WA happened real quick!! The TPMS - Sensairy - was a straight forward affair, Mr. Darshan from Madhu's configured it for me in a jiffy!

The new tyres are 185-60 R15 - One inch wheel dia increased, but tyre profile came down from 65 to 60 - is there a small height increase? or is my mind playing tricks on me as I know that I have the bigger wheels now? - The tyre comparison tool tells me the effective outermost dia is ALMOST the same - 23.5 inch. On the way back home, I did feel like I was riding a bit taller

I was on Michelin XM2 - 185-65-R14 earlier which I drove for 38,000 Km 6+ years and had only ONE puncture in all this time with a very fat steel nail piercing the tyre and there was minimal loss of pressure until almost 2 days after the nail pierced - really good tyres those Michelins!! Hope for the same reliability from these Vredestiens as well. These tyres do have a 2 years of unconditional warranty though!

I will post a short note on how the Vredestiens feel after I take the car out for a longer drive.

Sir, are these the alloys from ford freestyle? They look cool. Also, is your model diesel or the petrol aspire? What is the mileage you get?

(Please call me Sunil)
Yes, They are the alloys from FreeStyle, Thank you! My friends also told me that, with the new wheels, the car looks Super!
My Car is the 2017 BS4 Diesel Titanium variant. Of the 38K odd Km in these last 6+ years, I am driving the car mostly out on the highways / out side of Bangalore for 90% of the time. On an average I get around 23-25 Kmpl,(MID reading), When checked the tank full to tank full method, also it is quite close to around 21-22 kmpl.
There are times when I drove the car (like how it has to be driven), and during those times, I have got only around 16-17Kmpl and there are other times when I made an effort to drive very carefully in the 18-20K RPM just to check how much I can extract, the MID showed around 25.8!!! Never bothered to check the mileage in the city as I hardly drive it in the city.

The Engine NOW feels very eager and smooth especially after the 6th year / 40K service when compared to earlier.

Re: Ford Aspire : Official Review

Thank you for your reply, Sunil. Thats amazing mileage. Mine is a 2016 manufactured petrol titanium variant (pre-owned). I got the car 1 year back with just 12,000 km on the odo. The car has been serving me amazingly well. Just that in the city traffic of Kolkata where it is mostly used, I hardly get an average of 10kmpl. In peak summer it falls to 9 kmpl. Otherwise, I am extremely happy with the purchase. It's a reliable workhorse!

Re: Ford Aspire : Official Review

The windshield of my Aspire has cracked AGAIN!!
The first time during April in the year 2018 (9 month old car), it cracked while I was on the outskirts of Chitradurga, and now it cracked AGAIN and this time too - on the outskirts of Chitradurga!!! and for NO APPARENT reason! just a loud C.R.A.C.K!!!! sound and a hair line crack propagates from upper right of the wind screen. The crack has happened both times at almost the same place (Geographical location and on the glass).
Will connect with Cauvery ford for the glass replacement. Thankfully the PAYTM fastag was due for replacement - HDFC tag is on the way. but it looks like, it is the HSRP sticker that is going to be a headache, the bookmyhsrpdotcom website is just not helping / bugged if I am trying to book only the sticker.
Windshield repair shops told they will happily replace the whole glass and not repair it. If I have to replace it, I would rather do it thru Cauvery ford. - though I heard some times, they too refer the use of external Windshield repair guys for replacing the glass, let me try.

Re: Ford Aspire : Official Review

The windshield was eventually replaced by Windshield experts, as Cauvery ford did not have the stock. Received the Fast tag from HDFC, which, along with the dash cam is now pasted on the glass.

Requesting help from Aspire Owners, the details of which I have narrated here .....

https://www.team-bhp.com/forum/techn...ml#post5745873 (Windshield cracked. Need replacement)

Thanks in Advance

Re: Ford Aspire : Official Review

In last 5 years 42,000 Km ownership I have faced only one issue - Passenger side & Rear Left Side Windows switch fault. They cleaned and made it to function but it gave up after few months. They changed one with warranty and other I paid. The culprit is the interior cleaning using some agent (it was done by FASS), I have done it only once in 5 years.

3 days back completed a 1000 km trip and I heard the chime like the warning chime for the seat belt but there was no information on MID or In Dashboard Display. The chime was like half the sound of the original seat belt chime - it came twice in the trip.

Another one was bonnet open sign in MID when cruising above 90kmph and vanished in 2 seconds, this has happened in the past (during third year).

Did anybody came across such occurrence (can't even call these as niggles, when compared to TAMO issues ).
