Re: 2021 Tata Safari Review

Hello All,

Going through a very disappointing situation with my safari 2022 model with extended warranty. For a while I had issue with vehicle dragging towards right side. I thought will visit during regular major service which was due but had some time before and decided to get it rectified before instead of keeping it pending till the service due.

They took it as running complaint and did wheel alignment. I was sure it was not wheel alignment issue. They did wheel alignment and gave me the vehicle. I could not take it as the issue was not fixed and the vehicle now started dragging both left and right. They said, the tyres are worn out hence its dragging and asked me to change the tyres. I did not buy it. I told them I will change the tyres and if the issue still persist give me in writing that you will refund the tyre cost. That is when they asked for another day and decided after a day that they will replace the steering assembly. I was sure it wasn't the assembly. I specifically asked them to check for suspension. He said they verified suspension and everything around which is all good. steering assembly was replaced under warranty and the issue was still there but lot lesser than it was before. I thought its the issue we have to live with and took the vehicle any way. The service was due in a month and I had to give it for service to keep the warranty intact.

I gave the vehicle for major service. Between the repair and service I drove about 500Km. There were no complaints and was just regular service. I asked for same day delivery and I was given delivery the same day without wash(on my request).

But, there was this big but.. The SA identified a major suspension sound and were recording the details to claim warranty. I was little surprised, as I'm generally very sensitive to noise and slightest of a noise I would crib about it and get it rectify. I thought may be i missed noticing, must be during humps. I was appreciative of SA for voluntarily identifying it.
Part will take 4 days to come, I was asked to take the vehicle and come back. When I took the vehicle boss, the part wasnt mine. It was shaking and rattling at suspension like broken unit. It was late to drive back and give the vehicle back. I came back to service station next day and told him such noise is impossible to get un noticed. Something has happened at your service station. How can something that was no issue suddenly develop so much issue. Either the part was replaced or the vehicle was miss handled to develop a problem. How can I prove it though? They were taking light cos Its covered under warranty. What If I did not have extended warranty?

4 days passed and the part is still not arrived, I call them and tell them that the car is not drivable and help get the part ASAP. After a week I get a message from my SA that part has arrived and I can come. I went the next day and guess what, the part that arrived was given to another vehicle. I was furious and told them I'm not leaving without the car getting the issue fixed today. They arranged a part from other service station and finally got the part replaced. If they could arrange the same part in 1 hr from another service, why did I wait for 1 week?

When I accused of some play here, they said its not possible as the part is attached to a vehicle. If it is so, then how did they put the part that was for my vehicle was given to another ? Apparently its not tied to a charsi but its tied to model and year of manufacture. There is some miss management here and I had to go through this for no fault of mine.

I am not sure if there is anything I could have done to stop this from happening. Or I can prove my suspicion. But the fact remains, a 35K driven car which did get a full check up of suspension 500km before suddenly develops fault in service station does raise concern.

Sorry to hear this ordeal and you had to go through this. I am sure something is suspicious and I would suggest to demand to look at the cctv footage from that day and see what all work was done on your car. This is malpractice and the service center should be sued for the same.

Re: 2021 Tata Safari Review

I have raised this concern to tatamotors. Waiting for a response. I just hope its just my suspicion and there is no such malpractice. I want Tata motors to investigate. If even if its a coincidence, I need answers from Tata how the suspension can develop such a big issue suddenly.

Did not get any further response from any of the tata motors team. Only got a apologetic reply from Manager of Key motors. No wonder Tata motors is the way it is today.

What is the offending part here? The entire suspension or just some component?

Faulty Stabiliser Link Rod might have been installed (might be deliberately done during Major Service) post which the "shaking and rattling" started.

On a side note, did you check for CCTV Footage?

Re: 2021 Tata Safari Review

Anybody who has managed to rest the service reminder icon on the MID successfully. Im my 2023 safari, it is on from the third service onwards. The OBD Tool at the ASC shows a success message when the ‘service reminder reset’ routine is run, but it comes back on the very next cold start. I have figured out a workaround but I just hate warning lights.

Which Service Centre is this? I guess you will have to escalate this type of stupid service up the TATA chain of command.

I did not, however the manager did offer to come someday at leisure to check the same. And very sure that leisure will never happen so I rest it there.

One update on this. I did get a call from area Manager of Tata Motors along with Key Motors Service Manager. They said, Key motors and Tata Motors are not two different entities and are same. He assured of some action which are internal in nature and cannot be shared.

Re: 2021 Tata Safari Review

Hello everyone,

I am facing a peculiar issue with my Tata Safari 2022 model. When braking at 120kph, i feel vibrations at steering like shown in below video. This doesn't happen below 100kph and happens only after driving for an hour in highway and at 110-130kph. Please refer below video.

This makes explaining this issue to service rep difficult. They were not able to replicate the issue in short test drives as well. Please help throw some light on this issue. Its scary to face this at 120kph during sudden braking scenarios.

Not that I may have this issue with my Safari, I don't have this issue so far, but I noticed this earlier with one of the other cars in my garage. We had to do front discs skimming or replace both front brake discs to solve the problem.
Not resolved yet. PPS Guindy replaced steering container but that didn't solve the issue. Kaveri garage Trichy outright rejected that issue exist, even after sharing the video. Very bad experience there. Will soon right up ownership review & highlight details there.

Right now, planning to check tyres & replace them. 32k continentals but having more then normal wear. If that doesn't work will let you know.

Looks like a wheel balancing issue. Possible due to worn out tyres also. if Tyres are already worn out, better to get them replaced and tyre guys will do wheel balancing which should fix this. I was facing this issue at around 100+ speeds and fixed with a simple wheel balancing.

Re: 2021 Tata Safari Review

Does the pre-facelift (or post-facelift) Tata Safari have DFCO (Deceleration Fuel Cut-off)? I did not get a definite answer from web searches.

I own a pre-facelift version. I find that when going on a downward ramp with foot off the accelerator, after some time the engine becomes very silent and it might be due to DFCO triggering? Can someone confirm?

Re: 2021 Tata Safari Review

Hello everyone, I am facing a quite irritating issue with my car, 2021 Safari Automatic.

This is the second time it has been happening with me, the same issue happened last month, the car was towed to the SVC and they boiled down the issue to some wiring problem and returned the car. The car ran fine for a month and today I am faced with the same problem again.

The problem is, the car refuses to start and keeps buzzing the TPMS error sound and all sorts of warning lamps on the instrument cluster.
It goes like, I press the push start button and it reaches till the ignition mode, after that it refuses to acknowledge the push button and keeps shouting TPMS error and also the brake pedal becomes too hard to press than it should be when the engine is off. The car remains stuck at ignition mode till I remove the battery terminals. The battery is not the issue here as it was confirmed by the A.S.S staff last month.

Has anyone faced this issue ? If yes, then please suggest a quick fix so that the car becomes drivable for me to take it to the A.S.S. I am attaching a video for a better understanding.
